Another weekend begins! We've got a bunch of great new Xbox Game Pass titles to check out over the next couple of days, along with more Free Play Days additions and the Xbox Spring Sale 2025 "Sneak Preview" as well!
Here's what we're playing this weekend:

Well, I think this weekend is going to be all about South of Midnight for me. I've been playing it a bit this week and I'm absolutely loving it, so fingers crossed I can get it finished over the next couple of days. Aside from Split Fiction (which is incredible), it's the most enjoyable Xbox game I've played in 2025 so far.
That said, I haven't properly tried Blue Prince yet! That game's been getting ridiculous reviews and is being spoken about as a Game of the Year contender, so I'm going to have to dip into that and see what all the fuss is about.
Have a good weekend, folks!
What are you playing on Xbox this weekend? Let us know down in the comments below.

On PS5 still playing AC Shadows and i decided to give Death Stranding another go and I'm now 20 hours in and really enjoying it bought it a while ago and couldn't get into it but glad i decided to give it another try. On Xbox I'm playing South of Midnight it's fun but the combat is kind of repetitive should hopefully be finished today or tomorrow.
Starfield
It's almost always Starfield for me, roleplaying as UC Vanguard.
Game-of-the-gen for sci-fi/space fans.
I'll be on south of midnight this weekend going to try complete the game before Monday and I'll probably play some elden ring and black ops 6 multiplayer!
Happy weekend people ✌️
@TheGiraffe I'm glad you enjoy the game but I couldn't disagree more about starfield!
But happy weekend anyways ✌️
Anodyne 2!
I got a physical copy on Switch from LRG’s Vault Sale, and I think it’s brilliant! The atmosphere from the 3D sections is powerfully lonesome, while it is the writing that is so harrowing!
I can’t believe we can just have video games like this
I am going to start & hopefully finish South of Midnight. I understand it a pretty tightly woven & not overly long story which is perfect for me right now.
Any other spare time will be spent in the Path of Exile 2 beta. Though that has been pretty rough this week as the EU servers are in a bad state right now due to disconnection issues.
I briefly tried Blue Prince & its not for me so uninstalled. I am looking forward to diving into Baldur's Gate 3 next week once patch 8 drops which is why I don't want to start anything too time consuming this weekend.
South of Midnight. On chapter 7 at the moment.
Trying to finish off Botany Manor before it leaves Gamepass. Also replaying Destroy All Humans on PS2 and Rush on PSP.
Plus some Civ7.
Hello there fellow gamers.
This weekend I´ll continue playing AC Shadows on my Series X, Continue playing Split Fiction with my friend on my PS5 and will also continue playing Metroid Dread on my Switch.
Will eventualy play South of Midnight because it looks quite fun.
Cheers and happy gaming weekend everyone
After not playing much of anything this year, I’ve finally found something that’s cracked the ice: The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom. I’ve been really sick lately, so the whole thing is perfect for the time balanced between fever dreams while the medicine takes time to kick in. I’m loving the game. I never got to it last year and just sort of forgot about it. When I was stuck at home sick, I wanted to play something for a bit in bed and dusted off the Switch to remember I’d never gotten to it. It was just hiding, waiting for the right moment, I suppose.
Outside that, my family’s started up the Blue Prince as well, which we’re enjoying a lot too.
I feel like I’ve been a bit upset with my gaming this year so far, so I’m glad to be feeling a bit better with what I’m playing now, in spite of my illness. Silver linings, you know?
Still on with KCD2 on Series X. It’s an immense game! I also a quick look at Blue Prince before adding it to the ever-growing backlog - seems interesting.
Lots of Everquest and hopefully a few turns of my asynchronous multiplayer AoW4 game. Probably gonna be like this for the foreseeable future.
Blue Prince. It gets in your head in a way that's difficult to explain and it's been commanding my time.
Once I can drop that for a second, I'm loving South of Midnight and also AC Shadows. Neither are perfect, but I'm loving them both.
Whatever you are playing this weekend, I hope you have fun!
