One of the big stories coming out of yesterday's Switch 2 Direct from an Xbox perspective was the fact that Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade was announced for Switch but not Xbox - but apparently it's still on the way to us this year.
This is according to known leaker "NateTheHate" on social media, who advised to Pure Xbox member "awp69" that Final Fantasy 7 Remake is still targeting this year, whereas Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is expected on Xbox in 2026.
This was actually first reported by the same leaker back in January - they claimed at the time that FF7 Remake was 2025 and FF7 Rebirth was 2026, and that both games would also be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. It was also mentioned that Final Fantasy 16 was coming to Xbox, but it didn't appear at the Xbox Developer Direct as speculated.
That's your update, then - although as always with rumours, you should take them with a pinch of salt. If we hear anything about Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Rebirth or Final Fantasy 16 on Xbox, we'll let you know about it ASAP.
Which of these would you most want to play on Xbox? Let us know down in the comments below.

I'm a little interested in 16 to be honest. Which is more than I can say about this one.
Hoping we get that one too.
watch it be $90 on xbox
@RexPowercolt It really shouldn't even be more than $50, but we shall see.
You quoted me! I’m famous!
Remake is not very good, it looks better but doesn't have any soul. It's like when you see an actor who is just doing a movie for the money and is otherwise not interested in the project.
So it doesn't matter to me if we never see this on Xbox.
At this point I hope they realize they won't get high sales... and I personally wouldn't pay full price for it either. You signed a deal and screwed a fanbase... what you gonna do for us is more of the mood vs celebrating the game.
I disliked ff7 remake. I definitely won't be double dipping on that one and probably won't ever give the other ff7 games a chance.
I wish they had made ONE game, instead of a trilogy.
Especially part 2, has so much bloat (not uncommon with modern JRPGs), that I got bored and never went back to finish it.
@Jarl76 Literally ALL they had to do was remake the original game with the new design/graphics, but they turned it into an action game instead of turn-based . I've been torn over it for a long time and not sure I'll ever play it unless it is on Game Pass. Hopefully they don't do the same with FFIX remake and I'd buy day one ports of FF Tactics: The War of the Lions and Chrono Trigger.
@awp69 You made it big! Now go forth, write a book!
I don't at all doubt that it's coming. Unlike Jez, Nate is one of the more reliable folks in the biz. I think we get an announcement at the summer showcase, or, prior to the Switch 2 launch or just after - but deffo pegging it for 2025.
@Kaloudz Yeah, that’s the only reason I asked Nate is because I trust him. Would never do the same with Jez or 90% of the other “insiders”. They’ll come.
@awp69 Good call bud. Jez (and most of the others) are the sort of leakers that literally only state the obvious, or, state things they can easily back-peddle on, or, my fave, say a whole lot without saying anything at all...
@Krzzystuff it's Xbox. They realize there won't be high sales.
After Nate correctly reported on the Switch 2 news coming on January 17 (or was it 16? I don't remember...), I firmly believe that Final Fantasy VII Remake will be released on Xbox this year. Even though it hasn't been announced yet, maybe it will be released simultaneously with the Switch 2 version.
I’m assuming Nintendo paid to have a bit of exclusivity with this title to help shift the Switch 2 at launch (even if it’s just for the build up). And we will either see this on Xbox at the same time or shortly after that.
And it will play better on Switch 2 as well!
