I brought an Xbox Series X last week and very happy with it! My Series S served me well for almost 3 years.

Great to see the Series S has some decent modes. I finally upgraded to a Series X for Starfield and I feel like Forza MS along with the games coming out in the next couple of years will make the Series X a wise investment. If you are just getting into Xbox though the Series S is a great investment.

The question I am curious about is what is their current business model and why do they feel the need to change it? Does anybody actually know what they are currently doing revenue wise?

Also is it per install or per licence (per xbox account not per xbox)? Naturally all software engine companies need to make money but it should be fair an balanced.

I shall be check this one out!

No Mans Sky is the wish version of Starfield. Like what Saint Row remake is to GTA.

You've got to give Microsoft credit. Credit where credit is due.

Like a lot of people I'd go for a 9 so far. I'm about 30 hours in and I haven't even got to Akila City or Neon yet so very early in the story! It would be a 10 if the tutorials were stronger, cities had mini maps and there were less load screens/reduced loading times. If the story and NG+ are exceptional I could go up to a 10 or if they are weak down to a 7 or 8.

5 tips

1. You get 2 quick resume pins - use them. If you don't QR will only hold the last 4-5 games you have played and some older ones can drop out.

2. The QR will always boot out if you play the game on another console, PC or via cloud and also for updates.

3. Save often and always save before you exit the game via QR.

4. Esp for Statfield, it hordes saves as it autosaves freqently. This makes loading times get slower the longer you are into the game. you should delete all but the top 3 saves which speeds up loading later into the game. Your latest save will also be uploaded to the cloud.

5. If QR is not working for you at all it's time to reformat your SSD/RAM via settings

Also you should have to verify you own the game and have played for at least 5-10 hours before you can post a review.

@Cero Hopefully they can find a way to get 60fps or at least a 40fps VRR mode working in the future.

I have been really impressed with how this runs on Xbox Series X and even more so Series S after trying both for about 12 hours each. The extra time and resource given mean that these console exclusive games mostly get more investment per platform vs multiplat.

@Cero You should try to get it on steam where there is no fps lock. As long as you have the right PC you can hit above 60fps.

After about 25 hours I would agree so far it's about a 9/10. The loading screens and the odd bug knock down which is overwise a very very good game! This is exactly what Xbox needed to get right back on track and selling subs/hardware. I can imagine Forza MS will be a 9 or 10 too. The new Flight Sim 24 next year has 10/10 written all over it haha.

When is master league coming out though?

@Kevw2006 Yes but you have to factor in that there are timezones, people who work - not everyone will be on the game at all hours of the day. To be the 2nd highest cc in players across platforms behind Hogwarts Legacy is a great achivement for a single player game.

@Fiendish-Beaver Yes BG3 had a higher player count than Starfield on steam as it was only availible on steam at the time. Hogwarts Legacy was availible on steam and PS5/Xbox and still had a higher cc player count than BG3 on steam alone without counting consoles - which is why i mentioned that yes technically Hogwarts Legacy has that crown but it a great achivement for all of them as single player games.

@FatalBubbles Not really, you either want to play it or you don't! this isn't about what game sold the most copies or made the most money (Hogwarts Legacy) I am just tallking about the number of players who are actually playing the game. Any game that has over 1 million players playing a single player game at any one time is a insane achievement.

I guess if you exculde Gamepass then Hogwarts Legacy has the crown on everything.

Even more cocurrent players than Hogwarts Legacy and BG3 at it's peak - Thats crazy impressive for a single player game.

Edit - Technically Hogwarts Legacy had more cc players than Starfield because they were no1 for steam and consoles were not counted but 2nd is still crazy good!

I got dream home but got overwhelmed by all the custimisation you need to do straight from the game plus you can obtain other homes and you get your own room at the lodge.. I went to galbank and defaulted on it haha. Kid Stuff is a very rewarding trait. I also chose Empath. I am excited to try the other in another playthrough!

