Story and music are top tier sadly the game play doesn't match that at all.

Tolerate the game play to enjoy the story.

Finished South of Midnight. Its an excellent story with some really dark themes and some outstanding music that really resonates with the story beats. Sadly the game play & combat gets really repetitive really quickly which makes enjoying the story a chore at times.

Basically the same issues I had with both Hellblades you try to tolerate lackluster game play to enjoy the story.

Will be dipping into Baldur's Gate 3, Crime Scene Cleaner & Minecraft over the weekend.

I spent a couple of hours in Crime Scene Cleaner & its oddly relaxing for what is a gruesome subject matter. I played it while catching up on some podcast and I was honestly surprised to find the two hours had gone by.

Will keep this one installed for future podcast listening.

Not excited by rumours especially rumour that were first reported as an imminent release months ago (December 2024) and continually repeated as its this week honestly for real this time.

If we get any official announcement on either on these games confirming what they will entail & a release date then sure I might be a bit excited. Until that happens you are wasting everyones time.

One of the few recent games I have purchased and regretted doing so. At least it was a sale and I didn't pay full price.

Oh heck yes been waiting on this to start a fresh run at BG3. Fun times ahead as a Path of the Giant Barbarian.

It could be the best extraction shooter ever made and I would still not play it. No hate or anything else is involved just a complete lack of interest in extraction shooters. Thats not something Bungie or any other dev team will ever be able to change.

Rumour articles along with the Reddit sourced ones are a couple of the things I really dislike about this site (& Push Square to be fair.)

I keep meaning to get started on a 3rd play through but there is so much being released it keeps getting bumped. Oh well it will only mean I have a better experience when I do get round to it. Mod support for one!

Cool, still not interested in an extraction shooter and if it was F2P I still wouldn't be interested.

Its a bold art style & being a Bungie game i would expect the shooting to be fluid. However, I have zero interest in an extraction shooter even if it was a free to play (which this isn't) I would not play.

It will be interesting to see how this is does in what is a pretty saturated market with many free to play games already in the genre.

I am going to start & hopefully finish South of Midnight. I understand it a pretty tightly woven & not overly long story which is perfect for me right now.

Any other spare time will be spent in the Path of Exile 2 beta. Though that has been pretty rough this week as the EU servers are in a bad state right now due to disconnection issues.

I briefly tried Blue Prince & its not for me so uninstalled. I am looking forward to diving into Baldur's Gate 3 next week once patch 8 drops which is why I don't want to start anything too time consuming this weekend.

And this is why I get my movies from streaming services only these days. I can throw all the pop corn I want and no one calls the cops 😉

I am not usually a fan of puzzle games but this game has generated enough of a buzz that I will give it a go eventually but I am in no real rush to dive in.

I haven't started South of Midnight yet and that has a higher priority for me.

With the exception of Vampire Survivors a whole lot of nothing for me personally. 1 out of 12 is better than nowt I guess.

I am good with just The Outer Worlds 2.

Non of the rumoured games this article mentions are anything for me to be excited for or will make me watch the showcase.

I might actually watch The Outer Worlds 2 presentation but will skip showcase as usual, obviously.

I still play D4 but usually only the first couple of weeks per season as I usually exhaust the content by then.

Nothing on road map looks super exciting on the face of it but will have to wait on actual details I guess. Interested to see what "New IP colab" is. Hope its something substantial but I expect it to be purchase mtx from store.

I will be interested when / if it's officially announced and / or released. Until then I have other games to occupy my time.

@GeeForce Their article got more push back than normal for something critical of Microsoft.

I know it's petty but that did make me smile a little bit.

@Ricky-Spanish I got more annoyed that Push Square covered this as they just seemed to want to use it just to bash Microsoft. As I said I do realise there is only so much gaming news to report & wasn't meant as a critique.

@FraserG I tend to look at Push Square first then Pure Xbox. I can usually count on one or two stories being cross posted every day.

It's usually Pure Xbox that "copies" but occasionally it goes the other way too. I know there is only so much gaming news available for you all to report and it's not meant as a critique.

As I said on push square a technology still in its infancy isn't going to produce AAA content right out of the gate.

AI could take many decades before it becomes sentient and destroys humanity .... um I mean finds it's feet and becomes a useful tool for creativity or anything else it's applied to.

Path of Exile 2 early access mostly I expect. A new patch just dropped with a new class (The Huntress) and enough changes elsewhere that I am interested enough to want to play it again.

