It's still very early days for August's Xbox Game Pass additions, but as we always do around this time of the month, we're taking a look at what's ahead - and there's some good stuff planned for September 2024 on Game Pass already!
In fact, there are two Xbox first-party titles arriving in September in the form of Age of Mythology: Retold and Ara: History Untold, although the latter remains PC only for now. Frostpunk 2 is also PC only, but it'll arrive on Xbox at some point.
Obviously we're expecting many more Xbox Game Pass announcements for September 2024 (and August for that matter) in the weeks ahead, but for now, here's more information on those four confirmed Game Pass titles for next month:
Star Trucker (September 3)
Hop into the driver's seat of your rocket-powered big rig as you haul cargo, scavenge for salvage and interact with an eclectic cast of star-hopping truckers in this Americana-infused journey on the ultimate open road - space!
Age of Mythology: Retold (September 4)

Frostpunk 2 for PC (September 20)
Develop, expand, and advance your city in a society survival game set 30 years after an apocalyptic blizzard ravaged Earth. In Frostpunk 2, you face not only the perils of never-ending winter, but also struggle with managing factions inside the Council Hall that watch your every step.
Ara: History Untold for PC (September 24)
Build a nation and lead your people throughout history to the pinnacles of human achievement as you explore new lands, develop arts and culture, conduct diplomacy, and go head-to-head with your rivals to prove you are the greatest ruler ever known. It's Your World Now.

AoM and Ara releasing with a few weeks of each other is a bit unfortunate, you'd think they would try to space them out
I'm looking forward to Age of Mythology and the fact ARA is for PC only initially makes it better for me as I'm Series X only ☺️

I’d try out ara and frostpunk 2 if they weren’t pc only.
Been a great year so not much to complain about. People saying “sucks like usual” must not like games much… 2024 has had more than anyone can keep up with unless their tastes are myopic.
Star trucker sure does look like cowboy bebop.
Although I read it initially as "star truker", which would be a whole different game along the rupaul lines!
Age of Mythology looks very good and Ara looks intriguing. Good month.

@jesse_dylan Just curious which games were solid for you on GP this year, as I felt like this was a real down year for me. Typically GP upticks toward end of year for me, but this year in particular has felt quite barren. Curious to see if I missed something of interest.
If I was still a PC gamer and had time for strategy games, this would be a great month, honestly. Definitely the best looking month on GP since 2022 with Ara and Frostpunk. If they were on console, I would’ve potentially considered resubbing if I found a discount code. Really looking forward to reading the Ara reviews.

Another month of me paying for blah games I won't play. GP is lacking but as long as the fanboys hype them up they'll never have to drop good games
@Decimateh The remakes are great, I’ll give you that, but I dunno. At this point, I sort of feel like most people that want them would’ve bought them at this point and they’ve both already been in some ludicrously cheap sales by now to the point where they could’ve been purchased under the price of a monthly sub. But I’m totally glad if more people played the games if they’re in the GP as a method of collecting games club.
For my personal thoughts, I think Hauntii was the only winner I found on GP this year for me when I was subbed.
@somnambulance ye haintii is good too also had Callisto protocol too that's decent. N ye it's been a good year this year I'd say but not for me as I already bought the resi remasters and Callisto 🤣😭
@90sGamer I’m not a fanboy. But you’re telling me there’s nothing on the whole you want to play? Nothing from August or July? Previous months? I’m not saying you have to play strategy. I won’t be playing anything this month either since I’m on console (I might try the trucker game), but there are still tons of games from previous months I want to play. Play the long game, not the monthly game.
@90sGamer fanboys have nothing to do with it. Money talks. If you’re paying for games you don’t want to play. You’re doing the same as the fanboys, paying.

Game pass has kept me busy with RPGs this year! I think about all I had time for was persona 3, Eiyuden chronicle, and Octopath traveler 2. But there were always so many more I wanted to try and didn’t have time for. I’m finally playing case of the golden idol now. Boltgun was a lot of fun too.
Recently, I’d like to play still wakes the deep, tchia, magical delicacy, neon white, dungeons of hinterberg… and that’s just recent stuff.
And there’s still stuff from previous years I haven’t touched and want to play. Bloodstained… that other dating dungeon game… like I can’t even remember everything I still want to play.
Of course, sometimes I play stuff and don’t love it. But if that’s the case I try to move on quickly. Too many games to waste time on something I don’t love.
I've been waiting for Ara for quite some time, so this month is FIRE.
Really want to try Star Trucker, from the gameplay and trailers it looks interesting. Always up for more strategy games so hopefully they are not just PC only.
Yeah, I'm intrigued by Star Truckers... definitely be giving that one a try.
any word on when will frostpunk2 also come to xbox? I enjoyed the first one quite a lot and I was looking forward for the second one...
