@GamingFan4Lyf My GotY is still Bayonetta Origins >.>. I didn't play TotK and haven't sunk my teeth in this one yet. I plan on Wonder flooring me. I plan on having the most fun with the new Warioware. Exoprimal was really fun.
@GuyinPA75 I've gotten headaches constantly as far back as I can remember but no video game itself has ever given me one. I've gotten plenty of headaches after a night of binge drinking > and then playing way too many hours of games to cope. But that was a result of the drinking not of the game.
let me ask yall a serious question. I never once heard anyone really complain much about getting woozy all of the time after playing games. There were people who got motion sick from faster FPS games but never just all-around like they seem to be doing today. Do you think this is a result of development, or is it in people's heads because of ridiculous sites like Digital Foundry? I think the latter. I think it is bad for the hobby and better off completely ignored.
I know by it's very definition motion sickness is simply a trick of the mind - all in one's head - it doesn't really exist. but it seems DF exacerbates this mind sickness.
The only games I consider playing over the cloud are clicky, lo-fi ones. I couldn't imagine ever wanting to play a game I actually was highly anticipating over broadband. I won't ever. If the day comes where they force us to play over the cloud I'll just play one of the 2000 games or so I have sitting all over the place - and I'll gleefully cheer on the industry's demise.
@NeoRatt I enjoyed GoW when I played it but once I played Devil May Cry and later Bayonetta I found the gameplay to be a bit simple and the setting a bit boring. It felt like Gears of War for action/adventure. Like a bro-game that choses blood and gore as a storyline because the gameplay was weak. 2 cents - like I said my familiarity with the series was only once - and a million and a half years ago.
@Cherip-the-Ripper the pixel detail is top notch, the music is as good as any game I've played recently and I just enjoy the gameplay where I'm not constantly searching for some fetch item to tack on gameplay hours - and instead enjoying a good story.
I feel like the era when game journalism used to dock games review points if they weren't long enough was a such bad influence on gaming until recently. So many games of the past decade were designed around largely pointless fetch quests or collecting money in random boxes to get the next upgrade (like Bioshock Infinite [which I thought was an abomination]). I enjoy this somewhat linear gameplay where things are hidden but not ridiculous hidden - it is refreshing having a challenging game where you don't feel the need for a guide.
It is the most enjoyable RPG I've played since Shin Megami Tensei V - which released almost 3 years ago I think. I'll pick up any dlc they put out provided it is the same quality as the base game.
I said this on Push - this may not end up being the GOTY in such a stacked year - but it most certainly deserves to be in the conversation.
@Razputinman when I think back on the games of this generation that made the biggest impact on me it will be Animal Crossing, Bayonetta 3/Bayonetta Origins and Monster Hunter Rise. I had the most fun with MH Rise and won't ever miss a Monster Hunter game again because of it. Have fun!
I'm heading off to the lake for Labor Day Weekend so while I'll be doing lake games I am bringing a controller to attempt cloud play on my tiny iphone mini. nothin serious, I just want to see if it works over a very middling wifi. Something simple and clicky like Stardew Valley.
But I'll also bring the Switch - which is really the only way to go mobile imo. I'm trying to wrap up the abysmal Pokemon Scarlet and get started on a better RPG - of which I have too many in backlog.
@DennisReynolds a 70/30 split (70 to bethesda/valve) for what was always one of the most pure aspects of pc gaming and showed off what the most talented among us could do - to simply make more money on the hard work of others you do not pay on salary...was pretty great for who?
I hope not. Bethesda was not happy after pc gamers killed their scheme with Valve to charge for mods. i have always maintained they are going to give it another go - this is the game that will show my prophecy.
Bethesda has always been at the forefront of scumbag developers looking to fleece their fans. Talented, very. but slime none-the-less. Don't forget that.
GRIS has a pretty big cult following on the switch - if you haven't played it I suggest doing so. Cool art style; decent puzzle gameplay - not too long.
@Mauzuri I am the opposite - I ONLY buy new games now. I want to support new creativity.
I only make one exception. if a game is extremely hard to find and deemed a classic and I can't find the original for a decent price or I don't have the hardware to play it - I will cave and get a remake if well done. Ghost Trick and Metroid Prime are two recent examples. Some shmups out there that cost 100s of dollars physical that are being released on the Switch - in an improved state. No brainer for me there.
But now every mediocre game or bad one like this is getting in on the milking. No way. Pretty soon every company will operate like Square Enix and just release the same games over and over and over again on every system ever made. No thanks.
