By the time this weekend is done we'll be into a brand spanking new year - one hopefully filled with plenty of Xbox Game Studios goodness! In the meantime though we've still had lots to be playing over the festive period, including a couple of Christmas pickups via the huge 'Countdown' sale currently ongoing on Xbox Live.
Here's what we're playing this weekend:

Well, after a good year and a half in the market for it I finally decided to pick up Resident Evil Village thanks to Capcom's recently released Gold Edition, which is currently discounted on Xbox. I absolutely loved Resident Evil 2 Remake, and Resident Evil 3 for that matter, and the team's addition of a third-person mode back in October finally pushed me to buy it. I've been loving it so far!
I also decided to spend a bit more Christmas money on another Countdown deal - Nickelodeon Kart Racers 3. The series' developer finally added voice acting to proceedings with the third game, and it injects some much needed personality to this unashamed Mario Kart rip-off. As it turns out, the on-track racing is actually really good fun, and this one is definitely worth picking up at 60% off if you're in the market for a kart racer on Xbox!
Have a great New Years weekend!

I'm taking a few days off from Pure Xbox at the moment after a busy year, so I'm definitely going to be playing some games this weekend! I'm a bit hooked on FIFA 23 after taking advantage of the recent in-game promotion for 70% off, so that's probably going to be dominating my time over the next few days.
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is getting some playtime at the moment as well, with the hope of finishing it before the sequel arrives in a few months, and I've been in the mood to return to Disney Dreamlight Valley lately, so perhaps that'll be in the rotation this weekend too. Have a good New Year, folks!

