You want the good news or the bad news? The good news is that Starfield Shattered Space is now available across Xbox Series X|S and PC, but the bad news is that it's suffering from a pretty turbulent launch so far.
We're seeing all kinds of issues cropping up for Shattered Space players right now, with the biggest one being something called a "Lookup Failed" error. When they try to start the Shattered Space DLC, they're presented with a planet that has no texture to it, and the writing alongside it says "Lookup Failed". Here's an example:
So, what's the answer? Well, there are a few fixes players have suggested, such as restarting your console (or PC) completely to force any additional updates for Starfield and/or the Shattered Space DLC, as well as turning off any mods that might be installed to your game. Unfortunately though, these don't seem to work for everyone.
There's also the problem that not everyone is running into this "Lookup Failed" issue in the first place - some are simply finding that when they go to start the Shattered Space DLC, nothing happens. Again, we haven't come across a guaranteed fix for this right now, but restarting your system is your best bet in the first instance.
Hopefully this won't last long, but yeah... you're not alone if you're getting any of these problems so far!
How are you getting on with Starfield Shattered Space at the moment? Got it to work? Tell us below.

That screenshot is amazing!
After Bethesda fixes this, they need to create an official "Lookup Failed" planet that is programmed to fail in random ways (but not crash the game).
Would be a nice way to own up to and having fun with having such shaky Quality Control.
And that's why no reviews are online. Bethesda knew it. 🥲
Jeez. Bethesda can’t catch a break lately. Always something. Confusing how something like this could make it out the door
I've just loaded it up and have this. LMAO. Bugthesda strikes again.
EDIT: a restart seems to have fixed it.
@Lup To be fair most DLCs don't get early access and early reviews.
Bethesda, Bethesda never changes 🙄
Just started the 18.44GB download.
Which for some reason seems to phase in and out , with downloading speed.
In all fairness, I've seen this twice on the base game while playing on the ROG Ally X a few weeks ago. A quick restart fixed it. I have to say, I was pretty amused when I saw it.
This planet texture issue happens every time for me when they push an update on PC. If you're playing on PC Game Pass as I am, what always worked for me was just repairing the file via the Xbox app. Not sure if theres an option on consoles though.
downloads finished. all working fine for me, so it's not impacting everybody
Getting the lookup failed error. I really can't be arsed to mess around when I have other games I can play that actually work.
A dumpster fire made by a bunch of clowns. Jokes on Microsoft for buying these idiots
Well, thank goodness they trusted this DLC enough to give it to reviewers early, eh?
Oh wait…
Well.... Nobody like to test and debug , nowadays ..
Let's hope that - at least - AI can't do something regarding this ... debugging phase....
They really should of made sure this released finished I'm not bothered with this game anymore over save killing bugs at launch after near 100 hours of gameplay Bethesda the biggest let downs ever honestly take 15 years to make a buggy mess🤬🥺ðŸ˜
This is next level stuff. I’m used to falling through the map, getting stuck in the stairs, inexplicably dying for no reason, random freezes, crashing to the dashboard, having my saves corrupted, collision detection issues, texture loading issues, broken dialogue sequences, laughably bad NPC pathfinding, and many other game breaking bugs far too numerous to list here—but I didn’t think I’d live long enough to see a Bethesda title glitch before you even get into the game
Yeah. I can't even start it. A bit strange the update and Shattered Space was two separate downloads. I also had to go into the store to download Shattered space because it didnt star automatically. Trying a reboot now... wish me luck!
Update. A reboot did the trick.
No problems here, but I always reboot my console after installing a new game or downloading an big update.
No problems for me, obviously I quit out of quick resume like you are supposed to when updating. I really enjoyed the base game and looking forward to this. DLCs don't often get reviews day one but I expect this will review fairly well like that base game.
I saw that screenshot and immediately thought of the Game Awards last year with Todd Howard in the audience, looking expectant of receiving an award…
It doesn't even work 🙄 tried taking all my mods off , tried with them on , deleted them , the game is just stuck in a constant loading loop, oh bethesda you little scamps.
I thought Todd looked he didn't want to be there at last years Award show, @Xbox_Dashboard. He, like everyone else, knew that Baldur's Gate 3 was going to hoover up all of the GotY Awards, and he was only there because he was contractually obliged to be so. Starfield wasn't a bad game, and in any other year it may have stood a chance of winning, based on scope as much as anything, but not last year. 2023 was the year of the Gate, an absolute juggernaut of a game, and everyone knew they were there just to make up the numbers...
