Can you imagine having spent $50 to watch that live?
Did Xbox just hold everything back for Sunday? Looks like it.
Pretty weak. Glad Sunday is only 2 days away.
C, was a good production overall, the expected ads weren't too obtrusive for the most part which is a plus. Really only 1 game I'd consider buying but I can appreciate the variety
D. It was poor, there were a couple of sparkles on the turd.
Shame Xbox showed nothing at all, considering it’s a bigger/different audience
Opened with a Playstation (and Switch) game. Closed with a Playstation game. Standard Keighley.
I thought it wasn’t great. Power Rangers saved it! Go go Power Rangers!
Hope Xbox have an amazing show for us Sunday.
I need something to make the gaming market shine for me.
I only watched a little, but it felt like I was being beaten with a bag of oranges. Just awful.
D, it wasn’t awful but a few certain games saved the show from being an F. It’s in Xbox’s court now to blow us all away on Sunday.
Now we know that each trailer costed $250K for one minute, we need to add up each trailer’s duration, its cost and judge its quality on whether it was a total waste or not.
@K1LLEGAL
Being honest if xbox wanted to pay the money they could have started and ended the show.
As simple as that.
@K1LLEGAL I suspect it's more to do with Xbox keeping their stuff for Sunday, rather than Geoff favouring PS over Xbox.
What an absolute load of nothing that was 😒
@LoquaciousB oh yea i’m sure Xbox wants their games at their own event. Just typical of a Keighley showcase, that’s all.
@OldGamer999 very true. Though I assume Playstation get mates rates.
It was rough. It’s starting to solidify what I’ll be playing the rest of the year though. Surely, Xbox and Nintendo MUST have better showcases! Right!? …right?
@somnambulance Right, by the end of Sunday your faith will have been restored! Everytime I watch one of Geoff’s shows it leaves me thinking that Xbox wants no part of this event…
I gave it a C based on what was shown. Nothing really knocked my socks off. Same with the Sony one. I really hope Xbox floors us. I would love for Nintendo to do that too, but I feel like they're on their victory lap and they'll be heavy emphasis on remakes/remasters.
From an Xbox perspective, it was somewhat lacking, as expected really and Sony isn't doing anything themselves during this week.
Overall I thought mediocre at best after a 'decent' start.
With MS having their own Show and no doubt 3rd party 'partners' too, and Ubisoft as well to come, I just hope this was all that was 'left' as all the 'exciting' games that we'll all be talking about are still to come...
I was fine. Made look into other type of games.
Wait, Summer Game Fest has already happened?
Kinda thought it wasn't gonna be until in a couple weeks.
@K1LLEGAL gave me alien storm from mega drive days vibes. Looks great
There was one big smart move in this show Sony.
Lego Horizons on Switch and Xbox should follow suit with a game similar out of there big name games.
See young switch owners when they get older move onto the big consoles, especially when they start older school.
Now Sony has a major AAA even though it’s Lego and connection to PlayStation on Switch.
That connection creates a future PS5 console sale when that young Switch owner wants a more grown up big flash console.
It’s so dam smart that move with Lego Horizon on Switch.
Total garbage. For me, looking to XBox for third party (PS and Switch gamer), Ubisoft, and Nintendo. Hopefully not a total disappointment.
We traded E3 for THIS?
Surprised they didn't announce Lego Hellblade
It was fine. Some cool stuff in there for sure, but not much that really wowed me. Some of my favourite stuff included Alan Wake 2 DLC and physical release (I knew it lol), Unknown 9: Awakening (was hoping to get a closer look at this since I forgot all about it, well there was my look at it), and the closer looks at the new Fatal Fury and Kingdom Come Deliverance 2.
@AlwaysPlaying I really hope so. I know that Alan Wake 2 DLC won’t last long. It certainly feels like Erdtree better be darn good because it needs to last me til September (for Astro Bot) with the current release slate and not much after! At this point, I’m really hoping for Xbox to shadow drop something interesting… it’s just so weird that State of Play, Summer Games Fest, Day of the Devs, and the Devolver Direct seemed so hollow.
Ahhhh, I gave it a C. It was ok. Not great and not terrible. Now on with the Xbox showcase. I am expecting a great showing from MS this year.
I just got a PC. I have a series X, S, Pc and a surface 2 pro. Love the gaming experience between them all.
I love all types of games and there was a great variety shown during the event.
I gave it an A easily. I was interested in 90% of the games or knew people who were. The next year is insane. Between AAA and independents,
I feel like small teams have the advantage like horror margins in the film industry. Interesting to see the decline of MMOs and huge player base servers.
Happy half X-mas on Sunday Funday.
Lego Horizon, Alan Wake 2 DLC, Unknown 9, SF6 s2 for me.
