@themightyant I think it's been pretty tame in the states. I see more Nintendo ads and sports - NBA and Madden.

Then again, I moved to the suburbs and don't go into the city very often any longer - I don't see the posters, bus ads and what-not. Thank ****ing god almighty.

@OldGamer999 Maybe. Or they have reams of data saying that is an ineffective use of capital. MS does data as good as anyone.

FF16 did the whole double decker bus bit and tv adverts - it did nothing for them.

I believe gamepass is an education thing - and it is a problem. I had no idea really what gamepass even after I bought the XSX. It seems basic - if you've been on the thing for a while - but for an outsider who initially doesn't care at all about subscription video gaming - they just don't know about it.

Subs and console sales will tell the true story.

Man you guys are all over the map on this one. 9 here, a 6 on Push and a flippin 4 on NL. Shows how wildly inconsistent the entire process is really.

@tallythwack I have no idea why they want it on that system. I sure as hell don't. Square Enix sucks donkey balls. They aren't worth a pot of piss if I were Phil and they asked me for a $50 cab fare to put FF16 on gamepass permanently I'd have them thrown down a mountain instead.

@tallythwack that could be an excellent opportunity though. Force Sony to spend money ona declining brand. pretend like you give two sh*ts about Final Fantasy, make Sony spend stupid amounts of money on a dying brand - win.

Minecraft is a Japanese sales chart evergreen. It literally never leaves the japanese chart. MS has their foot in the door - more than any time in their gaming history - they just need to figure out how to exploit it.

japan is always worth going after because of how talented they are at developing games. i also assume most of MS's developers are somewhat attached to their culture. people simply desire to be accepted by them even to a fault.

@EvenStephen7 The PS5 has no jrpgs. if you are into jrpgs you play them on the Switch. Any fighter on the PS5 is on the XSX.

@Benjamin to be fair Lost Odyssey was a terrible, horrible video game.

I agree jrpgs aren't the way to go. Monster Hunter is probably too hard - that game has too much of a following for anyone to consider leaving it. Obviously MS's strength rn in the japanese market is Minecraft. Exploit that in the same way Pokemon exploits their young.

I'd support existing studios like Capcom and give Nintendo anything they want (like Azure support and eshop discounts) to try to get gamepass on their next gen.

@Blaa I do not think Japanese people would particularly care about that game. FF games disappear off the sale charts as quickly in japan as they do everywhere else now. Square Enix is a waste of resource. Better to let them fade into obsurity. the only reason to approach SE is to take away the press release's "we have exclusive Final Fantasy" from Sony.

I believe they'd care more about quirky titles like Pikmin or a co-op GaaS game like Monster Hunter tailored for their tastes. Maybe a Splatoon knockoff that doesn't suck. Or more cloud information as they obviously like mobile.

I honestly dont care if it comes or not - SE sucks. Their best days are a speck in the rearview.

But it would provide entertainment value from playstation obsessives - who are always good for a few laffs.

Maybe another Minecraft game and something completely out of left field would be welcome.

I kind of don't care. I dont have a sub until 2326 like a lot of people seem to do here. i can let it lapse in November and be none the worse for it. I have a few really good games on this system i can play for a long time. I have 100 or so on the Switch and 100s on steam and GBA advance, and etc forever.

the entire industry can shut down tomorrow and as long as we dont go mad Max and lose electric power - I can live with this.

but I'd rather things be good. So it doesn't pay for me to be negative really.

@Tharsman hope so - I'd love a big push into japan. Sony doesn't seem interested in their home country - may as well take their place in gaming.

If I were MS I'd do a full court press presentation to Nintendo for getting gamepass on their next console. Huge longshot but that's what I'd do. I'd ask MS upstairs for all the concessions I could get - and go for it all.

I really hope MS has another answer to this lackluster showcase. It shouldn't be very hard.

@shoeses i never read Nintendo had full rights on SMTV. I just assumed Atlus went there because that is where the units were.

I've played, loved and beaten the game - I just want as many people to play it as possible. it's the best in the series imo.

@Spider-Kev if you haven't noticed, the publishers are coming around to boxing them out. I expect in five years blogs will not get any free games from major publishers. I also expect publishers to have their own blogs - written entirely by AI.

Anyone know if the other game is super easy? This looks like a kid friendly spooky game for my two young kids - which would be awesome.

@Skedaddle Don't they sell SoT for practically nothing on the regular? I bought it on the pc at release so it doesn't matter for me - but I see sales on it constantly. The game is one of the best values in all of gaming there isn't a reason to not just plunk down the money imho.

I really don't. I find the more things that release in a short amount of time the less I play of anything. I keep bouncing around games instead of focusing and I end up not enjoying much of anything truth be told.

And Fall means even more going outside for me. But life is good.

@JayJ when I was a kid most games were so hard you could barely finish them. Most you simply couldn't. It isn't punishment some people just like the feeling when you beat something that not everyone can do.

It is like a trophy for actual winners - instead of participation trophies. Not for everyone - but it is for many people including me.

I am more stoked for this one than I was Starfield. I like everything about it I can see.

@BBB careful what you ask for hombre. they are coming and Microsoft is going to charge you a premium for other people fixing their games.

@Tharsman I guess I should have stated "general maps". either works. In a game about the future where you are zipping around space - cartography would seemingly be an afterthought. It is stupid to have it missing and takes nothing from immersion and gameplay.

@pip_muzz it is 100% a thing. Always smaller sites that need more traffic - they create a post that will incite rage and engagement of the forum. people click the highest rated reviews and the lowest - none in between.

Looks good. But the most requested feature is a mini map.

@Dan1283 for people who buy a lot of games, just really need online and don't want to pay more per month than they need to.

me: I buy many games physically. I don't need 100 games to play per month but I need online. This gives me a few great games to play that i haven't yet and cuts out the fluff.

I personally like it.

@Trmn8r A CEO does have to put their trade order in months in advance because of insider trading laws but on the surface that does look untoward. I'm sure some of these disgruntled developers will put the SEC on their trail - which they absolutely should.

That is a decent list - after this fall I may downgrade.
