Another weekend rolls around! As we close out March 2025, there's plenty to be going at across Xbox platforms - including a bunch of Free Play Days titles and the much-anticipated Atomfall which is now live on Xbox Game Pass.
Here's what we're playing this weekend:
Ben Kerry, Staff Writer
The bulk of my weekend will be spent playing an upcoming Xbox title for review, so be on the lookout for that on the site in the coming days! However, I will be trying to squeeze in some other bits of gaming time where I can.
Some of that time will likely be spent playing Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown. Anyone who saw my review last year, and my hands on with the Ibiza expansion, will know I have mixed feelings on the open-world racer - but this month's Season 3 update was a real step in the right direction. The team has added a few single-player QOL features like pausing and race restarts, and Season 3 also marks the return of some classic Test Drive Unlimited event types like car delivery missions. These are baby steps, sure, but Solar Crown is getting there and I have faith that the year-one version of the game will be in a much better state.
Happy gaming, everyone!

I've only the chance to dip into a little of Atomfall so far, and I've enjoyed what I've played. If I can find the time for it, I'll definitely be digging into more of Rebellion's new IP on Xbox Game Pass over the weekend.
Beyond that, I still haven't really started MLB The Show 25, the new snowmobile game Sledders is calling to me, and I might even have to pick up INZOI on PC to see what the hype is about ahead of its planned Xbox release.
Have a good weekend, folks!

I'm back on Game Pass, and playing Spiritfarer at the moment.
How did I miss this gem? No idea. But 9.5/10, almost the perfect cosy game.
Playing and enjoying Assassin's Creed Shadows. I'm 50 hours in and enjoying every second.
Amazing game. I've only experienced one (minor) bug so far.
Back in Atari 50 after picking up the dlc for it, and probably some more Atomfall
Atomfall is done & dusted. In spite of its issues I had a fantastic time with the game and look forward to returning for the dlc.
Playing AC Shadows via Ubi+ and am enjoying my time. There isn't one aspect of the game that does anything spectacularly or is particularly innovative. However, taken as a whole it all comes together to create an immersive & interesting story experience (at least for me.)
Mainly AC Shadows - and I really, really enjoy it! As been said, it looks amazing. The seasons are a fun addition as well. I've changed the settings so that quest markers arent added to the map automatically but I need to either use scouts or search myself, increasing the immersion. I prefer playing as Naoe, as Yasuke feels a bit to powerful but he has his uses sometimes, like storming a castle and wreaking havoc! I also really like to expand and build the hideout. I've spent some time making japanese gardens, very fun. Cant wait to play more!
Atomfall - I've played about an hour but it didnt really click for me. Might be because I just want to play Shadows instead, so I'll leave it for now but might go back to it in the future!
This weekend I'm playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance.
Back to Assassin's Creed Shadows for me
Getting my sealegs back in Warzone to prepare for the return to Verdansk
Also some Resogun on the PlayStation Portal
Just started the Witcher 3 so I'll be playing that this weekend hopefully get properly into the game!
And I'll play mullet madjack as well just to keep the reward streak going happy weekend people ✌️👍
Still rocking Avowed! Fantastic game.
Last weekend on here, I said that I was slowly warming to AC Shadows…well, now I love it! Great looking game, great combat, and lots of great skills to unlock. My weapons of choice right now are a legendary Tanto (“Igan Sunset”), and a legendary Kusarigama (“Death Whisperer”). The Kusarigama was a game changer for me - it’s so good for crowd control. I still haven’t even got to the point in the game yet where you can freely change between Naoe and Yasuke! I also love the seasons in the game, which helps keeps things fresh. Japan is so pretty in the snow 😍
Atomfall, Really enjoying it so far. Loving just exploring and seeing what I can stumble across. Not a fan of the melee so I tend to use guns and the bow. Might even go for the full 1000g 😎
I wanted to play Gal Guardians, but it got sadly delayed on Xbox. I'm playing a bunch of shmups, Card-en-Ciel and a couple of old games on other systems.
