Perhaps one of the most exciting announcements last year was Bethesda announcing a new Indiana Jones game by Bethesda and Wolfenstein developer, MachineGames, under the supervision of Lucasfilm Games.
We've not really heard all that much about it since then, but one question that continues to resurface is whether or not it'll be exclusive to Xbox. Apparently not, according to Windows Central journalist, Jez Corden. Here's what he had to say in the latest episode of the Xbox Two podcast, courtesy of Twitter user ChillBandit:
However, there's also been a twist in the tale this morning, as journalist Shpeshal_Nick has claimed that the latest information he's received is that it is exclusive, with Corden admitting it could be true as he's received old info:
Regardless of whether it's exclusive or not, the game is a long way off. Last June, Bethesda's Pete Hines noted how the team was still in the "very, very, very early stages" of development.
If this doesn't turn out to be an Xbox exclusive, how would you feel? Leave a comment down below.

The only people who care about it being exclusive are those who want to participate in Console wars. As long as the game is good and it drops on Game Pass day 1 then Xbox players should be happy.
as Indiana jones will have to be licenced it might well not be exclusive
Jez has stated his Bethesda sources are extremely limited plenty of times. The first time this came up, I’m sure he stated it was just his assumption thinking that Disney would insist on it being multiplat, but I doubt any of these licenses would insist on multiplat. I never seen such a licensee demand multiplat outside of sport games.
Well if it does go to playstation ill play it there. It uts xbox exclusive ill just do a free month of gamepass and play on xbox
These guys always making up lies to stir up debates and bring them views, that's why this guys track record is p**s poor for being accurate, can't believe people still listen to this guy
Shouldn't be on Playstation. Period. I see people saying xbox has psychonauts 2 when they mention that xbox has quality titles. Bro. It's on ps4. Who cares? It's not a selling point. Gamepass or not baby. People who say that were going to get xbox anyways. They need more titles atm.
@Chaudy i think exclusives are important. A vast majority of folk who say they prefer Playstation say so because of the exclusives. PS exclusives really are on another level. This, imo, is why Playstation massively outsells Xbox, the exclusives. Other than that both PS5 an XSX are pretty identical.
@Chaudy It’s always funny that we get people so far on opposite sides of the spectrum, yet both consider everything ‘black or white’…
It’s certainly not just those that want to participate in console wars that care if games are exclusive. Exclusives sell services and hardware. Don’t believe different. It’s always been this case.
Not every body is lucky enough to be able to afford all consoles. Exclusive games offer undeniable value to one console over another when making purchasing considerations. As you know.
Xbox wants and need exclusives…don’t believe that nonsense when they say how they want everybody enjoying games and use buzzwords like ‘inclusivity’.
Look at actions. Look at how these things that have proven successful are run.
Xbox has two platforms…gamepass being one of them. And you can trust exclusives are even more important for a subscription model.
There’s a reason why Disney +, prime, Netflix, apple, any other subscription service you care to mention…invest in exclusive content.
Exclusivity isn’t the only selling point, don’t get it twisted. Ecosystem is huge. Quality of life measures. But exclusive content, regardless of what that content is, is probably more important to most now than ever before.
From the beginning we've been hearing that this might not be exclusive cuz of the licensing. We'll see in the end but it will be in gamepass day n date anyway so not a big deal for me. I get that people are big on exclusives but Xbox is definitely going more towards having titles in gamepass day n date vs exclusive for 3rd party deals. This could have had a contract with Disney already when they bought Zenimax.
Don’t care either way, certainly not even before I’ve even seen the game.
@Chaudy Simply put, exclusives are important. I play
my Xbox the least of my consoles because there’s so few exclusives. Because there’s less exclusives, I buy more multiplat games for my PS5 because it’s slightly more convenient, as well. Xbox theoretically should be more convenient because of Gamepass and xCloud, but it just isn’t for me because there’s a lack of exclusives. I mean, Stadia was potentially super convenient as well, but the lack of interesting content for the “console” led it to being packed in a box. Lol. I doubt that’ll happen for my Xbox because I truly hope the exclusives pick up, but still…
@CrazyJF
Gamers do not benefit from exclusivity. Exclusivity by its very nature gives some gamers games that cannot be found anywhere else.
All gamers benefit when games are not exclusive because all gamers have an opportunity to play the games.
Competition is great, exclusivity is not really competition it is about blackmailing gamers that your platform has games another one does not, and if you like that game you end up buying that platform.