Also want to find some time to properly check out Minecraft Preview (on Series X & PS5.) They also just dropped a new patch with the vibrant visuals & happy ghast content that was recently announced at their live event.

For anyone interested Minecraft Preview has the Vibrant Visuals update available for testing on all Bedrock platforms (except Switch afaik.).

It struggles with everything on ultra on native 4K resolution ( on Series X & PS5) & hovered around 30 FPS but dips way lower when loading chunks etc.

Drop the resolution to 2k though and it's solid on both machines and honestly for Minecraft lowering resolution doesn't really make much difference.

For the first release test of this I think it looks excellent and I expect it will get better moving forward.

( Edit: The Happy Ghast is also available for testing but I haven't had time to check that out yet.)

At that price range I won't take as many risks on day one purchases and will certainly wait for sales or for them to go on Gamepass / PS Plus.

A price increase on anything non essential like gaming is just going to mean me being way more selective about my purchases.

Remake is not very good, it looks better but doesn't have any soul. It's like when you see an actor who is just doing a movie for the money and is otherwise not interested in the project.

So it doesn't matter to me if we never see this on Xbox.

@themightyant nah they fancy their chances against GTA6 and are launching same day.

If they are taking feedback : an option just to turn it off completely please & thank you.

How did the list get compiled? Was it from votes from bafta members, throwing darts at a wall, pulled from a hat?

I feel KCD2 & BG3 are on the list only because folks are currently enjoying playing them. How can you say they have influenced gaming when they have (more or less) only just been released. No one knows their influence on future gaming at this point.

It seems like a random list of favourite games to me more than anything else.

I thought I had visited the wrong website earlier.

Atomfall is the only one I played though I purchased the deluxe edition rather than play it via gamepass.

Non of the other were appealing or as in the case of Monster Train and Enter the Gungeon were games I played a lot before and had no desire to do so again, good as they are

I was excited for a second or two, hall effect sticks, wireless and a reasonable price. Then you pulled the rug from under my feet with not wireless on console.

Sigh 😔

Will give it a try seen as it's on game pass. Eternal was too fast for me and my aging reflexes so it was somewhat difficult and left me tired after even a short session.

If the new one is a bit slower I am sure I will find it more enjoyable and certainly less tiring.

Kind of tempted by South of Midnight early access which I could get with my accrued points. However Path of Exile 2 is dropping a huge patch on the 4th and I expect that will have all my time.

Still if PoE 2 doesn't work out I have a back up plan I guess.

Me, I play games and come here to discuss the merits or not of said games. Its a rare treat for me these day when I actually get to do that.

I have finished the game (twice actually) & gave it 8.

It's a really interesting story presented in a way you don't see very often. Picking your way through the spiders web of clues that make up the story was fantastic.

It has some design choices I don't like such as limited inventory or not being able to quick slot any healing or buff item for no apparent reason. Coupled with the crash & sound issue lost it a couple of points from me.

Generally though i really enjoyed my time in Atomfall (& looking forward to the future dlc.) I do hope Rebellion iterate on this concept for future games as it has a lot of potential for non linear story telling.

Atomfall is done & dusted. In spite of its issues I had a fantastic time with the game and look forward to returning for the dlc.

Playing AC Shadows via Ubi+ and am enjoying my time. There isn't one aspect of the game that does anything spectacularly or is particularly innovative. However, taken as a whole it all comes together to create an immersive & interesting story experience (at least for me.)

@VoidPunk that would be a nostalgia trip for me too. FF11 was first mmo addiction and the source of my 4am bed times i just mentioned 🙂

Guild Wars 2 for old times sake.

That said I think I am done with mmos these days. I wouldn't be able to keep up the gaming variety I enjoy now and also play an mmo. There just aren't enough hours in a day for me to do that and my days of playing till 4am are long behind me.

@JayJ Yeah because this was hammered out, signed and sealed in the 8 days since Shadows launched, come on now!

This was always happening and Shadows success is probably making Tencent execs very happy they secured this deal to get a cut of Ubisofts future.

I must admit this kind of has me worried about The Division 3 ever being released. I guess seeing how well the Brooklyn dlc for Division 2 sells or not will seal its fate.

I hope I will get to play Div 3 but now I am not all confident that it won't just be another corpse added to the all ready large pile a canned Division projects.

Not something I think I would enjoy but I guess cool for folks who want a second life (but don't want to play Second Life.)
