If you're a big Microsoft Rewards fan, you may have noticed a new promotion on the Xbox MS Rewards app recently called the "Great New Games Spotlight", which gives you 2500 free points for buying certain games on the Xbox Store.
Specifically, you need to spend £40 / $50 in order to get those 2500 free points, which doesn't sound like a great deal on the face of it, but there are some big, popular games in the list that have been selling like hotcakes recently. If you're going to buy them anyway, you may as well get some free Microsoft Rewards points for doing so!
You can find the list on the Microsoft Rewards Xbox app itself, but here are some highlights:
- Atomic Heart
- Blood Bowl 3
- Deliver Us Mars
- Destiny 2: Lightfall
- Forza Horizon 5 Premium Edition
- Hi-Fi RUSH
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Resident Evil 4 (Remake)
- Wanted: Dead
- Wild Hearts
- WWE 2K23
What we're saying here, then, is that if you're planning to buy any of these games like Hogwarts Legacy, Resident Evil 4 or WWE 2K23, we highly suggest activating the "Great New Games Spotlight" punch card on the Xbox Microsoft Rewards app first, which simply involves hitting the first button on the card to "explore the games collection".
Once you've racked up £40 / $50 worth of purchases (which in many cases might just be one game), you should automatically find that the free 2500 Microsoft Rewards points are deposited into your account. Simple as that!

I never did the Microsoft Rewards. I’m going to have to check out that program as I will be getting RE4.
@EvilSilentFrame I don't even own a modern Xbox console and I'm all over Microsoft Rewards. They're actually super generous with points if you combine web searches/quizzes + Game Pass quests.
It not free if you have to pay $40. Maybe word the differently. They have these type of things all the time. This article seems like click bait.
@Jonnybekeww I mean...I guess you're not wrong, but given that you also get points for spending money, it is kind of a "free" 2500 on top of what you earn for spending money.
Maybe they should use the word "Bonus" instead of free.
Definitely getting RE4 remake so any extra points helps!
@GamingFan4Lyf @Jonnybekeww I look at is as similar to cash back on a credit card.
@Jonnybekeww This is not free, but the 2000 and 500 cards they posted at the start of the month are!
@Ralizah I do have a modern xbox and I don’t know why. I don’t have a reason for never looking into Microsoft rewards before. I’m going to read up about them this weekend.
What a shocker, yet another digital only offer. I will be buying all those games on physical hard copy. But ms forgets proper gamers exist.
@EvilSilentFrame I have made hundreds (maybe like £300, if not more) in Xbox gift cards from reward points over the last few years; from not doing too much more than I would otherwise. You do get points for every digital purchase too. Definitely look into it!
I will get my 999 day badge in August this year hopefully. Just bought an Xbox wireless headset with points. Last purchase with points was Argos vouchers to buy a psvr. Have 3 years worth of ultimate. My son gets his robux every month and my dad gets Tesco vouchers at the end of the year for his Christmas shop. It's an amazing program.
Does this also apply for Hogwarts Legacy pre-orders? I got the Digital Deluxe version so I hope so.