Platforms should be sold based on its platform hardware, features, and services not based on games it has or has not. You don't buy PC computers like Dell, HP, or whatever based on application exclusivity.. Both phones/tablets and consoles have created artificial competitiveness through apps/game exclusivity. I can't wait for the day that ends.
@NeoRatt a game actually can benefit from exclusivity because it has fewer platforms to support, and can dedicate more time on the quality and content of the game.
A game that is exclusive to Xbox and PC would not ever even have to worry about any graphic APIs other than DirectX for example.
@NeoRatt
You have everything you said backwards. Games are EVERYTHING. It's why those services, features etc. exist lol. Games. They came first.
You really think Sony would be the Sony that it's now if exclusives didn't matter?
No one knows for sure yet if it's gonna be exclusive or not..
Exclusive games and IP are critical for the health of a console manufacturer and the games industry as a whole. If Nintendo didn't own so many beloved IP that have remained exclusive to their consoles, they wouldn't have been in a position to continue fighting (and sometimes dominating) larger companies like Sony and Microsoft who have alternative revenue streams that help to feed their console ambitions.
There would be no Switch system today and no promise of future innovations or gaming experiences from a company that would have been unable to compete as a hardware manufacturer, if their games were on all competing consoles.
Making a decision as to which console to buy is not just about specs and features. What happens when all three major console manufacturers release a system with identical specs, features AND games? .....why would anyone buy more than one? They wouldn't, which means the market shrinks, and the dynamic that currently exists where gamers buy more than one console to get at that companies exclusives, disappears. This means less dollars spread amongst the various manufacturers, which ultimately means you likely wind up with two of them going out of business, with only the most financially viable company remaining. In that scenario, Microsoft wins and the world of console gaming comes down simply to Xbox.
Believe it or not, exclusive games (even Microsofts ability to secure them for their own platform) is the bulwark that works against a gaming landscape that sees Xbox as the sole console option.
Exclusive titles are critical and help shape the value proposition for the consumer when deciding which console to buy.
if you keep it exclusive you sell less copies but long term helps sell more consoles which in turn means you make more on the 25% store cut from everybody elses 3rd party games as well. so you gain in the long term.
exclusivity bad for gamers but good for sony and nintendo and Microsoft
@GunValkyrian Hopefully! Redfall and Starfield are the only confirmed titles at the moment. Xbox has enough in the works for where 2023 will tell us if that initial Xbox showcase was a guideline for the entire generation or if it’s only the start. I’m really curious if MS is literally just going to try to milk Gamepass for 2022 or if we will actually get some real surprises.
@Chaudy S
I'd rather there were no exclusive titles. I'd rather buy one console and be able to play Zelda, Spiderman and Forza on it. But this isn't the way things are unfortunately. If Xbox don't build up a stock of exclusive titles why would anyone buy their machine? People will just buy Sony's console, play all the games available on the Xbox and the Sony exclusives too.
Could be a timed exclusive like the Knights of the Old Republic remake is supposed to be.
Couldn't care less either way. I had to buy both a PS5 and Series X because of 'exclusives' - even though they make up a small fraction of the Games I play.
I have no doubt that it will be on Game Pass as its funded by MS even if its not exclusive. Therefore I'm most likely to play on Xbox - as I do for the majority of my games because I have a much larger Library of games - thanks to Game Pass, BC etc. My PS5 has become 'just' for those 'Only on Playstation' games because everything else is on Xbox. Also, not spending £70 on games, so I'll wait for the 'few' exclusives that I want to play to drop in price (or get them used on Ebay). I'll wait for timed exclusives to come to Game Pass too...
Sony's Exclusives aren't 'bigger', don't have 'higher' budgets, etc than other AAA games - the difference is that Sony delays games so they release when 'ready', not pushed out to meet deadlines like most other Publishers. MS seem to be doing the same too. Underneath the 'pretty' visuals, the game-play, story etc is often quite average but 'helped' by stable frame rates. None are on the scale of games like RDR2, GTAv etc yet somehow are a 'premium' game over the likes of those. Sony is just another AAA game publisher that will delay games to ensure they are 'ready' to release where as others push out much bigger scale, bigger budget projects etc out rather than delay and incur more costs - bigger studio's, more employees etc so cost 'more' to make, cost more to delay etc.
Point is, Sony Exclusives are no more 'Premium' than other AAA game studio and 'benefit' from having their own platform - so why Charge more??
Could easily be an MLB situation where the licensor says it can't be exclusive. No way around that other than don't make the game.