E. I had to tap out early I was tired and it was boring me to death. I didn’t see anything amazing, only game that caught my eye was that man & deer game or whatever it was called.
C
Other than Civilization VII, I found it rather underwhelming considering the hype that went before it.
Nice that there's a new Davey Wreden game coming. That's... pretty much it.
I just can't stand Jeff unfortunately he's a big part of these shows but I like games so I watch ....and fell asleep during it , a couple of things I liked but overall it was boring , nothing screamed buy me now !!!!
I enjoyed the show, though it was light on AAA bangers.
I liked that smaller devs had an opportunity to show their stuff.
I loved what the team behind 'Amoung Us' are doing to help promote other upcoming devs, shows there are people who still care about something other than money.
It was a little light on xbox stuff, but we are expecting a banger on Sunday, so that can be forgiven.
I enjoy lego games and I love horizon, so im up for the tie in, which is clever cross marketting.
I've been waiting for Black Wukong for ages, so to see a release date (day before my birthday, yey) was great news for me.
Im hoping the Alan Wake 2 dlc helps Remedy make some profit from that title, they deserve that incentive.
Much as I thought it was ok, I am hoping that the xbox show will have more impact. I think xbox have taken some self inflicted hits lately and Id like to see them rebalance this with a fatastic show.
Fingers crossed for Sunday!
I'm giving it an A not because the games were fantastic but because of the messaging behind the show.
Geoff has been rightly criticised in the past for not acknowledging the layoffs in the industry/studio shutdowns but here the first thing he did was acknowledge that. He took it a step further to then highlight the indie scene and how vibrant it is right now and is essentially the creative backbone of gaming today. So kudos for that.
Also with the backdrop of the rumours of the cost of advertising your game on SGF, kudos for the amount of time that was given to all the different indie games to show their stuff. I don't imagine games created by a single dev coughed up 250000$ to put their indie project trailer on here.
In an age where we easily criticise and cancel people for not doing what we want, I think it's only fair to give people a chance to correct their errors and Geoff has done that here. So A for me
When did game trailers get so BORING. I remember watching the forza horizon 3 reveal trailer multiple times, and I don't really play racing games. Monsters hunter wilds was the best one in the show for me.
I voted A just for Alan wake 2 night springs dlc out TODAY!🤯 I wasn't expecting anything out of this so I'm chuffed I'll be in night springs tonight!
I get what you are saying about Xbox not showing anything, @PsBoxSwitchOwner, but they either had to show nothing, or something that would steal the show. If they went in half-arsed, they would have been lambasted to high hell from all quarters. Showing nothing, meant that at least people aren't taking shots at Xbox quite so much, whereas showing something weak would have resulted in negativity-bullets flying everywhere.
Also, it needs to be remembered that the only reason Sony had one or two games at the show is because they do not have a show of their own, whereas, of course, Xbox does.
So, I'm okay with them not showing anything, because the banger they would have to have shown last night, will instead be at their own show, and will likely make that show one to remember and gloat about...
It was a fantastic presentation especially compared to the lackluster Sony's State of Play that have been for years already.
I found the show to be highly enjoyable, a significant improvement over last year's VGA. It progressed swiftly and valued the viewer's time. There were some impressive games showcased, such as Cuffbust, Once Human, Cairn, Metaphor, the new Lego game, and Warhammer Space Marine 2, all of which looked fantastic. However, the highlight for me was Nightdive Studios' remaster of The Thing. I can't think of a more suitable studio to bring a horror classic to contemporary platforms.
C+. There are 6-7 games I want to play from it so I’m happy. The show was a little long so that drags it down a bit for me.
C- but Civ 7 is now my most anticipated game of all platforms/publishers. I cannot wait for this.
C.....Phantom Blade Zero & Black Myth: Wukong was great but anything else didn't interest me.
@Mustoe
I know but they should have Avowed and Indy gameplay and 2024 release dates at bare minimum.
Then god knows what else maybe for 2024.
Then we should see some 2025 stuff I hope maybe Gears 6, Fable.
These studios have had years and years on these games and they are big studios.
This goes for both Xbox and Sony Studios.
HZD To HFW took 5 years with some dlc released in between and they were both massive AAA games and very very graphical and open world.
Not sure what is happening nowadays but it seems to take longer and longer and the quality is less and size smaller and level of details and inhabitants not as good.
Take gears 5 which is five years old October 2024.
A much smaller game not open world no where the size and scope graphics wise and inhabitants wise.
So where’s my gears 6, five years later.
It’s gone slow mode at Xbox and Sony studios of late.
Well Geoff Keighley is the host so that's an F from me.
It was alright, like last year, a bit better than expected, but also not groundbreaking.
Some nice announcements and footage.
