I put about 500 hours into Monster Hunter Rise on the Switch. I won't be restarting that game of course but for you fine folks who haven't tried it yet - I sincerely think it is one of a handful of games that will define this generation of consoles. The most accessible MH. To me it was the most fun.

Havne't played FS since the first game in the 1980s with my older cousin. I plan on picking it up again soon. One of the big reasons I chose the X over the 5.

How do they decide what leaves - lack of interest? time?

@Lostitall I dunno man - the bonds between MS and Atlus seem quite strong. I like buying the best, but not graphically intensive, games physically- which means the most buys on the Switch. Persona 5 no exception. I bought that one before I had the pass though ;_;

@Stoned_Patrol Yeah a lady jumping off of an owl and then panning the camera around. i.e. Nothing.

I may stream it from the cloud but I don't want to accidentally get an achievement and then have like 2% on some crummy Chinese mess. I'll wait to see how bad it is first. Maybe it will be good who knows?

@Kaloudz it looks like a cheap Chinese Final Fantasy. Like most (all) cheap China knock-offs I assume it plays infinitely worse. There is a reason they didn't show a second of gameplay.

Exoprimal alone makes July a good month.

I'm playing the heck out of World Tour in SF6. Nothing else really.

It is expensive - but it isn't insane. Good tvs cost as much.

Treating quotes of corporate executives when they do stupid podcasts like they are the bible is pretty dumb.

@Magabro yeah I'm really hesitant on this one. Copying is sincere flattery and all that but straight up copying a game is wack. This one gave me the same taste as that lame SE Splatoon clone but with bathbubbles.

@RetroMan71 Silvergun on the Saturn is/was CRAZY expensive because it's rare and so highly regarded. Last I checked it was way over $150. On the switch it's $15 I think. No brainer. if nothing else the switch is good for just having as a shmup machine.

edit: just checked it commonly goes for over $250.

This smells like they observed (or took part in) the fomo of the 3DS/Wii U store shutdown and liked the sales of those very much - so they are testing the waters here with things that no one would ever normally purchase ever. Clever marketing strategy. The 70 DLCs was the biggest waste of money then and now - but someone will claim "preservation" and buy all of it for sure for a youtube video of it.

@RetroMan71 Jeff Minter made it. Same dude who has been with Atari forever. No one has his retro style and crazy visuals. He made a 360 exclusive back in the day - Space Giraffe. Another incredible underrated game.

That's fine. This story is a lie. he is not playing the biggest release of the year - the one the whole company is relying on - at his house with kids and their friends and the gardener and the cook and and the housecleaner around. No executive would be that casual about it. No executive is going to play a video game for hours at home in the leadup.

I hope it isn't too like Infinite. Hot take: I was a huge fan of Bioshock. I hated Infinite. I realized about halfway through they just had you opening crates half the game to pad on time on a pretty boring game to me. The repeated faces of the NPCs all over the city really irked me. I didn't even bother finishing the game to find out if the repeated NPCs was purposely done.

Hades 2 is an instant buy. Game pass doesn't matter for that one - the first game was too good.

I hate everything about those. Car or console - I hate them.

@Tharsman I can agree that they'd be better off working under the MS flag than Kotick. I once worked for Microsoft. Consumers have a lot of issues with them and often - but they were a pretty damn good company to work for.

Kotick has likely always been moving towards a buyout - his entire career. He obviously wouldn't know what a controller looks like now care. He has been going for the big payday from Day one. Blizzard allowing themselves to be purchased by that group has been such a disaster.

@RetroMan71 no need to apologize friend! Some people truly don't know how awesome the switch is for shmups. Even shmup fans like you and I are continually amazed at the thing for how good it is.

sidenote: get AKKA ARRH if you haven't yet. It is like Missile Command + Space Giraffe and is one of the most underrated games of the past year.

@Scummbuddy you may be able to use a cotton ball and alcohol. I was a 20 something the last time i used a white controller - the 360 standard one. I was grimy and gross because I was 20 something and didn't know anything about proper cleaning. With age does come a little wisdom. And proper cleaning products.