Though I still see the era of exclusives ending. With Sony strongly signaling exclusivity isn't their real strategy anymore and Xbox saying so for years, I think that's a holdover from the Nintendo vs Sega wars and with the cost of games, I'm thinking both companies are ready to have strategies other than exclusivity as they money maker. They'll have a few games to differentiate but not whole libraries. Not all right now but over the generation.
I rather not it be an exclusive, that way more people can enjoy it.
@sjbsixpack ps exclusives were on another level. All they have this gen that's worth a piss is a remake of a PS3 game and of course god of war whenever it comes out. I seriously don't see what is so great on PlayStation recently. Xbox hasn't had much either but I wouldn't trade my Xbox exclusives for PlayStations and I certainly wouldn't trade xbox's upcoming exclusives for theirs. Whenever these devs get their ***** together and start getting their games out it's not even going to be close anymore at least imo. And no horizon forbidden west is trash, just like zero dawn was. Those games are just glorified Ubisoft clones
@FreqMode Sonys games are very good, but nowadays they're not all that special. They feel like good games that any good publisher could have made. Worth buying, with playing, very but generically good in a way that they'd feel best as multiplat and don't define a platform like the Sony exclusives of old. IMO though, even though everyone praised PS4, I felt that started mid way through PS4. The old Sony exclusives that were avant garde and experimental were mostly PS1,2,3,psp. And the brief vita flash in the pan. Mostly Japanese games. It gave ps a unique feel as the anti-Nintendo. Other than returnal which wasn't even their studio at the time the last really unique ps thing of probably Astro vr. Maybe The Order that failed. TLG that was a late ps3 title on ps4. Sotc, but it was a remake and it failed. Ps3 may have failed but it was the last true "PlayStation" to me
@NeoRatt tell Sony your story and if they listen then Xbox can listen. Until then if Sony locks ***** down so should MS, it's as simple as that. Im not interested in what gamers that are only on PlayStation want or don't want. Do you think if Sony had the deep pockets MS does that they would be putting their new acquisitions on Xbox, hell no they wouldn't
Prefer tomb raider & uncharted tbh
@uptownsoul Todd Howard talks out of his arse lol 'it just works'
By exclusive they mean not on Playstation. Pretty sure PC will get this game either way. Xbox really doesn't care about games exclusive to their platform. Phil Spencer has been saying that for years.
I wouldn't be surprised if we see more future xbox games pop up on switch or even playstation.
Unbelievable. Throughout almost the entire last gen most people here and Phil himself said "exclusives are anti-consumer". Now it's the best thing ever and "about selling consoles." When folks say console sales don't matter to Xbox anymore.
Look, I don't care. But even if it's timed no one here seems to see a problem with a licenced third party IP being either exclusive or timed to Xbox yet non-stop complain about FF7R, Spider-Man and KotOR. Hypocrisy at its finest.
@uptownsoul that's true but I don't think the guy can blame the poor quality of the games he's released (graphically & the bugs etc) on them being multi platform
@FreqMode Miles Morales, Ratchet an Clank, GT7, Returnal, Ghost of Tsushima, Uncharted 4.
Upcoming is Forspoken, God of War, Spiderman 2, Wolverine, Knights of the Old Republic, FF 16.
Xbox has Starfield which we’ve seen nothing of, Redfall, a couple of others that i forget. Thing is every PS5 game mentioned is guaranteed to be 10/10. Xbox not so much. Also saying Horizon is crap makes no sense. You mean you don’t like it, sales and reviews say otherwise. It’s subjective. Do you even own a PS5?
Only time will tell if it’s exclusive. Jez said it was awhile back he heard that it wasn’t exclusive and he also said he doesn’t really get leaks from Bethesda. If it comes out to other platforms, then more people get to enjoy it.
Why are people mentioning Knights of the Old Republic as a PS5 exclusive? It’s only a timed exclusive. I think that may be what happens with this as well. Xbox timed exclusive.
@CrazyJF Great take!
@sjbsixpack " every PS5 game mentioned is guaranteed to be 10/10" as a PS5 owner interested in those games, I'd like to believe you... But I'm skeptical 🤨
Fwiw,I haven't played hfw yet. Waiting for sale, and finishing hzd1, but I've head a surprising amount of dissatisfaction on Push that I wouldn't expect for an A list exclusive like that. I'm sure it's good, but may not have lived up to everyone's expectations.
@SplooshDmg ROFL, I was all prepared to snipe about you now being an obnoxious pc master race bro.... And then everything reset to sanity.
