We've known for a while that the racing experts over at Codemasters are taking over the WRC franchise this year, which will be under EA's new 'EA Sports Rally' brand following the company's acquisition of the British developer. The team still hasn't formally announced its first officially licensed WRC game though, but a new leak gives us a proper title and a new release date.
According to well-known & often accurate leaker billbil-kun, EA and Codemasters will launch 'WRC 23' on July 28th, 2023. This latest rallying entry is set to mark the series' first move to current-gen-only - with a planned launch for Xbox Series X|S, PS5 and PC.
The series came on strides in recent years under its previous developer KT Racing; a team that's now hard at work on a brand new Test Drive Unlimited title. Of course, Codemasters has lots of rally pedigree itself, having developed the Dirt series for over a decade at this point.
We shouldn't be too far off an official announcement for WRC 23, then, given its reported release date of July 28th. There are a certain few showcases it could crop up at this summer, that's for sure!
