Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 20-21)

Stuck at home with bloody COVID, so....

1. PC: Started playing through the all Splinter Cell games for the first time; completed Nobody Wants To Die (can really recommend this to those who love Noir and games like LA Noire)

2. Xbox: Kunitsu Gami - Holy ***** what a beautiful and strangely chill game. Love seeing Capcom so weird stuff like this.

I'm giving it an A not because the games were fantastic but because of the messaging behind the show.

Geoff has been rightly criticised in the past for not acknowledging the layoffs in the industry/studio shutdowns but here the first thing he did was acknowledge that. He took it a step further to then highlight the indie scene and how vibrant it is right now and is essentially the creative backbone of gaming today. So kudos for that.

Also with the backdrop of the rumours of the cost of advertising your game on SGF, kudos for the amount of time that was given to all the different indie games to show their stuff. I don't imagine games created by a single dev coughed up 250000$ to put their indie project trailer on here.

In an age where we easily criticise and cancel people for not doing what we want, I think it's only fair to give people a chance to correct their errors and Geoff has done that here. So A for me

@Ver yeah yeah mate. Now I'm asserting. What you wanna call it next? Truth? Gospel? Go on...

Maybe get your head out of Microsoft's ass first and then, maybe do some actual reading about the topic from industry analysts and insiders who seem to also DEDUCE the same. That that studio closure was financially motivated and not "organisational restructuring" as your "bets" suggest.

Ridiculous...

@Banjo- well, if the Tango situation has thought us anything, these execs are also prone to lying i.e. Aaron Greenberg. Either way, I think there's a third option which is don't believe anyone and just wait till things get released and put out.

Personally I jumped on the Xbox bandwagon 2 years ago for the first time cause I thought they were a lot more consumer friendly but since being on the platform, the messaging from Xbox themselves has been wildly inconsistent that its hard to want to remain on the platform.

Re: Analyst Claims PS5 Outsold Xbox Series X|S Almost 5:1 Last Quarter

I picked up an Xbox Series X which was my first Xbox in 2022 cause of how annoyed I was with Sony (I own a PS5 as well) and I felt Xbox offered a more customer-centric experience. But goodness me, the way Xbox have managed their business tells me that I won't be getting another one.

I still primarily play on my Xbox cause of Game Pass but I don't think the Xbox brand has long to live.

TBF both PlayStation and Xbox doesn't fill me with any confidence moving forward and I would rather invest in PC (in terms of platform stability) but I do love a console experience where I can sit on the couch and play on my big screen.
