@somnambulance I guess one year is kinda get away with it, I think there will be a lot more criticism next year, depending on lack of release.

@somnambulance @Moonglow MLB the show 23 is 1st party even though it's a multiplat game, but it's kinda irrelevant because it was never going to make this list. I'm surprised to see Assassin's creed mirage and lords of the fallen up there though even though they're 70's on meta. Make no mistake though this is a 2 horse race between BG3 and ToTK even though neither of them would be my personal pick.

Zelda totk is game of the year for me and pikmin 4 a close second I've not played spiderman 2 yet

TOTK for me and Publisher of the year when all said and done Nintendo.
When you think TOTK, Pikmin 4 and Mario Wonder and maybe something else I might have missed all in 2023 that’s a big Nintendo year.

@OldGamer999 them 3 nintendo games are amazing they really are ive not played baldurs gate 3 yet but it will be between zelda totk baldurs gate 3 and spiderman 2 game of the year will be one of them 3 won that will win it

I think after over 30 hours of playing Starfield. On meta it got about 83% and putting many hours in TOTK and some in Mario Wonder and Spider man 2.
Starfield got about what it deserved give or take a few points for all the games meta scores.

You can easily see the overall quality and polish in the other two systems and feeling modern compared to Starfield and really what Starfield should have been. Only my little opinion.

@OldGamer999 Don't forget Mario RPG Remake next month. Nintendo had the best year thus far.

Absolute travesty that hogwarts isn't in there,my pick is spiderman 2 ,although baldurs will win it,even though act 3 is broken.

Went with starfield as number 1. I was a little disappointed (but not surprised) pikmin 4 wasn't listed among the 15 or so games. I think pikmin 4 is great and probably my second favorite this year over RE4, zelda and baldurs gate 3.

I probably won't get to Spider Man 2 or Alan Wake 2 before the year ends but I do have Mario Wonder on the way from amazon. I'm not expecting any of these 3 to alter my top 5 so I might be set.

Shout out to Hi-Fi Rush. Glad it got remembered. My top 3 of the year are probably Starfield, Hi-Fi Rush and Final Fantasy XVI. Need to finish Pikmin 4 but I expect that will be up there too. Not played Baldur’s Gate 3 or Spiderman 2 yet.

Have only played TotK and Starfield from that list. I'm enjoying Starfield quite a bit but I really don't think it should be on that list. It's a complete reskin of all Bethesdas other games right down to the robotic last gen animations. TotK the gameplay was incredible and the ingenious addition of being able to basically merge and create anything to solve puzzles wins it for me. A game that all my family can play and then argue over whose solution to the problem worked better!
Bit odd Alan Wake in there without being released. It either shows how rigged these awards are or its know to be amazing. Hopefully the latter.
Half want BG3 to win even though I haven't played it and don't think it's my type of game. But also think same with SM2. Just watching the opening 15 minutes had me hooked.
What a year for gaming!

Absolutely baffling how Lies of P lost out to Lords of the Fallen in these nominations. The former was a polished experience from day 1, while the latter launched in a rough state and is still in need of more patches to sort out the many technical issues.

I want Lords of the Fallen to succeed and the developers to have a chance to make a sequel, but there’s no denying that Lies of P was more deserving of a spot here.

It's my GOTY for sure.

FFXVI is on this list but not Hogwarts????? hahahhahaha XVI is mediocre at best
