@ralphdibny have you played an fps with gyro aiming? I have for splatoon and I found it so odd, so confusing I never once considered it again. My kids couldnt really use it either so I dont think it was a boomer problem.

for retro games like this I want to play them as god intended - in their original form. gyro aiming is so overrated...only by people who don't have it because it sucks.

@NEStalgia maybe because all of the articles are not about the game but about having sex with animals. That is why it's a huge pass for me. It could be the best game ever - but the marketing, and the people it appealed to, has annoyed me so much it soured me.

They spend money like drunken sailors. What a waste. Inside was fine. I wouldn't have paid them a cent for something like that. Just let it come out naturally. Or not.

Money that could have been spent paying people to develop some IP or another you had sitting in the vault. Like Mechwarrior for the love of Christ.

I agree shutting it down would be an odd move after such large acquisitions. But MS is one of the 5 most scrutinized firms on the planet - if major investors continue to hate gaming - they may flip on a dime. They have to feel pressure to make the thing a success at some point.

My opinion on this game was my own. It looks cheap and if they spent 80M on it - it was wasted money. Maybe it will be great.

These interviews with Obsidian read like apologies. I expect this game to be some of a kind awful when it drops. It really looks to be shaping into a disaster. 80M for this pos is nuts. If MS wants to not shut down it's gaming division it needs to reign in these ridiculous costs.

@jedinite I personally think those years were simply a build up to make gaming accessible to the masses. Those were my salad days I grew up on them. PS2, PS3, 360 is when gaming became more acceptable. The innovation coming out was constant.

Now we get a new type of game every half decade or so and development is focused on squeezing as much money out of the consumer as possible before they even speak to the game.

After Markus Persson struck it rich and Star Citizen created such a professional scam so many talented developers left their jobs to try to milk people for the same money. Most or all of them failed and tarnished their reputations in the meantime.

There are good games today every now and then - nut most of the industry is pretty trashy. Japan is keeping it from falling into the abyss imo.

I usually turn all of that stuff off. What is important to me is that I can drop it on the ground or spill beer all over it and it will still work.

I just want tight controls, some weight to the thing and reliability. That's it unless you are adding some sort of native keyboard - like the screen people suggested above.

@Kaloudz I agree. But people seemed to enjoy that Planet of Lana game that recently hit pass. Which is just Limbo/Inside in a different setting. I wasn't impressed with that one at all.

@BaldBelper78 SS kicked my ass last night. And I'm on the first chapter of the game.

It looks incredibly cheap - compared to a game like the new EA Immortals (saw impressive trailer for first time ln) - so I am skeptical. But I am open if the gameplay is awesome.

those are my final purchases of new games for the year.

I bought the X because it was a bluray player and I could use my old discs. I wouldn't have bought it otherwise. I wouldn't have considered it.

Once consoles go full digital I'm out and I will not go back.

I agree with the shoutouts to Ni No Kuni. Especially if you are a Ghibli fan.

It would be super cool if Level 5's pipeline would hit the Series as well as the Switch.

@BBB the 360 era was the last truly great moment for video games - before it went down the microtransaction tubes. It is no wonder people get excited about it.

All of you Britons going on about not being important. While I agree - the coverage our country gives the UK is ridiculous. You still have this weird hold over your former colony. Most of our media pretends to be fiercely anti-colonial anything...but go bananas whenever a royal is mentioned. The US probably covers the royal family as much as the UK does.

I bought my X because I owned so many 360 games over Arcade and kept so many of my favorite boxed titles. BC is such a big deal to me.

I've bought Power A for the Switch - and I like it. Anyone have opinions on how they treat the Xbox?

The movie was fantastic by the by. The 2nd best movie I've seen this year to Asteroid City. I enjoyed it much more than Mario Bros (which I also enjoyed).

I played and finished Sea of Thieves - Monkey Island last night. It was pretty cool - it felt like a point and click adventure almost in a 3D setting. Another well done RARE project. It got me back into SoT so I'll be mostly playing that this weekend.

Along with Exoprimal which I'm still having a blast in.

Watching the EVO tournament wondering how my reflexes are so much slower than everyone elses. But it's super fun to watch. The energy feels better in EVO this year. Fighters are really hitting a good stride this year.

For the Switch I'm wondering what jrpg to get into next. I have Persona 5, Xenoblade 1 and NIER ready to go. which one?!?

Oh and I'm playing Hellblade with headphones which is freaking me out.

A Short Hike is like 2 bucks on the Switch every other week for the past 5 years.

Super annoying we have to avoid game blogs and streams for a week because MS sold access to their more important customers. MS can certainly be a trashy company when they want to.

Outside of Starfield and Nintendo games - Armored Core 6 should be, and is for me, the most hype game for the rest of 2023. It looks amazing and seriously fun to play.

@ZYDIO It is a crummy practice. A lot of people complained about Nintendo shutting down the eshop - but they gave us almost TWO YEARS notice to wrap up any purchases we wanted.

I get it - they have to maintain security and focus on the new, much more popular shop. It isn't just leaving the lights on - they have to ensure everyone's accounts are secure as well as make sure no one is stealing for their sake and the sake of their partners.

I think it's okay to shut down after a long enough period.

Out of the three Nintendo is the most pro-consumer - no contest.

@Jey887 I didn't have gold back then. I played a few MS games like Sea of Thieves but nothing over gold. Confusing. I checked my balance it did not debit out any money. I am not complaining!

I bought Control: Ultimate ln because it was so cheap and had Twin Peaks vibes. I was on my phone app last night and was looking up Metal Gear: Vevengence- hit the download to console button on a whim and it downloaded without a purchase. Anyone know why? It's supposed to be $20.

They should be able to bring their catalog of bad games over fairly quickly: the remasters, NEO, Harvestalia, all of their terrible novels masquerading as games like Triangle Strategy, etc. Puke them out on the X/S it should make a few people happy.

@ZYDIO You have been mis-informed friend. Nintendo has never, for any system shut down your purchases on any of their eshops.

They shut down the eshop for CURRENT purchases but you can still access your previous purchases. That includes the wii shop, wii u and 3DS shops.

It's your life but imho Nintendo games, and the 3rd party games supported, are endlessly better than 95% of the games on the other two platforms - and the waterfall of releases can't be beat. Sure there is an occasional can't miss on these guys - Elden Ring, Hogwarts, "realistic" FPS, etc. but from a pure gameplay perspective it isn't very close. Take it easy and good luck finding what you like.

I used the sale to find a cheaper physical copy of Elden Ring. I'll always get physical over digital if I can find the deals. Not much else though - this sale was really boring and commonplace. Nothing impressive except Hogwart's because it hadn't been on sale before. I'll pick it up when it get's cheaper near Christmas.

@everynowandben Bayo 3 is great but I honestly liked the Cereza Origins story even better. It's a shame they MS didn't continue to work with Platinum to bring her to these more powerful machines.

Sea of Stars is the game I'm looking forward to most for the rest of the year besides Starfield.

@ZYDIO I thought I was upset by the dashboard but you are on another level friend! You may end up regretting such a rash decision. I'd personally wait and see if they roll it back. It is not getting any good press at all.

I'm playing Exoprimal, SF6 and seeing if I like Serious Sam or not. It is Admittedly hard to me even in the beginning. Not sure I want to go down that road. Also playing Pikmin 3 on the Switch and Radiant Historia on the 3DS when I'm on the porch enjoying summer.

@Aeula the foot in the door for microsoft in japan is minecraft. I honestly dont know if they care about the xbox in japan. Minecraft is one of japan's biggest hits and they are probably okay with selling it on the switch and pc.