KCD2 on Series X. I’ve reached the Kuttenberg area now, still exploring it and picking up side quests. I tried the photo mode today and was amused to find that after taking a picture and returning to the game, Henry says things like “That’s a good one!” or “What a view that is!”
Atomfall! I've only played for 20 minutes, but the game has already sunk it's claws into me lol. Can't wait to play more! Rebellion deserves all the success!
Since it's release on GP I've been playing 33 Immortals. Really fun game...but, with only 2 maps released so far and after you play each one 20 or so times, it gets a little boring. Unfortunately I think lack of content will cause this game to be shortlived, the third map isn't expected until end of 2025. The game itself is really fun and well made.
I will probably switch to stalker 2 this weekend as I never started it and after several patches think it's in a much better place
It's a three day weekend for me but boy oh boy it's hard making backlog decisions.
I'm currently playing through Star Wars Outlaws and Split Fiction on PS5
Kingdom Come Deliverance 1, Monster Hunter Wilds and Baldurs Gate 3 on PC
Batman Arkham Shadows on Quest 3.
I wish I still had the restraint and conviction to play one large game at a time!
Happy gaming everyone!
Only AC Shadows for me
Ac Shadows and Black Ops 6 on PS5. Shadows is excellent I'm about 30 hours in and barely scratched the surface trying to fully explore the map and just taking in the views the game looks incredible. I'm also tempted to start another playthrough of Avowed.
Started playing atlas Fallen in Wait for South of midnight.
The Sisters 2 - Road to Fame. Quite possibly the greatest video game in the entire history of humanity. Without this game, one's existence is devoid of all meaning and purpose.
I'm 72h into Avowed and entered the last area, what a great game! I just loved exploring it's world getting all totem items (finally a game with actual worthwhile collectibles) and treasure items. If I manage to finish, I'll be moving on to Atomfall. Happy gaming to all.
@Sol4ris Not as far as you, but a thoroughly engaging game. I want to finish before South of Midnight, but I may not make it. If not I'll move on to Claire Obscure: Expedition 33, which is my most anticipated game of the whole year so far anyway. Still will probably try South of Midnight though, even if I'm not done with Avowed yet.
Avowed (Series X) Got to Emerald Stair and started exploring this region. Recently started using a spellbook and pistol.
WWE 2K24 (Series X) Continuing with GM Mode, we just had our second PPV and I am still in the lead with WCW.
Heroes of Might and Magic III (PC) I got the itch to play this game again so I started a new campaign.
Breath of Fire (Switch) Been awhile since I played this one. It's one of my favorite RPGs on the SNES.
Midway through Gears of War 3 with a buddy in coop. The goal is to go through the entire series that way. It’s tons of fun and watching the series mature/evolve is quite an experience.
Also, just started The Darkness. Loving it so far (2-3 hours into the game).
I'm absolutely hooked on Atomfall! The way it refuses to hold your hand is incredible—it perfectly complements the narrative. The smaller areas are a genius touch, making loading and reloading impressively quick.
I wasn’t expecting the next Fallout, and honestly, I’m glad it isn’t. Sure, some might argue it’s not the prettiest, largest, or most complex game out there, but wow, it’s so much fun!
As for Stalker 2, it was my most anticipated game on GamePass, and I can’t express how disappointed I was—and still am. I haven’t finished it and, truthfully, I doubt I ever will. Avowed, on the other hand, is enjoyable, but it feels a bit too… cheerful for my taste.
Atomfall scratched the itch I've been yearning to satisfy since The Outer Worlds and I can't wait to get back to it!!!
The First Berserker: Khazan, after 1 or 2 weeks, I m just at half of the game with a level 90; started with demo and continue with early access, strongly addicted, not perfect but bloody good.
