Well, it's official! The next CoD game is titled Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, with the game being teased this week through a cryptic website and various short video clips to hype up the announcement.
For now, we don't have an official release date for Black Ops 6, but you can bet your bottom dollar that it's coming out sometime this fall. In fact, we should know for sure in just over two weeks' time, when Microsoft fully unveils the game during its Xbox Direct showcase.
As for what we do know - the game's development setup looks interesting. Long-time Black Ops dev Treyarch will be the lead developer, but it's already been confirmed that the much-revered Raven Software will be partnering with them on the project. This sounds like a similar setup to Black Ops Cold War, where Raven handled the campaign portion of the game - but we don't know the exact arrangement on Black Ops 6 just yet.
The biggest question that now remains for us is whether the title will launch day one on Xbox Game Pass. The Wall Street Journal recently reported that Call of Duty 2024 will be on the service day one, so here's hoping we find out for sure on that front in the coming weeks.