@Chaudy 100% and the replies arguing against this prove your point. Unfortunately we are going to see more and more exclusives not less.
@Tharsman in that sense isn't being a PS5 exclusive potentially a huge advantage as not only do you only have to worry about one API but also one specification of hardware too
Glad to hear it. I hate exclusive games. If you're going to compete in a hardware market then artificially limiting competition by having exclusive software too doesn't mean you've got the best console out there. It just hurts consumers.
@NEStalgia history. Every AAA PS exclusive knocks it out the park. I’m 100% confident the upcoming PS exclusives will do the same.
@GADG3Tx87 Whilst I agree in principal, there is a difference. Sony only has the PS Console as its 'ecosystem' and therefore it uses their 'Only on Playstation' titles to try and tempt you into purchasing a PS to get you into their Ecosystem. Yes they may sell 'some' games eventually on PC - once they have served their purpose and now sent out to extract money from the 'open' market.
They aren't going to pay MS to release on their 'locked' system, pay to use their trademarks in advertising the game, lose their 30% 'retailer' profit for games sold on MS's store etc.
MS though has a much 'larger' Ecosystem. The PC, whilst not their own 'hardware', still has the MS Windows Operating System so those are still MS customers. Game Pass is their Platform too so bringing that to 'every' piece of hardware they can is increasing their ecosystems reach.
Both Sony and MS want to entice gamers into their Ecosystem and that's what 'Exclusives' are for from a 'business' perspective. Its about bringing 'consumers' into your ecosystem and its NOT for the 'benefit' of the Consumer - ALL games, whether 1st or 3rd party, indie or AAA etc you buy in that ecosystem is contributing to the Profits of that Company and they can control 'everything' including prices...
MS could also put Prices up on Xbox, the same as Sony. However, that creates even more of a price differential across their ecosystem. The same game on PC being cheaper than Console wouldn't sit right when its all part of the same ecosystem.
You can argue over 'console' Exclusivity as much as you want but they are nothing more than a 'tool' for Platform Holders to encourage you to buy into that ecosystem to spend more money in it and contribute to their Profit margin.
However, due to the fact that MS's ecosystem is NOT just the Console, then its not about selling Consoles. They don't care whether you play on Console, PC, Tablet, Laptop, Mobile or your fridge, you are still playing in their 'ecosystem'. Can't afford a decent gaming PC, no problem,there is console Hardware. Can't get a Series S/X, no problem - Game Pass streaming may have a solution for you on hardware you already own as everyone these days has a mobile phone - maybe not the 'best' option, but still better than having to spend £450 on hardware, £70 on the game etc
@BAMozzy
Whether it's a larger ecosystem or not someone somewhere is being excluded and at its core that's no different any way you look at it, whether it's one system or several people still miss out.
But that's not the point I'm making here, the point I'm making is the hypocrisy from the community. People here and Xbox community in general (and the PS community, not singleing anyone out) complained for an entire generation that exclusives are anti-consumer and need to stop. However when it's in their favour they're all for it while still complaining about such things as FF7 and Spider-Man etc. That's what annoys me, not the concept itself but the double standards.
Those games I mentioned are all third party IP's yet people here are in favour of wanting them only on Xbox and complaining when they don't get something. You can't have it both ways.
Would I like to see an end to exclusivity? Absolutely but it's not going to happen.
What is also annoying is how so many gamers now mention about how much money a corporation has. When did we start caring more about how much money fat suits have in their bank accounts and less about actual games. And the excuse isn't because that provides better games because that isn't always true. Indies have proven that even with less money and income than a huge corporation they can make games that absolutely blow AAA's out of the water.
For the sake of platform warriors so many have forgotten what's important and only care about 'my corporation and logo must have everything and their corporation and logo must have nothing.'
Microsoft may allow games on Steam and mobile but that doesn't take away from the fact that other platforms miss out and in the end while Sony has less platforms to release on both are no different towards the practice. And if gamers don't like it or agree to it, then don't cheer for one and proclaim the other as evil in the same breath. Especially for timed or third parties. Which is exactly what many are doing right here right now. That's the core of what I'm saying.
Btw, PlayStation doesn't put 'Only on PlayStation' on their physical boxes anymore. They stopped doing that after they started porting games to PC. Even the new Horizon and GT7 don't have it on there.
@carlos82 almost everything that goes to PS5 also goes to PC. First party games maybe a bit later (these days) but third party always launch on PC too, meaning there is not as much dev advantage for something like, let’s say Deathloop, being PS5 exclusive, because they still need to push out the PC Direct X version on day one. That is far from “one spec”.
