The new Starfield Xbox Wireless Controller appears to be proving popular so far, but for those who need another incentive, a special Dynamic Background for Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S is (seemingly) exclusive to the controller.

To be totally honest, we're not particularly enamoured with this background... it feels like more could have been done to create a really enticing Starfield design. Nevertheless, it's still a cool bonus for anyone who purchases the controller.

I like the controller but I prefer the Xbox coloured buttons.
I love the controller but I can’t justify buying one, there’s really no need my stock black one is fine. That background sucks I thought it would have been some stunning space vista not whatever that is 🤣

It is stunning! I really don't need another controller or I would order it today. Almost tempted to anyway.
Always a fan of a relatively minimal dynamic background. The controller looks incredible, but I'll probably be resisting the urge.
That said, if there was an elite version of this design..

@themightyant I wasn't even that keen on the game, loved Skyrim but a 40 minute presentation blew me away, the passion the love poured into this game, made me teary eyed, was emotional.
Like watching someone's story. I'm not even the biggest Single player fan, but I was moved by it! Which says something!

They've been some of favourites since Morrowind. Thousands of hours in BGS games. But I felt they were on a bit of downslope since Skyrim. Fallout 4 was a backwards step, Fallout 76 a disaster, at least at launch, Fallout Shelter a good but predatory F2P mobile game and Elder Scrolls Blades another short lived mobile game.
I honestly thought their best years were behind them and while I was still looking forward to Starfield a lot, it wasn't quite with the same fervour as in the past.
But that showcase was something else, it's made me believe again.
The only problem was the "pay £35 for early access" BS which I absolutely loathe. A slight sting in the tail of an almost perfect showing.
@themightyant I don't care about early access the game is single player, so not sure those early adopters gain anything haha!
Mine has literally just come, it’s very pretty. Even the inside of the box is a nice touch

It's such a beautiful controller design along with the headset. I had to order both. Already shipped out and will be delivered tomorrow. I'll probably never use the controller, though because my preferred controller to use with my Series X is the Elite Series 2.
@Episode_13 I wanted to play it and discuss it at the same time as my mates and Discord, but if I don't get early access we will all be at very different moments in the story and i'll have to avoid more spoilers or not discuss with them at all.
But I don't want to support the "pay to play early" business model either. And it makes a mockery of the 'Play Day 1 on Game Pass' marketing. Not the end of the world, but just something that personally grinds my gears and slightly took the sheen off an almost perfect Starfield showcase.
Got the controller but that background is not moving me. I plan to pair this controller to my new gaming room PC.
I voted not interested. Not because controller is crap because it looks pretty darn cool. Just shame is not an Elite Controller. I pre-ordered the version one for release day years ago and not gone back to regular since. Being able to remap buttons and other configurations just makes playing games sooooooo much easier that have terrible pre-configured control setups.
@themightyant I just do it over party chat, I doubt they will get that far to be honest, they can also you know wait a bit ha-ha!
@Banjo- Agreed. I plan on modding mine to have the colored button, like I have done with my other controllers that have all gray/black buttons.
Thinking on getting the controller, thankfully the stock levels in the UK at least are pretty good on this one. I think MS knew it would be a big seller.
@Cashews The non-starfield version of this headset was highly acclaimed. It may be the way to go if you're interested in this theme/game, or just go with the Xbox one released for the 20th anniversary.
@Scummbuddy Wow, that's a great idea. Where did you get original coloured buttons? I have the black Elite Series 2 but I may design my own Elite Series 2 one day.
@themightyant IDK which I hate more. "$35 for 5 day early access to our game that's almost certainly going to be just as broken on day 0 as day -5" or "Please order the story DLC months before the game even launches."
@Banjo- Sometimes I cannibalize legit controllers or I get some extra buttons from Amazon or ebay. Those may not be official ones but with the real ones, it feels great. I recommend it if you're not too worried about opening up a controller. Just don't scrape up the grip lines like I have once with using the wrong tool to open the controller up.
@Scummbuddy Good stuff. I opened my PS4 to remove the beeping speaker, that's my biggest hardware accomplishment 🤣.
Now that you guys talk about button colors, it is now that I notice... usually every xbox controller that uses flat colors or the buttons also has color key in the middle to let gamers know what color correspond to what button if they feel the need to look at the controller. This variant is missing that. I'm fine with that, but interesting omission none the less.
I think I clicked replay 5 times, couldn't figure out what I was missing...... .

Be nice for the action buttons to have the same colours used around the Xbox logo but it’s a pretty nice looking controller.

I actually think it's great for those patient enough not to preorder. The game is in regular hands, you get a better idea of the games playable state.
I'll be getting this regular day one as long as those testing it are not upset with it.
Off course I bought one. I had to.
Cause I think I've never been so excited by a game and its possibilities. The amount of passion, and details, that has been poured into this "space game" is outstanding.
For all, into the Starfield.
Tried to resit buying the controller but I've no willpower lol just ordered it on Amazon.
