Re: Talking Point: Would You Like To See Xbox Focus On A New Fallout Game?

Barry_Biscuits

Why does it take Bethesda so bloody long to get games out? Fallout 4 was released over 8 years ago, Skyrim over 13 years ago.

I have no idea whether committing time and resources to their online games has any impact on the progress of Fallout 5 and TES6, but it feels as though two very popular (and presumably very profitable) games are being held back with no discernible reason.

Re: Poll: What Score Do You Think You'll Be Giving Starfield In September?

Barry_Biscuits

I really hope that this game is a good one. Fallout 3 and 4, and Oblivion, Morrowind and Skyrim were superb despite their many, many technical issues. I'd be very surprised if this doesn't require numerous patches and updates before it hits its potential. It would also be nice if Bethesda have forked out for a decent writing team. For once.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (October 15-16)

I played Scorn for about an hour. It looks amazing, and I really enjoyed the puzzles, which are of the type I don't usually have much patience for. However the game gave me chronic motion sickness so I had to give up on it.

Since then I've played Besiege, which I highly recommend. I only tried it out of curiosity and it's been one of the most enjoyable games I've played in ages. It's very, very clever, and a really polished, slick game.

Re: Ubisoft's Splinter Cell Remake Will 'Update The Story' For Modern Audiences

Barry_Biscuits

I loved the Splinter Cell games, particularly Chaos Theory, despite the incredibly dull, and often unintentionally funny stories. I suspect that by "modern audiences" they mean people who are accustomed to watching well written TV shows. Sadly, the racist homophobes will crawl out from their mum's basement to whine about woke people ruining their games. Again.

Re: Xbox Appears To Be Refunding Stalker 2 Digital Pre-Orders

Barry_Biscuits

@BAMozzy Eh? Sorry, maybe I didn't write it very well, but I was in complete agreement with you, on every point. I think video game firms are taking advantage of FOMO (I hate the term) and taking customers money for pre-orders on games that have well over year's worth of development to go is plainly wrong. You're right, Amazon for instance doesn't take a penny til items are despatched. I don't see why it can't be the same for digital.

Re: Poll: What Score Would You Give Immortals Fenyx Rising On Xbox Game Pass?

Barry_Biscuits

I really, really enjoyed it, up to a point. I thought it was a nice to change to the usual, unintentionally hilarious moody, violent, sweary video games. The combat felt a lot more streamlined than Ass Creed and the world was interesting to explore. However the boss fights were a tedious old slog, they weren't hard to beat, it just took forever to whittle down their health. Not fun. At all.

Re: Xbox Appears To Be Refunding Stalker 2 Digital Pre-Orders

Barry_Biscuits

@BAMozzy I know that people get stoked for a game they're looking forward to, but why would anyone be happy with handing over money for a product that isn't even completed? I think digital purchases ought have the same buyers' rights as physical. Firms shouldn't be able to take your payment until you're at least allowed to download the finished game.

Re: Fallout 5 Will Come After Elder Scrolls 6, Confirms Todd Howard

Barry_Biscuits

@Richnj Yeah, this annoys me. I love all the ES and Fallout games, they're really popular and they must surely be financial successes. But regardless of how much I enjoy these games, and go back for multiple playthroughs, I can't help but see how stingy and lazy the production feels, the lack of polish is evident everywhere.

Surely they can now afford to step up production. I don't think I'm being particularly entitled to want a new installment of these games more than once a decade. And a bit more care and polish would be nice.

Re: Reaction: Credit Where Credit's Due, We Got Plenty Of Gameplay At The Xbox Showcase

Barry_Biscuits

While it may seem like semantics, I feel that the most inflammatory aspect of commenting on these events (and gaming in general) is the inability of so many gamers to see that their opinion is not a definitive verdict.

It is possible that this was actually a perfectly good presentation despite the fact that they, personally thought, "Where's all the triple A exclusives then eh??!!!?? Waaaah! This SUCKS!!!!!!!"

Re: Rumour: Indiana Jones Might Not Be An Xbox Exclusive

Barry_Biscuits

I'd rather there were no exclusive titles. I'd rather buy one console and be able to play Zelda, Spiderman and Forza on it. But this isn't the way things are unfortunately. If Xbox don't build up a stock of exclusive titles why would anyone buy their machine? People will just buy Sony's console, play all the games available on the Xbox and the Sony exclusives too.

Re: Xbox One Is Probably Here To Stay, Whether We Like It Or Not

Barry_Biscuits

I think it's great the owners of the older console aren't being left behind with new releases. Not everyone can afford to get a Series X or S, or are just content to carry on using their Xbox One. It's a pretty ungracious attitude to be griping on and on about Series XS games being compromised by this.