Avowed, Avowed and some more Avowed ❤️
@somnambulance I'm really sorry your ill man, I'm sending well wishes to you and your family. I'm hoping some good games help you cope too 🤞
Just finished Assassin's Creed Shadows last night. Loved it. I don't know what I'll play now. Maybe South of Midnight, yeah.
Stuck on backlog games ATM. Too embarrassed to say what I'm playing today
I did try Kingdom Come Deliverance with the aim of trying KCD2, but the head bobbing made me feel sick, so had to abort.
Was toying with the idea of Eternal Strands, but don't know enough to buy it (at 25% discount on Epic). I don't really like Souls-like games, and I didn't get on with Fenyx Rising - anyone got any tips on whether I should try it?
Is it a bit too cheaty boss heavy? Does it have lots of mindless 'move the blocks around' minigames?
South of Midnight on xbox and XCX DE on switch
This weekend I'm gonna play The First Berserker: Khazan on PS5, Balatro during down-time(Xbox or Switch), and probably South of Midnight(Xbox, obviously).
Will probably also continue my replay of God Eater 3 on Switch
Stepping away from the excellent KDC 2 (PC) this week for a little break and to show some love for other games in my ridiculously large collection I've been playing the following:
Conan Exiles (PC) - My perfect game for winding down. Having completed building a mighty fortress in my last game I decided to start anew, beginning with a small cottage, complete with an upper veranda. Just need to decorate it now. I also added a few visual mods as well to spruce things up.
Nier Automata (PS4) - Finally began this backlog entry. A marvelous game so far, sporting solid combat and fun exploration. Great soundtrack too. I can see why it's so popular. Cracking stuff.
Red Dead Redemption 2 (Series S) - Think I bought this in a deep sale sometime ago, but never started it. Yes while I'm very late to the party I'm very impressed thus far, especially with overall people performance on Microsoft's little box of tricks. It looks lovely, runs pretty well and I've found the experience very engaging. I agree with the train of thought that RDR 2 is more "cowboy simulator" than its predecessor, but you'll get no complaints here. I love it. Like Conan above I'm finding the experience very therapeutic.
Boltgun (PC) - Awesome pixel-art FPS. Bags of gore, lots of nooks and crannies to explore and the weapons in one's arsenal pack a real punch.
Mostly hopping between AC Shadows and South of Midnight. No idea how far I am into the story in ACS, just keep getting sidetracked and exploring the gorgeous world they’ve created. SoM is another gorgeous looking game. I’m in chapter 9 and really enjoying it. If I get time I will also try out Commandos origins.
AC for me. Absolutely love the IP.
@Ricky-Spanish
It's interesting that so many here sing South of Midnight's praises as anywhere one chooses to look reports show that it has flopped hard.
That's not to take away anyone's enjoyment, just an observation on my part.
@Isca What game are you playing were all friends here no secrets 🤗
Basically the same as last week 🥳
AC Shadows - and still loving it! I dont burn out on these games, which is great for me 🙂 the patch that dropped earlier in the week was great, it made an already stunning world even more stunning on the Pro! What a world they've built, cant get enough! Also you can now sell/dismantle multiple items at once, but why the f that wasnt there from release is just baffling. Dont know how much of the main game I've done, I'm still on act 1 as I keep getting sidetracked and I love it 🙂
South of Midnight - Been looking forward to this so had to try it for a little bit but I could tell from that short time its s game I'll probably love. Very promising. But first Shadows, then this 🙂
@NishimuraX I wouldn't know about that buddy how the game performs financially is nothing to do with me or wouldn't make me enjoy it any less especially when it's as good as this game is ✌️
@Ricky-Spanish
Well I did say it was just an observation. People here seem to like it, but it has flopped quite badly in the bigger picture - which is a shame as we need more take a chance video games.
@NishimuraX I'd say the game is doing ok on gamepass and the reviews are mostly good that I've seen here on pure Xbox it could be going worse 🤷 maybe the longer it's out the more traction it gets.
Have you tried it yourself??
I’ll probably start South of Midnight this evening.
