We saw a few surprise announcements for Xbox following the Nintendo Direct earlier today, including Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance which is heading to the platform this June, and a new Star Wars collection arriving on March 14th.
Seeing as it's just a few weeks away, let's take a look at the Star Wars one - which is known as Star Wars: Battlefront - Classic Collection. This is a repackaging of the first two games in the Star Wars Battlefront series, which are already available via backwards compatibility, but the big difference this time is the addition of 64-player online support.

"Fight in iconic battles from across the STAR WARS™ galaxy. Play the classic STAR WARS Battlefront games on modern consoles, online and offline in this complete classic collection."
Some of the other new features in this Classic Collection include an expanded version of the Hero Assault mode, which is playable across more maps than ever, along with the inclusion of bonus maps for both games (Jabba's Palace in the first, and Bespin: Cloud City, Rhen Var: Harbor, Rhen Var: Citadel, and Yavin 4: Arena in the second).
If you're interested, the Star Wars: Battlefront - Classic Collection is available to pre-order today on the Xbox Store with a 10% discount, bringing it down to £26.31 / $31.49. We'll try and bring you a review in a few weeks' time!
Excited for this? Still playing the originals via backwards compatibility? Let us know in the comments.

The nostalgia... Might have to get this at launch, even though I'm still chipping away at Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden.
I just redownloded the 2nd one (BC is amazing) but will delete and wait for this as it will have achievements and online 👌
The price is a bit steep though
Day 1. Gonna be a ~2 week is late birthday present to myself. 😂
I still play the OG on PC and through Backwards compatibility on Xbox.
If this game actually has full games of 64 players, between it, and Star Wars Battlefront VR, I will be set for a long time.
Is there a physical copy for Xbox?
EDIT: Looks like it has crossplay as well to make sure there is a good population. Even though Switch and PS5 would have an advantage due to gyro aiming, gonna be great.
Hopefully the rumors about the new Xbox controller revision having it are true too.
The big question I have is: does the campaign have online co-op or is it only splitscreen!?
This is the way
Definitely picking this one up.
Never played them, so I have zero nostalgia for these ones.
Should have been absolute remasters to be honest but it’s cool they are doing this and I hope it helps to breathe new life into these games. It’d be cool to play them online again and get decent number of people on to play against.
Already have it via backwards compatibility and the price is a bit steep just for online and no major improvements. I'll maybe wait for a sale.
This version of SWBF games collection appears to be a REMASTER like the TombRaider I-II-III collection that was recently released by the same publisher and developer, Aspyr. They updated the visuals and controls but to look like you think you remember them. I doubt this collection will be compatible with the originals BC versions.
yea but will it play cross platform
It would be really awesome if they also had the vehicle dashboards from the first game in the second one.
Will this be cross play though? I can't find any confirmation of this.
The tags in the Xbox shop do NOT have cross play.
I won't support a multiplayer game in 2024 that's segregated across 4 different platforms. That's ridiculous and outdated and shouldn't be supported.
These games were cool back in the day, but the netcode was terrible and people's internet connections as a whole were pretty poor. The lag was the one thing that kept these games from being a blast. I'll probably be taking a look at them. I do hope they launch into one service or another though, because I don't know how long a mulitplayer game like this can survive on just nostalgia alone.
@InterceptorAlpha is gyro support confirmed somewhere? That would literally be the only reason I would personally go ahead and purchase it actually.
