Starfield's Latest Sales Data Reveals Major Success For Xbox In Europe

Keep in mind that 2023 is one of the biggest years in gaming history. For Starfield to be fifth while launching GamePass day one is a HUGE accomplishment. I am interested to see the increase in subs over the last couple month as well.

I am glad that Starfield is having the positive impact Microsoft was hoping to get.

I hope forward momentum continues.

Love this game, i hope they keep improve this game more and more. If they do that the sales will keep going.

Glad it's doing good for Xbox but personally I found it very dull boring and to much time stuck in the menus to fast travel everywhere uninstalled it already but will go back at some point hopefully they will update how you fast travel because the constant menu surfing did my head in

Pity they couldn’t do like for like figures as this includes Early access sales so skews the data. But good to see it sold well.

I’d expect FIFA/EA to drop it a spot and potentially Spiderman too.

I'm loving this game - I'm about 50 hours although Xbox like to tell me it's basically 2 whole days of my life haha.

HL must have sold an insane amount by this point! another great game this year - and it hasn't even hit Switch yet!

@Darylb88 I've played for a "mere" 1 day 8 hours or so. I've never played massive RPGs like this, but had a week off work last week and really enjoying it.

I thought it very odd when it switched from hours to days! 😀

@themightyant the 1000% thing was misleading it was one Amazon snapshot that’s tracked over a day or something.

Just like this data is wrong. It includes early access, so it’s a longer period than a week, so isn’t actually comparable.

@Kaloudz That was misreported, it wasn't a 1000% increase in sales. It was a 1000% rise up the Amazon chart.

Subs and console sales will tell the true story.

The game definitely deserves its place there for sure, great game.
Now if they had done some TV advertising, billboard advertising they would have done even better in the UK.

@OldGamer999 Maybe. Or they have reams of data saying that is an ineffective use of capital. MS does data as good as anyone.

FF16 did the whole double decker bus bit and tv adverts - it did nothing for them.

I believe gamepass is an education thing - and it is a problem. I had no idea really what gamepass even after I bought the XSX. It seems basic - if you've been on the thing for a while - but for an outsider who initially doesn't care at all about subscription video gaming - they just don't know about it.

@themightyant I think it's been pretty tame in the states. I see more Nintendo ads and sports - NBA and Madden.

Then again, I moved to the suburbs and don't go into the city very often any longer - I don't see the posters, bus ads and what-not. Thank ****ing god almighty.

@Moonglow yeah I tried all that think it's just the constant fast traveling as a whole that annoyed me hopefully it gets better I'll download it again in a week or so

@OldGamer999 It's everywhere down where I am. I've seen it on buses, I've seen it on billboards, they were showing bits in the cinemas before films.

I did see someone tweet about there being a numbered poster on one of the underground lines.

@OldGamer999 Weird. I live in a remote part of Nottinghamshire and even here I've seen posters on bus stops for it.

Honestly I don't read too much in this, it's great for Xbox, but let's not forget that this was in development prior to the buyout. This is all Bethesda. Let's wait and see how the next game turns out, that way MS will have had their fingers in the pie from the beginning.

SoundS like they do have the odd poster etc.
I guess I was expecting something big like Sony did for HFW or GOWR.
Different companies different strategies I guess.
Now back to Starfield for me.

@Moonglow Why should it be on the consumer to slog through the boring part of the game and not on the developer introduce its story and systems in an entertaining manner? Tutorials and story setup don’t have to be boring and in many games they are exciting.

Im glad its selling well but It's not a great game at all zelda lotk and god of war ragnarok are amazing this game is ok nothing special a good game nothing more and definitely not amazing it has way to many problems this game does

@PsBoxSwitchOwner Early access people are just people that preordered. They would have been there day one, regardless.

This has become my favourite game this year and probably my favourite Bethesda game altogether. For the first 10 or so hours I liked it but it doesn't have that immediate impact of a Skyrim, now 50 hours in and having finished the main story it already has some great quests. Now I'm digging more into the side quests in NG+ and it still feels like I've barely scratched the surface, also I feel the companions have been written far better than in previous games and there are some very interesting possible surprises.

This year I'd go for these as my top 3 so far

Resident Evil 4
Zelda TOTK

2023 is truly stacked and its not even done yet. How are you all finding time to play these games lol.

@Mauzuri thsts just 2 games I've mentioned better than starfield the games a mess and average at best I'm still enjoying it though

@Mauzuri I think I'm being too harsh on starfield to he honest it's a good game if it was better optimised it's could be an all time great game shame about the engine it's on as well the potential is there for it be one of the best games of all time but unfortunately it doesn't reach near it I can see the potential when I play it one minute I'm thinking this is great the next minute I'm frustrated with the loading times and the resued buildings and outposts then the next minute I'm enjoying it again lol

it's my goty honestly. I played TOTK, i tried to start BG3. Starfield has me hooked like no game since Elden Ring, or any game long before that.

@Mauzuri definitely needs vehicle travel its just compltly boring walking from one destination to the next all the time the loading times are a joke but I can live with them the thing bothering me more than anything is the repeated outposts and buildings I must of been in the same building 10 times or more without exactly the same layout and everything it's laziness that is from the developer this game engine needs ditching as well its ancient