But yes, making a first party game exclusively for that console has those advantages (although PS still developing their games for dual PSs4/PS5 targets). That also holds true for Nintendo.
@GADG3Tx87 I agree in principal, but there is still a Difference as to where you can play certain games on the day of release. With Sony & Nintendo, the only place to play their games is on their own Hardware. If they do come to PC, chances are its months, if not years later, once they have 'served' their Purpose of Selling Hardware to get consumers 'locked' in to their Platform. So whether they have 'only on PS' on the Box or not, the only way to play is by purchasing a Console and the Game. If you wanted to play FH5 at launch, you probably have a device already to play.
Xbox games are often available 'EVERYWHERE', except the Platforms they are 'Blocked' from (Sony/Nintendo). So you can't play FH5 on PS/Switch, but that's the only platforms you can't play on. Even if its not on Steam, if you have a PC, its available to play. Every PS/Switch gamer probably has (or at least access to) some device they could play Xbox on - even use their PS/Switch Pro controllers to play.
The reason Nintendo and Playstation 'miss out' is because they 'block' MS's Game Pass app. There is no reason either couldn't have Xbox Game Pass and stream those games to that hardware. Its not a 'local' port involving a lot of cost to try and recuperate, but you could play Xbox games on PS/Switch if Sony/Nintendo would let their customers have that choice.
I can fully understand why they block MS, but that doesn't change the fact that part of the reason Xbox games are available EVERYWHERE except Sony/Nintendo devices is because Sony/Nintendo block them.
I do agree though that Exclusives are not Consumer friendly - regardless of where they release. Most Multi-platform releases these days don't release on Switch/Mobile/Tablet/low end PC these days either so they obviously 'exclude' some gamers too - yet are 'not' considered Exclusives. Streaming allows far more reach so losing a few million sales on PS5 is offset by gaining all those who can now play on 'other' hardware that the game would never be able to release on Natively. MS isn't prepared to pay Sony to release their game on their hardware, isn't prepared to pay and continue to pay for porting, optimising and supporting the game and not getting as much back as Sony (platform holder and retailer) does being just Publisher/developer. They do have a solution, but that's blocked by Sony.
We all know Exclusives won't end because they are a 'valuable' tool to get you into that Ecosystem for the platform holder. They 'need' them to encourage you to join their platform and that will inevitably lead to 'fanboyism'. They will argue over anything to 'justify' why the spent money on their choice - even if its irrational or hypocritical.
Point is, you have a lot more choice as a Consumer when it comes to Xbox Exclusives and being able to play Day1. You don't have to buy their Hardware - although it may well be the only way to play 'locally' on Console style Hardware, you could play on a Mobile with your DS5 controller if you want. There are numerous options to suit a wide range of Consumers, their budget, their preference etc.
If you want to play Spider-Man, H:FW, GT7 etc and you prefer PC, you have to wait in hope that Sony will release those to PC at some point or spend the Money to buy a Console and the games. With Xbox, you don't need to wait or buy extra hardware. Even if you game on Switch/PS, you could still play Xbox games on Mobile/Tablet/PC/Laptop etc if you wanted on Day 1.
Xbox Consoles 'sell', not because consumers feel they have no choice to buy (or miss out on playing the games they want) but because it fits best with their preference, budget etc. Its not about Console sales - as they are not as 'important' to the growth of your Ecosystem. They are a 'small' part of the 'whole' where as for Sony, the Console is their Ecosystem. Its growth is very dependent on Console Sales. Xbox can reach EVERY gamer in the world - even if that means some gamers may not be able to play on their 'first' choice hardware (PS/Switch), they can still play on other hardware they have...
@BAMozzy
But again, someone still loses out regardless of how many platforms they release on and when, that's the very core of the issue. And I don't mean to offend when I say this as it is nothing against you personally but people try to use those examples to justify exclusivity when at its core it's all the same in one way or another. Someone somewhere missing out.
And all the examples you gave about 'blocking' Microsoft points only to first parties.
Indiana Jones in this example isn't a first party game and coming back to my original point is people here are complaining that a third party IP should be exclusive when also complaining about the exact same situation with FF7 shouldn't be on PlayStation. (To which I agree) it's just how these people are being hypocrites is my main annoyance in this case. Exclusives are going to happen but when KotOR launches as a timed exclusive I can guarantee all these same people will be outraged conveniently forgetting what they said here.