Making the most of Cloud Gaming at my family's away from my console and finishing off the Skywalker Saga.
Started Elden Ring brought on disc glad I did as not for me I will be swiftly selling on. It seems okay but not enjoying the combat still very difficult without any accessibility options. Admittedly I'm also missing the map markers as I prefer to know what I'm doing. Has no real story to follow so gets boring.
In my opinion an overrated game but I was never into souls games and this has confirmed to avoid anything by FromSoftware. Only tried due to it winning game of the year.
Nothing else to play so will wait until Persona 3/4 and Monster Hunter: Rise. Hopefully something else takes my fancy before.
Been spending more time with Chained Echoes. Such a fantastic game and the best traditional JRPG I’ve played in years. So deserving of all the praise it’s been getting.
If you have GamePass and love the genre, don’t miss it!
Been really enjoying Gotham Knights, so I'll be putting some more time into that, and back into The Witcher 3
@EliJapan “ you were paid to say you enjoy it, I understand but it gives me the shivers as to how ghost town and creepy it is .”
A bit harsh don’t you think? People can enjoy stuff you don’t with them being paid to say they do. Assume positive intent!
As for your criticism of the game that sounds horrific! I can completely understand why you don’t like it.
If anything Sea of Thieves. Now family has gone back home after Christmas my wife & I can start playing again. Still working on Pirate Lord.
Other than that maybe some Jackbox/phone games with friends.
I got Sonic Frontiers and Crisis Core Reunion on PS5 for Christmas so will mainly be playing those this weekend. Already put 13 hours into sonic frontiers and I'm having a blast so far, so much to explore and do.
On switch I will continue with Bayonetta 3, I have mixed feeling about the story of this one but its the gameplay keeping me invested.
And if I get time I will play some more High on life or Somerville on my series S.
Disney Dreamlight Valley, Control, and King of Fighters 15. Happy New Year!
I finally beat Chained Echoes (Xbox Series X), and I consider the game to be an absolute masterpiece. It’s one of the best JRPGs I’ve played in a very long time. I have a feeling this will be a game I play annually, probably around the Christmas time.
What I find so fascinating about the game is how there are many characters in the game and many join your party; however, they all have fleshed out backstories and motivations. Hell, even a particular merchant that is an NPC - if you talk to him every new place you visit, you’ll discover his history. Furthermore, their storylines get concluded as well. The fact that one individual made this game blows my mind. I can see why it took seven years to develop. The creator, Matthias Linda, really took his time with the writing and it shows in spades. I can’t wait to see what he does next.
I’m not sure what I want to start next. I have a plethora of games to choose from: Prodeus, Crisis Core Final Fantasy 7 Reunion (say that five times fast), Signalis, and Marvel Midnight Suns. The latter is tempting and calling my name, but we will see. I don’t want to start a super lengthy game because I want my focus to be on the Dead Space remake when it releases.
Im playing Final Fantasy Reunion and Elden ring on Ps5. Im using cowboy walkthrough to get a good start on Elden Ring. On game pass I finished Pentiment so Im playing Signalis and Prodeus
Tekken 6, Yakuza 0 and For the King.
Hi there fellow gamers;
This weekend I´ll be continuing my Platinum playtrough of Jedi Fallen Order and some matches of DnF Duel as well as Guilty Gear Strive on my PS5 and continue playing The Fantastic Outer Worlds as well as the looker that is Forza Horizon 5 on my Series X.
May next year prove to be an amazing year for videogames.
Cheers, stay safe, stay warm and Happy New Gaming Year for us all
I've made the most of my holidays by finishing Infamous First Light, Heavy Rain and Spider-Man Miles Morales on the Playstation.
Currently very close to finishing little big planet 3 on Playstation. After that I'll be playing Bioshock Remastered and Ghost of Tsushima on Playstation. While on the cloud I'll be playing Vampire Survivors, I want to see if its as good as everyone says it is.
As much as I really want to play High on Life, I just can’t tear myself away from the impossibly addictive Vampire Survivors. I need help!
@EliJapan either my point came across wrong or you’re reading my comment incorrectly. I meant horrific in a complimentary way. Not that there was anything wrong with your opinion. The way you described it was like a nightmare which I completely support.
I’ve not played the grand but I have watched previews and what you’re describing aligns with my own thoughts.
It's all A Plague Tale for me! Very joyful, festive fun!
Just completed The Ascent and might go for the dlc, I found the base game really good. Truly underrated game imo. Have a good end of the year all!
The Witcher 3, only my 2nd playthrough... slowly making progress.
Also Flight Simulator.
@EliJapan gotcha. I guess that’s fair. Have a happy new year!
Xbox Series X - Sonic Frontiers, Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate, Sword of the Vagrant
Switch - NieR:Automata The End of YoRHa Edition, Bayonetta 3
PS5 - God of War: Ragnarok, Gotham Knights, Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion, Ridge Racer 2
I got my new PC assembled on Thursday and up and running last night (typing this on it now 😊) so I'm picking up my playthrough of A Plague Tale: Requiem where I left off. Played a bit last night too at a super smooth 4k/60fps on pretty much the highest settings and it was glorious. Can't wait to go through the second half of the game now and seeing everything it has to offer.
Sports story and astronite on switch. I was playing RE2 on xbox, but the tension is crazy high and it stresses me out lol. I sort of shelved it for halo infinite campaign, but now I'm regretting it and might go back to RE2 🤣
@everynowandben
Welcome to the club! I got my PC in late October and @SplooshDmg had something to do with it haha.
Right now I'm playing Kena: Bridge of Spirits and loving it! Also thinking about going back to Death Stranding after I got tired of it midway through the 6th chapter.
I'm also waiting for my Steam Deck to arrive next week!
Happy New Year everyone!
LEGO Star Wars: The Video Game (PS2) - Finally starting on Episode III. Progress has been slow due to limited access to the tv nowadays. This is why I prefer to game on laptop/handhelds
Rayman Jungle Run (Windows Phone) - Made it to the final stretch here as well.
Age of Sparta (Windows Phone) - Haven't played for a few days now, need to get back to this.
I'm gonna be starting up Resident Evil 2 remake, Just bought it on the countdown sale..
Star Ocean Divine Force for me, plus some Sonic Frontiers and that got me to pick up Sonic Origins on the sale which got me to want to finish Unleashed for once. But Cowabunga Collection may intervene. Oh and toying with No More Heroes 3.
I intended to finally play P5R but then Star Ocean happened...
I picked up Nickelodeon Racer 3 and its actually really fun!
Mostly been playing Castlevania Aria of Sorrow from the Advance Collection.
Dipping also a bit into A Plague Tale Requiem, trying to force myself into finishing it. There is just something about the fluid movement of many modern third person stealthy games that I really can’t get behind, looks amazing but I like my characters to actually snap into walls when under cover (like they do in Persona 5) instead of just placing their hand gently and having a high chance of still being seen by foes.
Finished Jedi Fallen Order on the last day of the year and will continue to complete it as well.
This weekend has been Lego Star Wars for me mostly, but reading your comments, I’ll try Chained Echoes too.
Playing "High on Life" non-stop lately, both on my PC and Xbox