@Ricky-Spanish
"Have you tried it yourself?"
No, but I'm not criticising the quality or lack of regarding the game, only highlighting that it's a commercial flop. Which on further investigation it appears it is. Again, a shame as it will deter other developers from taking a chance on new IP. Wouldn't you agree?
@NishimuraX I really don't know it seems like it's doing well on gamepass so and getting big numbers through the subscription and getting good reviews so hopefully Microsoft take that into account!
I wasn't insinuating you were saying that the game was a lacking I just wanted to know if you tried it yourself it's very good if you decide to give it a go!
Films and series do well on Netflix without selling a single copy hopefully games can do the same on gamepass and still be appreciated overall by people and those who finance the games.
@Ricky-Spanish
Well it is on my wish list, but I've a few games to explore before I take the plunge. As for your other point? Well, we shall see. However, it has failed to light a fire on Steam peaking at just 1,411 players and showing no signs of rebounding in any meaningful way over the weekend.
I’m close to the end of Gears 4. What an amazing game it is! Graphics and gunplay are amazing. I’ve been playing through the whole series in coop with a buddy and it’s been a blast.
Already finished South of Midnight. My expectations were low, and Sweet Baby Inc.: The Game was up to them.
Absolutely amazing soundtrack, though.
@NishimuraX Sure time will tell my friend🤗
And enjoy red dead redemption 2 it's probably my favorite game ever!!
Happy weekend 🖖
@Ricky-Spanish
"enjoy red dead redemption 2 it's probably my favorite game ever!!"
I can see why you like it. It is rather excellent I must say. Gorgeous visuals and utterly engaging. Can't believe I put it off for so long.
I'm past the huge intro and early gameplay learning quests am now just off exploring the wilderness, doing a bit of hunting. Keep finding all these little side stories and mysteries. Yes, a magnificent game.
@Ricky-Spanish
Europa Universalis IV on PC
Prob my best run ever
Must ... play .. Star Wars Outlaws ... next. I'm putting 194% tariff on all other backlogged games....
It’s Harold Halibut as I have just 5 achievements to go… also a little bit of Blue Prince on the side… BP is definitely the evolution of the Escape Room type of game… enjoying the cozy pace as I am only timed so far by my next move….
Avowed (Series X) Still plugging away at this game so far I am 30 hours in and still enjoying it.
Diablo III (Series X) Since it came to Gamepass and I have been itching to play it again I decided to start a Crusader. I just hit level 20.
Madden 25 (Series X) After finishing up my college career I decided to go Pro and transfered my character to Madden where I was picked first round by the Broncos. So far we are 2 and 2 and looking to add to that win record this weekend.
@Isca You enjoy bro 🖖👏✌️
@Tasuki So are you playing as a single player in a team doing that in college football and Madden or controlling a team??
I'm from Ireland so I don't have a clue about these games but would love to do some sort of career mode in them.
Avowed right now. I plan to start Blue Prince and final finish (hope-hope) Metaphor Refantazio. This week I completed South of Midnight (coming away very impressed) and Sniper Elite 5 (great immersion on "Authentic" difficulty).
Getting my hybrid crops harvested in SoS A Wonderful Life and taking on Shredder's minions in TMNT Shredder's Revenge before I take a break, and lose all sense of time, once my new copy of Final Fantasy XV arrives. Haven't played a FF game since '99, but I am looking forward to it.
Have a great weekend, folks.
@Ricky-Spanish So you start with EA College Football 25 create a character you pick your position say Quarterback and you only play that character. So if they don't put you in the game for example you don't play that game. However there is side stuff to do like weekly drills that you do to build your skills up and of course keeping your GPA up.
Once you finish up your four years of College you or if you have good enough skill points you can declare yourself for the NFL Draft. Once you do that you import your saved character to Madden 25 and go pro.
Droplitz Delight (Windows Phone) - Just going to work on this for the time being.
Enjoying South of f Midnight this weekend. Also downloaded Commandos Origins to see what that's about.
