Re: PlayStation Plus Joins Xbox Game Pass In Raising Subscription Prices

Cashews

I hated Microsoft's price increase - right after they had a fantastic showcase. BUT - it is hard to argue that the value of pass has been getting better as time has gone on - the release cadence, of super solid games, going on right now is almost too hard to keep up with.

The timing on Sony is atrocious. They are offering no additional value, on an already inferior product, with a 25% price increase. I think after a lackluster Spiderman releases...and they really have nothing afterwards...people are going to question their loyalty to the brand. Sony's 2023 has been the worst year in gaming that I can think of in a decade or so.

Re: Lots Of Games Reduced By 90% In This Week's Xbox Super Saver Sale

Cashews

I always get a little upset when I see One Piece on sale and realize Namco won't pony up and pay for English dubs. With the live action dropping and the cartoon still wildly popular it seems like such a missed opportunity. I find the Japanese VA jarring and bad - but the English VA is some of the best around...pay these people to put their voices in the game Namco!

Also: Bayonetta + Vanquish bundle is super cheap. imho those are two of the best 360 games made. Two of the best games ever made for any system.

Re: Xbox Fan Sparks Huge Debate After Receiving First 'Strike' For Bad Language

Cashews

@Lightweight if that is true - why stick around? If MS sucks as bad as you claim, they aren't doing anything you cannot get better elsewhere.

The Xbox is always in last place. the market has been telling Xbox for two decades now that not only do they suck - they are the worst at what they do. If they want people to not have fun any more than they already do not have fun - oblige them.

Re: Sony Veteran Becomes Xbox's New Director Of Partnerships In Japan

Cashews

@BAMozzy Nintendo is not the only other option when hiring for fostering a relationship with Japan. Marketing firms, Capcom, your grandson - all of these are better options than hiring someone from Sony - who has all but completely destroyed Sony's playstation brand in their home country

You actually have to try, hard, to destroy a brand that is so entrenched in their society./ Not many companies could pull it off - look at the japanese software charts - Sony has.

She can have a chance sure. Right now she is starting off at "horrible hire". It is hard to go down from there but as Sony proved - it is possible.

Re: Soapbox: Go Buy The Best Console Version Of Far Cry 3 While It's Cheap On Xbox

Cashews

Far Cry 3 is one of the worst games I have ever played - because of the fact that FC 2 was one of the best and they ruined it with bad writing ,characters and gameplay. The series has never been the same since they listened to hack "writers" and changed the perfect FC2 formula.

Avoid. Play FC2 - an absolute classic. One of a tiny handful of video games ever made that has good writing. I am talking good like as good as a decent novel not typical game garbage.

@Cherip-the-Ripper by doing nothing you are giving Microsoft the ability to comb through your voice chats.

40 year old news hot off the presses! Microsoft is one of the most egregious abusers of consumer privacy the world has ever known. They shouldn't be trusted with anything.

In fact - https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-65817558

I'll be reporting MS as listening in on my children's comms once a week - every week until this goes away.

Re: Sony Veteran Becomes Xbox's New Director Of Partnerships In Japan

Horrible hire. Sony is the absolute WORST at keeping the relationship between their company and japan going smoothly. Sony has relinquished all goodwill directly in Nintendo's lap over the past 15 years. So this woman is partially responsible for that erosion. probably why she was looking for a job. You'd think MS would see this glaring fact.

Re: 200+ Digital-Only Games Set To Be Impacted By Xbox 360 Store Closure

Cashews

@DennisReynolds when Sony shut down it's store they also shut off upgrades and being able to download past purchases. Completely different deal imo.

Nintendo and MS is giving us a year notice - and they are allowing updates, patches, old purchases to be downloaded for the foreseeable future. We can't expect MS to port every crummy game over from their most popular system. I mean, I don't.

I owned a lot of these games and they were terrible.

Except REZ. MS not going hard after REZ, not bc'ing REZ annoys me greatly.

Re: Microsoft Unveils Custom Armored Core 6 Xbox Series X Console

Cashews

Here is something Ben Kerry, and everyone else, missed in the sweepstakes rules:

"(1) Grand Prize: One (1) custom-branded “Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon” Xbox Series X console bundle (NON-FUNCTIONAL, TO BE USED AS AN ART PIECE)"

It looks like it comes with an additional, regular console. So you get a decorated plastic box that doesn't do anything but elicit shame from your entire family and a real console which you already have. That isn't worth the cost of debasing yourself on X.

Re: Five Games Are Confirmed For Xbox Game Pass In September So Far

Cashews

@NintendoByNature you get forever to play them. My advice is just play one at a time and don't feel any FOMO. I'm playing the games that will be leaving after a while - so third party games - first. Lies of P looks like a game to break up the RPGness of Starfield - so both of those together.

Then the Nintendo games for Christmas break fun! Can't wait the end of this year is great for gaming. Tbh, this is probably the best year for games since 2020 for me (Animal Crossing and Monster Hunter Rise).

Re: Talking Point: What Would Convince You To Use Xbox Cloud Gaming More Often?

Cashews

@robe Samsung is the epitome of me of "smart" features that benefit Samsung 100% and the user who paid $2000 for the television exactly 0%. It quite literally has zero benefit. Unless you like watching the terrible, old, unpopular shows they were willing to pony up for.

But if you had the money to buy the tv - then you would never be watching that junk.

I get angry thinking about it but it's my basement tv. Not replacing it now. Grrrr!

Re: Five Games Are Confirmed For Xbox Game Pass In September So Far

Cashews

Cocoon looks really trippy - I'll for sure try it out.

I won't play Starfield until I finish Sea of Stars. Lies of P looks like French Steampunk Bayonetta so I'm playing that as well.

The next three months are a busy one for gaming. Mario Wonder and what looks to be the best Warioware in years too.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (August 12-13)

Cashews

After around 30 hours I wrapped up the story part of Exoprimal. The story actually wasn't half bad. It may have been silly and half baked but Capcom did put effort and time into that story. And it was original - past the whole "damsel in distress save the world with a hidden power' trope. I'll probably keep playing it for some time. I bought the battle pass even to support 'em.

Finished Serious Sam yesterday too - wondering if I want to build up a few more cheeves or not. Fun game.

I'll probably get deeper into Xenoblade 1. I've been playing Minecraft Dungeons with the fam. Street Fighter - learning Lily.

cheers all.

Re: Inside Dev Reveals 'Crazy' Discussion With Phil Spencer Over Xbox Deal

@Nalverus here in the states tracksuits are usually different than sweats. Sweats are the thick, frumpy pants that match hoodies. Which old/correct people still call sweatshirts. If they cost more than $50 they are "yoga pants". That term was invented by ladies so they didn't have to tell their friends their new clothes were sweatpants. But they are certainly sweatpants.

@Kaloudz if pants means underwear what do you you call dress pants? slacks?
