Re: Capcom Giving Out Exoprimal Freebie To Celebrate 1 Million Players

@Avaloner when Monster Hunter started waaaaaaay back when - it was thin like this game. If this game is a hit it will get more - and you can tell young people you were there for the first one.

I agree though. I would have started this at $40 - to get people to pay attention...gradually discounting it to $20 with the plan of F2P after 2 years. Give the people who bought some gold trinket or another.

Re: Tencent Will Soon Become 'Majority Shareholder' Of Dying Light Developer Techland

Cashews

@StonyKL Well, Nintendo doesn't really seem all too interested in the sub model first - and they are absolutely dominating Sony and MS in this space - so ultimately it is what the customer wants.

Show where your allegiances lie by buying games not renting them I guess.

It isn't my problem. I'm only going to take part in something I personally find value in. I have so many good games lined up I could abandon buying a new game for the rest of my life and never approach finishing everything I errantly bought over the years. Something I am quite willing to do if it came to it. I dont need MS or Tencent and never will. But in the meantime - the cost is less than the value for me.

Re: Random: Twitter's New 'X' Logo Is Getting The Attention Of Xbox Fans

@NEStalgia I don't get this one either. But Facebook did the same thing.

I guess the logic is: there is dissatisfaction with the product - so change the name so the dum-dums are confused. Plus, he says he wants it more than just the text forum app. I guess if you want people to think of it as more than Twitter - you have to make it not Twitter.

I guess. That's as good of an explanation I can guess at.

Re: Microsoft Seems To Have Improved More Xbox 360 Matchmaking, This Time With Gears Of War

Cashews

With the industry moving towards becoming stale and uninspired I like that MS is moving towards more backwards compatibility with the classics.

I'd rather they update the old games rather than waste time on more and more remasters. Publishers are getting more lazy, more greedy by the hour. While you think they couldn't be any more debased - gamers, while always one of the lowest form of consumer, are becoming more complacent and dumb by the day as well.

Re: Talking Point: After Almost Four Years, We're Starting To Miss Gears

Cashews

I bought the 360 because of Gears - but after 2 I never wanted to play it again. I hate the story, the grimdark gets old, the jacked up characters feel way too 2000sBro. Granted, I never played anything after 2 - nothing anywhere near this gen.

I played Ultimate a few weeks ago to get the weekly quest. The multiplayer matches wasn't fun to me anymore.

tl;dr I can live without Gears forever.

Re: Xbox Extends Activision Blizzard Takeover Deadline To October

@Moonglow I've worked for companies that bring in CEOs that are just there for the set up. Get the big sale. You make your company lean and mean - the books are more important than the content.

After the sale you stay on for the cursory "I still care about this company" thing and then you disappear. To either sit on a beach or move on to the next. Kotick will move on to the next.

Kotick hated video games and gamers especially - he was always the setup guy - and did he job as effectively as you can really. Big payday for the time he put in.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of 'Exoprimal' On Xbox Game Pass?

Cashews

It is the game I'm playing most right now. I wish it had another mode or two but the loop is fantastic. Every game you play unlocks more [serviceable] story, more weapons n stuff. Co-op is fun, pvp is also great fun. PVP is very novel: the race and the final push. Forums like this always attract more pve only people, shut ins mostly, but this one is no stress. Or good stress rather. After getting to player level 15 or so the difficulty starts really ramping up and doesn't go down.

The story and characters are cliche and weak - the VA is over-affected; over-dramatic, the whole cast is there: Nerdy guy who figures it all out. Tough cookie lady with a backstory. The "boss" - wisecracking, yelling, the whole 1980s cop movie police sergeant thing. Robot people find an emotional attachment to. But as a whole it's still fun enough to keep me interested.

If Capcom keep up with this title it has potential to be in their big leagues. I said 9. Not as a review but because I am personally enjoying it so much. Probably an 8ish as an impartial review.

Re: 2023 Showcase Was Xbox's 'Highest Rated' And 'Most Viewed' Show Ever

Cashews

@Utena-mobile You missed one. It was what you said plus Sony's awful showcase (and future lineup) that gave this console life.

I am simply one anecdote but I was buying a PS5 for Street Fighter the week of their showcase. It gave me serious pause - enough to wait for MS's go at it. Their hand was of course much stronger - so I bought the X instead. My story is not unique I'd bet your eternal soul.

Re: Reaction: Game Pass Core Marks The End Of Xbox's Most Influential Product

Cashews

@IOI How it works nowadays? Yes. That is why it is bad. Online gaming, in it's infancy, was working fine before xbox started charging for it.

Understate the innovation? Can you show me where live dollars went into innovation? Playstation service dollars? Nintendo dollars - all as a result of MS charging what was for free before that.

Re: Xbox Summer Demo Event 2023 Now Live, 40+ Games Available

Cashews

@mousieone you are right. The way I see it is the Switch version is the closest one to the original. It has touch controls. Tbh, it isn't really comparable. I hope people play it on every console it is a great game. But if you have a switch and an xbox...no contest.

Re: Xbox Summer Demo Event 2023 Now Live, 40+ Games Available

I played Sea of Stars on the Switch (like 6 months ago) and deleted it after 10 minutes - knowing for a fact I'd be playing it one way or another when it drops. Happy it is coming to gamepass. That's likely where I will play it first!

Ghost Trick is awesome...but this isn't the console I'd play it on for that game.

Re: How To Watch This Week's ID@Xbox July 2023 Showcase

Cashews

Better than this: Capcom has their Exoprimal showcase tonight at 7something EST.

The sonyboys are angry it's releasing on gamepass. So angry they have declared it instant junk! I really think we should support the game (if it's fun) by playing the heck out of it. (even the people Superman will throw into the sun)

Re: Talking Point: Have You Ever Taken A 'Day Off' For Something Xbox Related?

Cashews

Once. On the 360 I took off from work to play the first week of to play Call of Duty: World at War. Like many I was obsessed with CoD 4- to me still the greatest in the franchise. I was disappointed and my group lost the fire a bit. That first year of COD4 was amazing. Maybe the most fun I've ever had playing an online game. We met every night without fail and had a blast.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (July 8-9)

@Ryne-Gaia Bayonetta Origins is my straight up GOTY so far. I expected to enjoy it, because I am a nut for Bayonetta - but Origins: Cereza exceeded my expectations and then some. I honestly enjoyed it more than Bayo 3 - and I loved Bayo 3.

I am open to maybe Starfield beating Bayo Origins as my favorite game of 2023 but it a very tall order.

@gravelmonkey if you have a Switch and you have a jrpg itch that's the place really. I suggest Shin Megami Tensei V - a switch exclusive and the Xenoblade games. Top notch stuff. Better than anything currently on the xbox or playstation by far.
