We're really counting down the days now until Xbox's release of Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2 on May 21st, and Ninja Theory is making that wait even harder after sharing four stunning screenshots of the game's Photo Mode in action.
These were apparently taken earlier this week, and this is the first confirmation we've had of a Photo Mode:
It was revealed back in January that Hellblade 2 would be arriving on Xbox Game Pass in just a few short months, and since then it's become available for pre-install on the Xbox Store - although you can't actually pre-order it yet.
Nevertheless, it will be with us very soon indeed, and we're quietly confident this is going to be one of the best Xbox exclusives we've seen in a while. Hopefully we haven't just jinxed it... it just looks too good to be a letdown!
Here are some blown-up versions of those four Hellblade 2 screenshots:
What do you make of these? Let us know down in the comments section below.

I mean graphically it looks incredible. Especially that last shot.
We all know it's gonna look great. I just hope it's fun. Haven't played the first one yet, so I can't really talk too much.
The tech is great, but unfortunately I really didn’t enjoy the first game. I’m looking forward to probably watching the game’s cutscenes on YouTube.
First game had a cool premise but was very boring hopefully the new one is a bit better in the actual gameplay department
My heart breaks every time I click on the "pre-order on Amazon" button.
I'm so excited for this game. I loved the first one, and Hell Blade 2 is one of the reasons why I continue to be interested in Xbox games. I'll probably get it twice though because I'm still convinced a physical version will come along in the future.
This looks simply stunning! Haven’t played the first game yet, but this is a must play already.
Fancy photo modes that capture higher than running resolution, etc, don't really do anything for me.
All I want/need are brightness and blur to mimic ISO and shutter speed, then depth of field to mimic aperture.
MS bought NT for $500 million dollars is what i seen. If thats true they will be worth every dime going forward. I would like to see them make something other than Hell Blade after this one arrives.
I'm sorry I just can't get into these slash and dash games. It's just mindless button smashing. I'll take a hard pass on this and continue hoping some quality FPS's like those found on Steam (not call of duty) eventually make their way to gamepass. Why isn't ready or not on consoles yet?!
Played most of the first game. Had a hard time staying interested. These pics look great, but I cannot see myself liking this enough to play it. I hope I'm wrong.
One of my most anticipated games of the year. I loved the first one. Very much looking forward to this!
@Lup the first one isn’t fun imo. It was an annoying slog.
@HonestHick They’ve spent 5+ years creating a 5 hour game. I dread to think how long another game from them will take.
Hoping the second improves on the combat and is more exciting than the first.
I'm wondering how many players will avoid that game that are schizophrenic themselve or will discover they are in fact schizophren my brother is and never played the first game even witg meds my brother still hear voices or whisperings.
@ScoTTieDLighT That all depends on the game and how you play it. If you play a game on easy or normal, then yeah, someone who plays games at all could probably shlub through it in a timely manner. Don't use the majority of game mechanics, make tons of mistakes, and still succeed.
As for Ready or Not, releasing on PC is simpler and far less restrictive than publishing to consoles. A dev doesn't even have to use a storefront, necessarily. The PC is wide open and has state-of-the-art consumer tech.
Maybe I'm just jaded, but just like with visual effects in movies, realistic graphics don't impress me anymore. I just think it's boring.
Can’t wait to complete the game in half a day and then delete it
@HonestHick I don't know man they did Bleeding Edge before and that game was ***** 😂
First game was boring … hopefully this can be on assassin creed / god of war level and not so restricted in gameplay
Hope it won't turn out to be another Redfall
I still have a feeling this will be the modern day equivalent of Dragons Lair - a game that looks far beyond its peers but ultimately has a disappointing game-play loop.
From what we have seen, It could also be more an interactive 'movie' too - we haven't exactly seen much 'action' yet either. and the 'making of' video's have had more in common with Making movies. I didn't enjoy the puzzle elements of the first, trying to find that perfect spot to line up the shapes to create the Rune and the Combat was 'functional', but nothing amazing.
If it wasn't for the way they tackled the Mental Health and the Audio landscape, the first would likely have been a pretty mediocre 'Game'. It's still praised for that today.
I fear that Game-play will be secondary, that its more a 'Movie' with some interactivity along the way. At least I can decide if its 'worth' my time when it releases, not spend money on pre-ordering/buying only to find my fears were realised...
Really interested in seeing this tech and engine hopefully pushing series x hardware, it looks great.
But I didn't enjoy the first game much, and am not convinced an 8 hour interactive movie is good value for the investment MS has made, so I hope it turns out to be substantially more than it seems to be..
My big hope for 1st party this year remains Avowed and Indy, but Id be genuinely delighted if this game surprises me.
People seem to be impressed by the 'eye shot', and it is a great image.
But to put it in context, UE5 offers loads of amazing tools and shaders for eyes that can produce such results in UE5. An example: https://images.app.goo.gl/M5efc63WjQNp7dGe9
Im not knocking the work shown here, its excellent. But in the context of current gen engines, its not pushing the boundaries any more than other in development titles imo.
@TheSimulator I think that’s a very big pile of hope. I enjoyed the 1st game but they already said it’s around the same run time. This is going to be a focused, linear adventure you can finish in a day rather than a grand open plain to explore. Which isn’t to say it will be bad, just that I’d lower those expectations a touch.
@Weebleman why would Xbox not push to create a bigger franchise ? Seems like a waste of hype with the music performance too
@TheSimulator Its simply not that type of game is the long and short of it. Plus, look at the length of time taken to create what is essentially, at best, an 8 hour game (which this has been confirmed to be). Its a focused, story driven linear title from a relatively small studio. They may push for a bigger franchise one day but i doubt it will be with this as its dependant on the linear style to tell the story.
@Cherip-the-Ripper well this is true. Let’s hope they have learned from that. 😅
If you didn't enjoy the first game, or didn't even play it, why are you commenting. No one cares that you didn't like it. I'm stoked for this game since i loved the first one, but why do you think every game has to be for you, or a call of duty action game. FFS how old are the people commenting here?
