We didn't think we were getting any new Xbox Game Pass titles today, but Microsoft has treated us to a couple of surprises, including a day one release! Plus, we've also got the free 10-hour trial for EA Sports PGA Tour.
The first of the two games today is Loop Hero, which is launching on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S for the first time following its release for PC and Nintendo Switch back in 2021. The game is highly rated on Metacritic with an average of 84 for Nintendo Switch and 82 for PC.
Here's what our sister site, Nintendo Life, had to say in their review of Loop Hero a couple of years ago:
"Loop Hero proves to be a fascinating and creative take on an RPG, distilling the genre down to its most important gameplay elements and throwing in some fresh ideas. Though some may be put off by the obviously repetitive nature of the core gameplay, Loop Hero is a consistently rewarding and engaging game that’ll easily get its hooks in you."
Meanwhile, the other game is Goat Simulator, which has returned to the library after being removed back on March 15th. We're assuming the licence has been renewed, hence it's reappearance.
Here's a closer look at the two new Xbox Game Pass arrivals today, plus the free PGA trial:
Loop Hero
"The Lich has thrown the world into a timeless loop and plunged its inhabitants into never ending chaos. Wield an expanding deck of mystical cards to place enemies, buildings, and terrain along each unique expedition loop for the brave hero.
Recover and equip powerful loot for each class of hero for their battles and expand the survivors' camp to reinforce each adventure through the loop. Unlock new classes, new cards, and devious guardians on your quest to shatter the endless cycle of despair."
Goat Simulator
"You no longer have to imagine what it is like to cause as much destruction as possible as a goat. Soon you’ll be able to pick up a controller and take on the world as a goat, racking up points as you destroy the world around you, using your insanely long tongue to drag people and objects to their demise.
You could always pool your money with friends and buy a real goat instead – they’re not that expensive – but you will be able to do a lot more with them on Xbox than you can in real life!"
EA Sports PGA Tour (10-Hour Trial)
"The exclusive home of the Majors, EA SPORTS™ PGA TOUR™ features Pure Strike for superior golf gameplay, powered by ShotLink®, and unrivaled access to the world’s most exclusive golf courses."

Love Gamepass - keep the games coming!
I’ll probably give Loop Hero tonight after finishing my Halo Infinite weeklies.
Loop Hero is excellent. Glad to have it on Xbox let alone GamePass!
@awp69 @ParsnipHero yeah this one caught my eye. Hadn't heard of it. I love deck builders, how does it implement the deck aspect of it? Can't really tell from the trailer.
Ah, took a look and remembered that Loop Hero had my attention when it was announced on Switch. Nice surprise for the first week if April.
Really excited for Loop Hero after being tempted by it on Switch. Awesome!
@AverageJoseph no clue. Have you tried Pirate Outlaws? It came out last week week. Feels like pirate Slay the Spire. A lot of content too!
@AverageJoseph my recollection is that you unlock new tiles and win them from battles, which can be played from your hand to create environment (fields, rocks) or loop locations (graveyards, forests) that each impact gamepkay in different ways (spawn enemies for you to fight). So, more tile placement than card combat. Very fun game, though it has been too long since I last played on Switch. I will throw it on my Xbox now. I love this surprise drop!
Loop Hero is one of those games I'm vaguely curious about, but not enough to actually buy. So it'll be nice to have a version I can try out on Game Pass.
@RentedPanda Sounds good. Yeah looking forward to trying later when I get some time, always enjoy the surprises from game pass
@ParsnipHero I'll check it out, I love slay the spire, monster train, even tainted grail was not too bad. Basically any new take on magic the gathering style mechanics
In terms of slay the spire type gameplay, Roguebook is really fun, too. Steamworld Quest is worth checking out as a story adventure, and Marvel's Midnight Suns is a fantastic game with card battle being a huge piece of the genre mashup
Goat simulator 3 is the real goat, passed way too much time messing around in couch co- op mindless stupid fun.
bruh, can any of these indy developers please make a metal of honor like game from the old days? use same graphics as a lone soldier with a few enemies here and there? but 60 fps though.
Downloaded Loop Hero last night... couldn't stop playing... Seriously! the game is super addictive.