Assassins’s creed shadows. Which will be my answer for the next few months.
Avowed and WWE2k24 on xbox.
Xenoblade chronicles x for switch.
Tried Atomfall but my saves wiped for some reason... I'll be skipping it for a while
Microsoft Wordament (Android) - Dailies and Adventure mode as usual.
Final Fantasy (Windows Phone) - Making decent progress so far. I'm nearing the end for sure.
Droplitz Delight (Windows Phone) - Still a fun puzzler to play in bursts.
Finally finished Avowed, 4days 6hours. Good game, but the ending was not a high point and extremely wordy. A really good 8/10 anyway!
I'm likely to start Atomfall today, but I also have Star Ocean the Second Story R to play and I'm tempted to start this too.
Whatever you are playing, I hope you have fun!
S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 of course!
I've just started Flintlock, but really I'm just waiting for South of Midnight 👍
Well here we go with another crazy WAYP. The week was some awesome games all around. Mostly Trails Through Daybreak, Mario and Luigi, Monster Hunter, Pirate Yakuza, WWE2K25, Dynasty Warriors Origins, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD and Super Mario Party Jamboree. Yeah I finally beat Jamboree and while I wasn’t able to do it 100% doing such a thing was honestly gonna just be more trouble then it was worth. There are like legit 2 bad mini games in a collection of like 100 but hey now I’m done with it and can move on. Now it’s just like the Mario RPGs of last year and Luigi’s Mansion that I gotta catch up on. Started Atelier Yumia too and I dunno I feel pretty confident I can finally beat an Atelier game because man was that first session so much fun. The characters, the story, the world all of it was absolutely beautiful. Also started WWE2K25 and Assassins Creed Shadows and both are absolutely excellent for different reasons. WWE is absolutely fantastic with its Bloodline Showcase mode and the game controls so smoothly now. Assassins Creed on the other hand was genuinely riveting with its story hook and I can’t wait to dig into it more and more. Most of the weekend was spent with Donkey Kong and Mario and Luigi Brothership and the Fatal Fury City of the Wolves Beta. That last one I gotta shoutout because after the last beta I was honestly thinking of giving up on that game but this beta not only changed me around on that but really made me go wow I love fighting games. Rest of the weekend I’m thinking is gonna be some Monster Hunter Wilds. Monster Hunter is still fun as always and I wanna do more and more of the story. Otherwise I’m thinking this week is mostly gonna consist of some Trails Through Daybreak, Mario and Luigi Brothership, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, Tales of Graces F Remastered, Split Fiction, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, Dynasty Warriors Origins, Monster Hunter Wilds, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Disgaea 7 and Pirate Yakuza. Still wanna wanna try to start Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition and of course be hype for the Switch 2 Direct with it. Speaking of Directs the one from this week was absolutely amazing I loved it my stand out reveals from it being No Sleep For Kaname Date and the Raidou Remaster. The wrestling thing this week being WrestleMania 41. Yeah I’m just gonna drop talking about the Road to WrestleMania and just say that between the two Main Events of WrestleMania 41 I gotta admit that I think they can at least deliver on that front. Anime of the week gotta go to Solo Leveling, 100 Girlfriends and Shangri La Frontier. Also gotta work in some movies like A Complete Unknown and Anora. Podcasts of this week gotta go to Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Punching Up, Easy Allies, Second Wind, Nextlander, Cultaholic Wrestling, Weapon Wheel Podcast and Remap Radio. As always yall stay safe, be awesome to each other. Let’s get hype for this Switch 2 Direct and let’s hope we can all get one. Have a totally safe and awesome weekend and of course Happy Gaming.
Avowed, 33 immortals and split fiction
I've been playing Farty Marty Bubble Fart Quest, it's been pretty good so far, very strange game though. The game came with a scratch and sniff card. I regret scratching it. I can't get the smell of soapy farts out of my nose. It's a smell you'll never forget.
