That's a pretty good list. Fable is the game I'm most interested in playing, I thought the first two Fables were great (Fable 3 not so much) but I'm not optimistic. Expedition 33 looks promising though.
I love the S. So small and quiet, doesn't overheat. I bought it mostly because Xs were constantly out of stock at the time. However I'm glad I did get the smaller machine now. Non, je ne regrette rien.
Fable. I'd read a feature and dev interview in Edge and was completely tweaked. I know the final game differed somewhat from the vision Peter "I may have exaggerated just a tiny, little bit" Molyneux was pedalling but it was, in the end, a genuinely brilliant, innovative game. And very British too.
Why does it take Bethesda so bloody long to get games out? Fallout 4 was released over 8 years ago, Skyrim over 13 years ago.
I have no idea whether committing time and resources to their online games has any impact on the progress of Fallout 5 and TES6, but it feels as though two very popular (and presumably very profitable) games are being held back with no discernible reason.
Forcing staff onto zero hour contracts is such a despicable way to operate. I hope Game's staff can find jobs with firms that treat their employees like human beings.
Fingers crossed Sega will be able to license more music by the Offspring. Crazy Taxi just won't be the same without a sweaty punk irritant bellowing oafish gibberish throughout.
Twice. Also the first Xbox One I bought had to be replaced as it had a clanky fan (sorry if my tech jargon is going over your heads). In fairness to Microsoft they replaced all of them in a just a few days. Old Box and Series S however, are apparently indestructible.
I loved No Man's Sky. It takes quite a commitment to really get the best out of it but it's very rewarding if you do. I haven't played anything else quite like it.
I think feedback from other users on this site is usually a better guide of a game's overall worth. I'm interested to see what people have to say about this after a few weeks of playing.
I really hope that this game is a good one. Fallout 3 and 4, and Oblivion, Morrowind and Skyrim were superb despite their many, many technical issues. I'd be very surprised if this doesn't require numerous patches and updates before it hits its potential. It would also be nice if Bethesda have forked out for a decent writing team. For once.
£15! The 4% that voted "Yes! Definitely want to get it!" must be Ubisoft employees. I would guess that Ubisoft don't need a big subscriber base to make this a profitable venture, they've already made the games, and future releases will still be available to purchase separately.
This is great. I like dipping in and out FH. Prior to returning I frequently forget how much progress I've made (despite not being particularly great at racing games) and the daft amount of cars I've got, which seem to appear on my list quicker than I can gift them. I really enjoy the off road doings the best so this update right up my gravelly road.
I'm really interested to see how this looks when it finally comes out. I hope this is a big improvement on their Rory McIlroy installment. The core golf game was very good indeed, but the content built around it was really parsimonious. And the character creation was abysmal too.
Witcher 3, enjoying a new play through with shiny updates. I played High on Life for about half an hour, hoping it would be better than the reviews suggested. It wasn't.
@Tharsman I'm 51 and also have no kids! Looking forward to playing this with no interruptions from noisy annoying children, or having to go to some dumb nativity play. What a life!
I played Scorn for about an hour. It looks amazing, and I really enjoyed the puzzles, which are of the type I don't usually have much patience for. However the game gave me chronic motion sickness so I had to give up on it.
Since then I've played Besiege, which I highly recommend. I only tried it out of curiosity and it's been one of the most enjoyable games I've played in ages. It's very, very clever, and a really polished, slick game.
I loved the Splinter Cell games, particularly Chaos Theory, despite the incredibly dull, and often unintentionally funny stories. I suspect that by "modern audiences" they mean people who are accustomed to watching well written TV shows. Sadly, the racist homophobes will crawl out from their mum's basement to whine about woke people ruining their games. Again.
@BAMozzy Eh? Sorry, maybe I didn't write it very well, but I was in complete agreement with you, on every point. I think video game firms are taking advantage of FOMO (I hate the term) and taking customers money for pre-orders on games that have well over year's worth of development to go is plainly wrong. You're right, Amazon for instance doesn't take a penny til items are despatched. I don't see why it can't be the same for digital.
I really, really enjoyed it, up to a point. I thought it was a nice to change to the usual, unintentionally hilarious moody, violent, sweary video games. The combat felt a lot more streamlined than Ass Creed and the world was interesting to explore. However the boss fights were a tedious old slog, they weren't hard to beat, it just took forever to whittle down their health. Not fun. At all.
@BAMozzy I know that people get stoked for a game they're looking forward to, but why would anyone be happy with handing over money for a product that isn't even completed? I think digital purchases ought have the same buyers' rights as physical. Firms shouldn't be able to take your payment until you're at least allowed to download the finished game.
@phoenix1 What on earth are you talking about? It's fine if you you don't want to play this game but it isn't pornographic. And any responsible parent won't let young kids have unsupervised, unrestricted access to Gamepass where there are loads of 18 cert games.
@Acurisur A lot of people would rather complain than make a change. I particularly enjoy reading, "Gamepass sucks!" every month on these updates, from people who can't entertain the idea that others enjoy these games. All that matters is that we all get read their fascinating, erudite opinions.
@Richnj Yeah, this annoys me. I love all the ES and Fallout games, they're really popular and they must surely be financial successes. But regardless of how much I enjoy these games, and go back for multiple playthroughs, I can't help but see how stingy and lazy the production feels, the lack of polish is evident everywhere.
Surely they can now afford to step up production. I don't think I'm being particularly entitled to want a new installment of these games more than once a decade. And a bit more care and polish would be nice.
@jcboyer515 Cheers. I did not know you could do that. I think, generally this is a great site. Aside from the occasional, "Is Forza better than GT?" baiting piece, it's a well written, good natured place. The writers seem like a great bunch of lads! It's nice to show some gratitude occasionally.
While it may seem like semantics, I feel that the most inflammatory aspect of commenting on these events (and gaming in general) is the inability of so many gamers to see that their opinion is not a definitive verdict.
It is possible that this was actually a perfectly good presentation despite the fact that they, personally thought, "Where's all the triple A exclusives then eh??!!!?? Waaaah! This SUCKS!!!!!!!"
Christ on a bike! What have they done with all the dosh they raked in from the multiple ports of Skyrim? Can they really not afford to set up another studio to get working on the next Fallout? At this rate I'll be 60 years old by the time Fallout 5 comes out.
It would interesting to see how many gamers eventually buy their own copy of a game (or the DLC packs) after playing it on Gamepass. I've been playing Sniper Elite on Gamepass and will definitely buy the DLC when it's released, or even the inevitable GOTY edition.
I'd rather there were no exclusive titles. I'd rather buy one console and be able to play Zelda, Spiderman and Forza on it. But this isn't the way things are unfortunately. If Xbox don't build up a stock of exclusive titles why would anyone buy their machine? People will just buy Sony's console, play all the games available on the Xbox and the Sony exclusives too.
I've spent all morning playing Sniper Elite 5. SE4 was one of my favourite games of recent years and 5 is even better. Rebellion have done a superb job with this.
Cricket, along with golf and snooker, I find dull or even actively annoying to watch. However, golf, in particular, seems to make really engrossing, chilled out video games. I imagine cricket might hit that spot too.
I think it's great the owners of the older console aren't being left behind with new releases. Not everyone can afford to get a Series X or S, or are just content to carry on using their Xbox One. It's a pretty ungracious attitude to be griping on and on about Series XS games being compromised by this.
