Re: Former Xbox Exec Throws Shade At Switch 2, Says It's A 'Hard Pass'

Like all nintendo systems, there will be much better places to play 3rd party games (pretty much anywhere else will be better). It comes down to how badly you want to play the exclusives. There is nothing about the switch 2 that makes me think I need one at launch. Maybe year 2 or 3 I will see a lineup of games that makes me want to jump in but I think I'm going to wait and see.

I was really into the switch 1 in it's first few years but my nostalgia is satiated for the time being and don't really feel the need to play anything nintendo has to offer, especially at these prices. For now, it's a pass for me too.

Re: Switch 2 Feature Reminds People Of The Disastrous Xbox One Launch

@Tasuki i don't think the wii u sold poorly because people got confused. I think they just had the impossible task of convincing the most casual players ever to buy another system that was just a slightly better version of the same thing. They did the impossible task of getting non gamers like people in old folks homes to buy a videogame console but there was 0% chance of people like that buying the followup no matter what they did.

The switch will have a similar issue but to a lesser extent. A ton of these ultra casuals are just not going to be interested because buying the first one was such an out of character purchase to begin with.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Expecting Xbox News At The Switch 2 Direct This Week?

BacklogBrad

Depends what we consider xbox news. An xbox port or two to the switch 2 isn't really my definition of xbox news but I'm sure we will see plenty of articles about it from xbox sites. There will probably be a few 3rd party titles that warrant a "this is also on xbox" update but nothing major.

I'm sure the early years of the switch 2 will be catching up on 3rd party titles that couldn't run on the og. Similar to how borderlands and bioshock got significant time at a direct when they got ported even though they were like 10 years old. This direct will probably have a lot of those type of annoucements (RE4 remake, etc)

Re: Lots Of Activision Blizzard Games Aren't On Xbox Game Pass Yet, But Why?

It probably isn't a good strategy to just drop everything in at once even if it was possible. Dropping that many big games would eat into anything else releasing around it. A slow drip is better (they seem to be at or around 1 game per month).

They probably learned a lot from the data after the bethesda drop. I imagine there were plenty of games in that drop that attracted very few players because people went straight to the big ones. They would have gotten more out each game if they spaced out the releases.

The classic COD games in game pass presents its own problem too unless it is a single collection and/or rolled into the current Duty app. They don't want the current COD community to break up into like a dozen different games. It would be a mess as a consumer too to keep track of which ones your squad wants to play or which ones have the most players. Downloading all my favorite cod games and managing those installs sounds like a nightmare.

Re: Talking Point: Could Sony 'Block' PlayStation Games On An Xbox Handheld?

Steam is heavily rumored to be making a "console" version of the steam deck. Im betting that triggers another new market race like the handheld pc. I wonder what Sony and the people who claim that pc is "different" from the console world would think of that scenario where dozens of consoles can purchase and play playstation "console exclusives".

Re: Helldivers 2 Xbox Petition Passes 130,000 Signatures, But Don't Get Your Hopes Up

@dskatter i wouldn't say "clearly" sony isn't considering anything but lego horizon to test the waters. We know they had internal discussions about heckdivers 2 on xbox. We have been watching them ramp up the pc ports.

I'm betting it is Sony executives that eventually demand Playstation executives do the full multiplatform with at least one future game. It doesn't make sense for them to keep openly complaining in investor meetings that profit margins on $200+ million budget games isn't as high as they want and then keep selling those games to a fraction of the gaming industry.

Re: Pick One: If Xbox Acquired One Ubisoft IP, Which Should It Be?

@Kaloudz yes ubisoft does own his name for all future video games.

2008 article
French video game giant Ubisoft said Thursday that it has agreed to buy all "intellectual property rights to the Tom Clancy name, on a perpetual basis and free of all related future royalty payments, for use in video games and ancillary products including related books, movies and merchandising products