I went to check this out yesterday but instead found the amazon xbox store selling their controllers for 40% off. So that took care of that decision. That and white controller end up being gross after a year or two. I'd rather mask the filth with color.

@Widey85 360 was all I played for about 5 years (except Nintendo handhelds which I have always played and always will) > PC first gamer > all Switch until now. I got this system solely because of Street Fighter - otherwise I would have been fine with the Switch until a new 3 came out.

I was literally about to pull the trigger on the PS5 until the god awful showcase they put out. I decided to wait and MS blew them away. Good for them seizing this one opportunity at least!

I have a suspicion I'm not the only one though. It was a bear finding a non bundled console and incredibly hard finding the disc of SF6. cheers!

@Widey85 I'm super cheery. I just bought my first xbox in 12 years just yesterday - really just because of the showcase. It sold the system over the playstation to me personally.

I just wouldn't send out messages acting like you've won anything - they haven't. that's me.

@RetroMan71 you being serious? The Switch is the greatest shmup console ever made. It isn't even close to debatable. They have almost every classic and are constantly putting out brand new ones. They have been releasing on the steady games that cost several hundred dollars.

If you enjoy shmups and don't have a Switch then you really don't like shmups.

That should have been an internal communication. It has nothing to do with us. There is no reason to celebrate before you've released anything and are in dead last place by a huge margin.

Taking Bethesda games away from other consoles will be a major definition of the argument that MS will also eventually take Activision away from the general marketplace after a while.

Personally I hope the deal falls through. Activision are scumbags and their games are forgettable. It costs far too much money that could be spent doing anything else.

@Tharsman now that Nintendo has had SMTV for so long I'd like to see it ported over to the other consoles. It is a great game and everyone who likes jrpgs/the series should be able to play it. And Atlus should have the opportunity to sell more copies of the game.

@BRT15 It sounds like most car games I've played over the years. Start with a junker > get better cars until you get the super cars then they start selling you more stuff. They will sell separate tuned version of the same cars that will wipe the deck with the standards online.

I played the Sea of Stars demo on the Switch - it was really fantastic.

@Banjo- not yet, picking it up in a few hours. First time on an xbox since 2010 I think. I'm looking forward to it.

Now I'm just crossing the 't's by trying to find the right headset, finding the best deal on yearly subs and finding out which games from my physical 360 collection I can play again! Nuts and Bolts is one Mr. Banjo!

I think I spent over 6 million dollars on Arcade back in the day too...it'll be a gas to find out what still works.

I bought an X last night and had a hell of a time finding a non-bundled unit. I have to drive 30 minutes to pick one up. Even harder to find was a physical of Street Fighter 6. I was really surprised.

I don't know if this means anything - just thought it interesting.

Getting this game regardless. It is very hard to find physically. This one has to be played on a Nintendo though.

I can lament there is an ignored group. One very important to me as they are in my family. One that used to be wooed during the 360 era.

I tried to get my 8 and 7 year old girls to watch the showcase with me. They left and colored instead; bored to tears after Fable was done. For them, the Switch is still and will remain king until a new generation it seems.

@BobCoffee I dont know for sure. I am buying my first series X later today (not now just in case Capcom drops some secret Sony exclusive). As soon as I saw this trailer I looked to see if the X supports KBM. I assume since it is cities it will. I hope.

@NEStalgia I loved FF13 for the combat and the endgame NM hunts. Since I became an adult a long time ago - I consider every character SE makes hyper-cringe. The Renaissance Venetian + sadomachism garb, the horrifying dialogue. All of it is terrible if you have taste. The music which people thing is amazing is derivative of every classic/cinema work ever made. Sweeping violins at a vista. Twinkily piano during the sad moments. Duh duh DUUUUHHHHH action music!!! It is juvenile at it's very best. Like listening to an ad designed to sell me pills.

I accept all of this. I know what I'm playing, what I am seeing and what I have heard now that I've matured. I can even enjoy it (mightily) - but high art it is not.

@NEStalgia I wasn't being glib - It teased me like that when I saw it.

When I saw the video yesterday it looked so cheap I thought it was a VR game.

The deal has a $3 billion breakup fee. I assume they are committed. They are overpaying by an enormous amount of money - but I get it.
