The pacing of the updates has been too slow. I won't return until they implement the larger updates they said they were going to do plus add the DLC I already paid for.
Persona 5 Royal 10/10 for every year. BG3 8/10 at best and lower with the performance issues in game (Not even counting the save issue from the Xbox side).
Cleary some people online have made a mountain out of a molehill. There is really no issue here at all as even some of their paid art looks pretty generic. I hope MS don't apologise because they have done nothing wrong. If anyone has a problem with this they need to go and touch some snow.
Game looks decent. Having a demo pre launch shows confidence in the product and is a smart move. I'm sure most of the hate for the game has been driven by non gaming reasons.
Also the Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown - Gameplay Overview Trailer would have been a better video to use for this article.
Microsoft is a software company first and foremost, it's how they have made Trillions of $ over the years. I would not be surprised if they long outlive Sony in the gaming space because as much as we may dislike it selling already dated hardware at a loss is not going to cut it as a long term strategy. Sony's debt/turnover shows the hardware route won't work forever. Technology waits for nobody.
I am approaching 100 hours on it - I have taken my time and gone into the game sometimes with a weeks break. I have been playing plenty of other great games in the meantime too.
I might be mistaken but this feels like the save files are too large and are hitting the save file partition limits which are in the save settings. The hardrive save then prevents the cloud save from working so you need to delete the local save and let the cloud re-load the save back on your system. I am unsure if you can change the partition size though.
@themightyant I wouldn't expect any new Xbox console in 2024 and the Series S is under £200 on Amazon with 3 months of GP! You won't get a deal much better than that right now!
Highlights for me were the Blade announcement for Xbox and Rise of The Ronin release date for PlayStation. The tame crowd reaction said it all. The biggest cheer of the night was for the free God of War dlc!
The best trailer came out a few days ago. Other really big hitters live Persona 6, Wolverine New AC games and even stuff like Silksong still missing.
For those who are not dungeons and dragons fans, familiar with the D&D ruleset or turn based games should really do their research on the game before getting swept up in the hype. I brought the game (Got swept up in the media hype) and sorely regretted it even though I love turn based games for a variety of reasons.
Just because it is a 10/10 game doesn't mean you'll automatically like it. I love Persona 5 Royal which has many 10/10s from the same media outlets but I know it won't be everyone's cup of tea.
If GTA 6 gets anywhere near this show everything Xbox could do (unless it has something to do with GTA 6) will get drowned out with everything else.
This leads me to the theory that GTA 6 won't be at the game awards and will do it's on thing a few days after.
As for Xbox I think they will do some game announcements (like BG3), prob a bit more info for those 2024 games and if we are very lucky they may announce that new controller. A hardware announce seems unlikely though.
I'd expect dev direct again in early 2024 looking at games like Hellblade 2, Flight Sim 2024 and Avowed with a lot more on non announced projects and any new hardware in summer 2024.
The game awards is a marketing show with some awards attached. Nobody should take it seriously. If we are going by the most popular/best selling game of 2023 it is Hogwarts Legacy.
Looking forward to what Xbox has to offer up in 2024. Starfield alone offered up more to me than any any Playstation "exculsive" by an insurmountable amount which was a big suprise (Ghost of Tsuhima my fave Playstation game). I had some hopes for Spider-man 2 this year but it felt so awfully bland like a sugar free diet.
This will be a day (whenever the English dub is patched in) on Gamepass for me. Hopefully the wait should not be too long (Esp as Infinite Wealth is out in Jan).
I'm ready for the next console update. I have been playing here and there and gotten to about 65 hours In. I'm on Series X and luckily only had one crash within the first 15 hours. I was advised early on to delete all but the first few saves and this really does help. I also fully power down my xbox every as it still saves my quick resume and save me on my electricity bill. I've had a couple of random visual glitches but far less issues than the 14 hours I had with Spider-man 2.
@AccessibleDaydream So Phil Spencer not only looks after Xbox gaming but non Xbox Windows PC gaming, and Non Xbox mobile gaming such as King's Candy Crush.
Non Xbox gaming in the mobile market is a key area of growth for Microsoft and that is why they spent so much on the ABK deal.
Sarah Bond will now look after the Xbox within the Microsoft gaming divsion on a day to day basis.
A new CEO will come in to look after Activison Blizzard within the Microsoft gaming division in early 2024.
@Lup Sadly external conterversies mean this won't get nominated for anything even though it has sold more copies than anything else this year and deserves to.
@kaiofelipe Yeah you have potentially another 50 - 60 hours left to play. My playtime was 120 hours on Easy mode so.. I would highly recommend getting the game with the leaving discount or try and get a cheap disc version.. 100% worth it.
Luckily I already own it on PS but I might get this on discount for Xbox when it hits the 50% mark. To be fair its easily worth £50 as a 120-130 story that is one of the best rated of this and last generation.
One thing ubisoft has going for it is R* level game engine optimsation. Watch Dogs Legion is one of the only AAA games on the Series S to have full RT in a game.
You can expect Skull and Bones to run well as the final game of the old gen engines used.
I expect thier new teardrop engine to run very well on Series S with the new Avatar game and Star Wars Outlaws next year.
I like both games. Both games look good. The RT on Forza is impressive. In terms of gameplay I think I prefer Forzas driving and simple career mode. GT7 looks fancy with the carpg elements but the mtx put me off.
I'm about 55 hours in. I haven't played it much the last couple of weeks due to so many new games coming out but whenever I do jump in I have a great time and 3-4 hours just fly by. It is one of those games I can not play for weeks or months and instantly enjoy when I play it again. I am about halfway through the story but I am discovering new missons and large settlements on planets constantly. Some side missons can last an hour. I haven't even started the factions stuff yet! I think it's a 9/10 so far. With some addtional QOL patches and strong long term support this could easily be my Xbox game of the generation. I can only imagine Fable will challenge that title for me. GTA 6 or Persona 6 will probably be my actual game of the generation.

Re: Ubisoft Wants Players To 'Feel Comfortable Not Owning Games' In Future
Very true about things like Netflix and Spotify, gaming has been a bit slower to move over but I can see it happening in the next 5 -10 years.

Like others have said a decent line-up for a 1-2 month subscription. Especially if you don't have much of a backlog to be working on.