@Tasuki Sounds good I might just give it a try as a quarter back I like more the idea of playing as a single player than a team.
I'll probably start one as a quarter back when I finish south of midnight see how it goes thanks for the info much appreciated 👏
South of Midnight and AC:Shadows for me. Loving both games but admitting that South of Midnight is probably gonna pull me away from shadows. What a splendid game. While I am Southern, I’m not from the Deep South but woo this game’s opening hours feels so good to play. And it’s finally a game that feels real. Makes it a little hard to play sometimes as I have to take a break. Loving the folklore/mythology callbacks and comparing some of the folklore I grew up with in this. Has a sorta oldschool feel to it that reminds me of earlier, ambitious games. Will be buying this next payday.
Well here we go with another cool WAYP. The week was some cool games all around. Mostly Trails Through Daybreak, Mario and Luigi, Monster Hunter, Pirate Yakuza, WWE2K25, Dynasty Warriors Origins, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD and Assassin’s Creed Shadows. All continue to be excellent games, loads of fun all around I don’t think any of the games are bad so far they’re all exciting and feel good to play. Most of the weekend was spent with…. No games. Yep that’s right I was in NYC this weekend seeing the GF again. Watched Coachella actually it was pretty neat. Charli XCX rules. Rest of the weekend I’m thinking is gonna be some Monster Hunter Wilds. Yeah the plot is absolutely kicking into high gear with Monster Hunter and I couldn’t be happier this game absolutely rules each new monster is better then the last man it’s so cool. Otherwise I’m thinking this week is mostly gonna consist of some Trails Through Daybreak, Mario and Luigi Brothership, Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake, Tales of Graces F Remastered, Split Fiction, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD, Dynasty Warriors Origins, Monster Hunter Wilds, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Disgaea 7, Atelier Yumia and Pirate Yakuza. Still wanna try to start Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition but work continues to be well….. work. Let’s just hope a Switch 2 is easy to get eh? The wrestling thing this week is WrestleMania 41. We basically got all the matches announced and yeah it’s genuinely kinda peak it’s like some of the best matches around. Here’s hoping we can see almost every title change or at least gimme a win for Jacob Fatu and Penta for the US Championship and Intercontinental Championship respectively. Anime of the week gotta go to Solo Leveling, Okitsura, Dragon Ball Daima, 100 Girlfriends and Shangri La Frontier. Yeah picked Okitsura back up again and honestly loving how much it’s teached me about Okinawa. And with Daima I finished that with the GF and honestly it was super cute and fun. Also gave the Devil May Cry anime a shot and I found it pretty cool and it’s given me the DMC bug again, feeling that big Vergil vibes. Podcasts of this week gotta go to Castle Superbeast, Big Think Dimension, Into The Aether, RPGsites Tetracast, Minnmax, Jeff Gerstmann, Kit and Krysta, Punching Up, Easy Allies, Second Wind, Nextlander, Cultaholic Wrestling, Weapon Wheel Podcast, Let’s Anime and Remap Radio. As always yall stay safe, be cool to each other. Have a totally safe and cool weekend and of course Happy Gaming.
Had a bit of a DIY weekend, so not played that much. I started playing Atomfall on Sunday, but unfortunately it kept giving me the motion sickness. I'll try again at some point... so I moved onto some Vampire Survivors, then played some Balatro later on the Switch.
@Tasuki I tried college football and I'm enjoying it so far I'm a QB at Michigan I'm still learning the game not doing great but getting there thanks for the info buddy 👍always wanted to get back into the American football games ain't played one properly since the 360!
@Ricky-Spanish Yeah I really enjoyed College Football alot. My QB was with Boise State before going to the Denver Broncos. I also have a Running Back that's with Wisconsin and a Wide Receiver with Air Force. I really like the fact that you can continue on ward with Madden after your done with College.
@Tasuki Yeah that's the main reason I gave it a go going through the college game into madden NFL pro!
I'm still just really learning now but I'm hoping to play a season with a full team after I get my pro into Madden by then I should know the game enough not to be terrible ha!
Thanks again for the info 👏
