There have been ongoing rumours about the Halo: Master Chief Collection making the jump across to certain other platforms, but now new information suggests it might not necessarily play out like expected.

Speaking to 'The Xbox Two' podcast about the upcoming Switch 2 launch, The Verge's senior editor Tom Warren mentioned how he doesn't know if a collection will happen or if "every game" will necessarily be included:

I don't know if it's going to be 'collection', in the sense - I wouldn't think of it as every game, put it that way... [that's] probably the most I can say on it.

Although he apparently can't say anything more right now, he did acknowledge one of the host's comments about a possible remake of the original title Halo: Combat Evolved - linking back to his own story about a possible remaster.

Warren also speculated that cross-platform work on Halo may have become "more limited" since the rebrand of Halo Studios last year and its shift across to Unreal Engine 5 for future titles. Additionally, he believes Project Foundry (the UE5 Halo tech demo) is the "exact" sort of project a studio would want to do if it was going to "remake an older game".

If we hear any updates, we'll let you know.