@Pranwell The best loot you can get (some signficant stuff) comes from side, faction and main missions. You'll get the odd really cool suit from a body but it's all randomised and could end up in a loot box.

As an example there was one side quest where I obtained a whole space ship. Took about an hour to do but it's a free ship!

Really loving this game so far, It's 100% a 8.5-9.5 rated game with what it does, with a minus for the loading screens and thr slightly dated game engine.. but overall very polished compared to many other launches (Looking at another Star themed game haha).

I have never played a BG game before so I think the trope of "you'll only like it if you like BG games" is simply misplaced and incorrect. I didn't like any of the previous BG games due to the settings.

I'm about 20 hours in so far and has some genuine wow moments or moments that make me laugh or smile which is very rare for games these days. I'm only on the 3rd story mission!

Shame it came months to late after most players have finished the game.

Ubisoft have well optimised game engines, they got Watch Dogs legion to have a RT mode and a locked 60fps mode on Series S. Same with a locked 60fps mode on Far Cry 6. People might laugh at the copy and paste nature of some of thier games but the engines they use really get the most out of console hardware.

The 30fps on this and Forza 5 are the 2 best implementions of 30fps I have seen. I think there is a motion stopping tech they use which really smooths out the exp. I'd rather have a locked 30 or 40fps than a unstsable 60fps.

I do think the the future there will be a 60fps lower res VRR option as the game will drop to the high 40's in the cities but VRR could clean that up to 60fps on XSX.

They could also do a 40fps high res VRR mode like Spiderman. I didn't think I would like 40fps but with VRR it looks and feel pretty good.

Just had the option pop up for me and I am def consdiering joining. I have had quite a few offers from diffrent places to do bounties or security! It's honestly so cool!

I'll be taking my time with the main story and the tens of hours on side quests and faction storylines. I can't wait to see what NG+ has in store though. A lot of people who have gotten there seem blown away by it.

I have enjoyed this game so much I brought the Standard version of the game to go alongside the premium upgrade I got to go with gamepass.

It's fine. and serves a purpose in the game where you could end up just travelling for days just to keep some realism.

@tallythwack They have the same SSD, pretty much the same speed as the PS5. The RAM is the main issue on the Series S.

I think MS should do a Xbox Series X digital for £400/$450. It would be the smartest way to get players onto a slightly more expensive console and get them into digital only.

They should drop the Series S in 512GB and the give the Carbon Black 1TB version a new price of £250/$299.

I brought a Series X yesterday after after having the Series S since launch. It served me well but as we hit the midpoint of this gen I felt it was time I upgraded.

Some mods on console would be great!

The enviormental design and detail might be some of the best I have ever seen in a game.

I'm abiut 3 hours in and really enjoying it so far. I am playing on the Series X now but I must say I am super impressed with the performance of the Series S after trying it on that. it's a great case point that with enough time, money and talent games can run great on Series S.

Just a warning fo those who want to play on gamepass at 1am on the 6th.. be paitient the MS servers will crash and you might not be able to get into the game until up to 45 mins later (You are too early message). For EA which was a much smaller pool of players it took me 28 mins to get into the game.

If anything the reviews have made me even more hyped for this game! going to not check anymore though as I want the opening to be fresh for me.

Starfield will dominate the month

@ArmoredMore it's a shame PX didn't get it earlier. I get why bgs might have beef with Eurogamer or Metro but this site is generally very Xbox positive and don't do the first to the punch get to the top of the of Google type reviews. (I'm sure SEO is important like any online business though)

I just got the feeling there will be another patch on Thursday haha.

I finished FF16 and now i'm ready for Sea of Stars! I will just have to find a way to juggle it between Starfield later this week and some other big game coming this September!

This is very much an EA play you're bored in May kind of game.

With Starfield, Eternights, that new truck driver game and FC 24 I could have a busy month!

Waiting for a Starfield one! The one with the controller is a bit bland.

This game could run on Xbox One S so I am fairly confident that the Series S has nothing to do with this delay!