Now we are remaking every garbage title ever made rather than creating. This has been a good year for games yes - it has also been an awful year and the bad signs of things to come are everywhere.
@Moonglow I have never once read that they will have ABK games day 1 from MS as their narrative. I've read that from many gamers - never MS. With the recent 5 day pre-release of starfielf I believe that is even more of a reality.
I was thinking of a smooth way to stick it to sony - from a contract perspective. They said they'd give Sony CoD for 10 years right? Did they ever say there would be a new one every year? Did they ever say they wouldn't make the game more GaaS - with the Xbox getting the lionshare of extra content?
You take away Sony's yearly 30% from the millions of CoD's sold...that's a big hit to the pocketbook.
@Moonglow I don't think CoD will ever be free on day 1 (or 5) gamepass without a hefty upgrade package like starfield. I have a hunch CoD won't hit gamepass for a month or longer in the years following the closing of the deal.
@Moonglow that's awesome. I really wanted to like it I have a soft spot in my heart for space fighting games of yore. I'd give it another shot but...Starfield. Maybe another time.
It is the flight in SF that I am most looking forward to - I hope I am not disappointed.
@Moonglow really? I uninstalled the game after the intro because I didn't like the ship handling. I didn't feel like I was flying a spaceship I felt like I was driving a Mario Kart. For me, it was too unrealistic in terms of physics and the enemies were out there just waiting for me to shoot them down.
For some reason when we were shooting the breeze last night I multiplied the steam numbers at $30 x concurrent. So stupid I didn't think that they paid 100 balloons for the thing!
@ToyTitan2267 I'm pretty excited about the new Flight Sim coming out next year. I bought my X during the summer (for Street Fighter 6) - first xbox since the 360 for me as well!
@HonestHick I had to buy 3 extra controllers for my nuclear family. So i got all different colors. Only ones that I could find under $50 all butt-ugly back plates!
If anything - Bethesda does take their time. Personally I have no hype for this game. I bet the latest Indy bombing at the box office has made the company re-think their choices. Is the character even popular anymore? Not really.
@NeoRatt I did read that. I also don't care. Horrible hire. They could have found someone who has a better finger on the pulse of Japan - which Sony, top to bottom, does not currently have.
Yeah I had to look up what Sony had even done in mobile. I guess she is a failure in that department as well.
The only reason this could be an excellent hire would be to get information about it's biggest gaming rival - Sony. Which is a viable strategy.
I'm going to read some reviews, hopefully get hyped about the peasant release date, avoid spoilers and troll playstation fans to entertain myself - if the game matches the hype.
@Nalverus I don't listen to those people. I don't consider those people very smart.
You could just take the good games on Nintendo + - and you'd have 1000s of hours of not only good games - but games considered the greatest video games in the history of the industry.
I have expansion as well and bought all of the classic controllers except the NES one ;;;>.> even the Master System controller!
@Nalverus well they have some fluff. They have classic titles that never go away - unlike Gamepass and Sony's crapfest the offerings haven't been taken away. Not only but they are better than remakes - because they add online, pause features, rewind, quicksaves etc.
@CallMeDuraSouka To me it is painfully obvious that Microsoft is doing what they can to increase value - to get over the "plateau" that the NPD and some random blogger have deemed it.
They have acquired companies, they have increased the release schedule of big name (and smaller name) games, they have integrated Twitch support, etc. They have made many missteps but at least are attempting to add value.

my boring point - these subs are showing less value every day - better options abound. gamepass is still a value to me. This Sony thing is a joke. They are the worst of the bunch by a large margin. Even Nintendo's is miles better than Sony. Why people continue to support that ugly monstrosity is beyond me. Nostalgia I suppose.

Quake 2 Remaster. A 7. i got banned for pointing it out.; I'll probably get banned here for saying as much.

@OldGamer999 I have a Samsung S95B and I hate it passionately. I would not recommend buying a Samsung for any reason. Sony makes better televisions.

Re: Review: Starfield - Bethesda Serves Up Its Best RPG Yet In A Messy, Exciting And Emotional Space Odyssey
"Very, very good rpg" is what I want out of any game I sit down to play really. I don't need my mind to melt.
For my own experience I went ahead and just (10 minutes ago) created my character - to really sink into this one for the rest of the week....or year.

I've had wait times of 15 minutes or so before Starfield was released.
Re: Check Out This Amazing 6000 Piece Starfield LEGO Set
That isn't a set it is something someone built. A set you go out and buy - and no one would buy that - so they would never make that a set.

So it is a video game.
I am going to play it in 6 days.

If forums are any indication you people should expect to pay $30 or more dollars for a few days early access on every major game going forward.
Good job everyone you are the problem.