@GADG3Tx87 I don't disagree - but the difference is that fewer (if any) miss out with MS and if anything, more people are not left out because they can stream to devices the games wouldn't ever 'release' on because the hardware can't run it natively. That means even more can play thanks to 'streaming'. Lose say 3-6m sales on PS but could gain 10x that through streaming.
If you own a PS or Switch, then yes, you may not be able to play 'Indiana Jones' (if that is Exclusive) on that specific Hardware, but they have a Mobile/tablet/PC/Laptop or other Game Pass enabled device that they 'could' play on using their 'preferred' controller. OK so its 'not' their 1st choice option, but its still an option for them without needing to go out and spend money on a Console.
It may not allow a few gamers to play on their Playstation/Switch, but then they also don't need to go out and buy another 'Console' either. They could spend $10 on Game Pass and play on their PC/Laptop/Mobile/Tablet. Point is,they don't have to miss out or spend a LOT of money just to play.
Again, I appreciate that its not quite the same as playing on your 'preferred' platform where you may spend the vast majority of your gaming time, but that's also not the same as 'missing out' if you have 'other' choices.
The fact is that despite being 'Exclusive' to MS, they are still much more widely accessible to EVERY gamer, albeit not on some gamers 1st choice platform. Those gamers can still play on devices they probably have and of course can reach millions of gamers who don't have any decent hardware enough to run those games, would never of got to play.
Its that 'mentality' of Xbox vs Playstation that 'bugs' me. I understand why exclusives exist (to get people into that ecosystem only). That games only matter on 'console' and if its not on a Console, then that means they either 'miss out' completely or have to buy the other Console - which is not the case with Xbox.
Their exclusives are literally available to 'EVERYONE' as everyone these days has a mobile so you 'don't' miss out - you only miss out because you 'choose/prefer' not to game that way but you are NOT excluded. On Playstation, you are excluded from games at launch unless you purchase a PS console. You have 'no' choice - even if you have other 'capable' devices. There are 'options' for every gamer - from $10 a month streaming to your 'iOS/Android' Mobile/Tablet, streaming to cheap PC/Laptops you may already have, playing on your 'old gen' XB1 hardware (native or stream), buying a Series S or X, playing natively on 'gaming PC/Laptops' and it looks like they will be bringing a dongle of sorts to turn any display into a Game Pass enabled display - so a LOT more consumer choice.
I can understand why Fanboys are 'hypocritical' - they have to be to 'justify' their choices. Make a big thing of Exclusives when its in their favour and belittle them when its not, It was the same in 2013 when XB1 had more 'exclusives' in the first year so PS4 owners were saying Exclusives didn't matter, the 'better' quality of multi-platform was more beneficial (resolution &/or performance metrics). Then as the Xbox exclusives dried up, that became quantity and quality of PS4 exclusives mattered most - especially when the XB1X released and meant Xbox had the 'better' quality multi-plats. Hypocritical - but expected from Fanboys.
I'm not arguing about Fanboys as we both agree that they are the worst thing about the Gaming community. I was just addressing the comment about Xbox hardware sales not mattering anymore - because that's not important to the Growth of Xbox. Its a fraction of the Xbox ecosystem because Xbox is everywhere (except PS/Switch). Sony's Ecosystem is purely Console based, like Nintendo's - so hardware growth is 'important' to them but not MS. Their growth is not dependent on sales of Series S/X hardware, its also dependent on Game Pass subscriber numbers (regardless of their Platform choice) and of course PC gamers too. They are growing their 'user' base beyond just the Console and enabling 'more' people to play regardless of their budget or opportunity to purchase 'new' hardware meaning far fewer 'miss out' and in fact, don't have to miss out because they probably already have some device they 'could' use - even if its not their preferred choice...
@sjbsixpack I mean I like many of their games but "every game is 11/10 best ever" gets pretty hard into hyperbole. Their old Japanese games were 100% unique with nothing to compare. Sotc etc. Their modern Western games are just modern Western games from modern Western studios just like every other modern Western studio. They're good, polished, absolutely, but nothing particularly unique or exceptional just good content worth playing. It's not a knock, it's just what they've gone with. And wait for all the gaas games...
@NEStalgia but they’re the best at it. You have an incredible game with stunning visuals. But on top of that, the thing that sets it apart is the story and the performance. Acting as good as any movie, believable characters that you love or you hate or you don’t trust. Twist an turns, shocks, upsets, parts that terrify you, parts that upset ya, parts that make ya smile. Games like TLOU 1 an 2, the Uncharted series, God of War, Ghost of Tsushima, Spiderman and Miles, Days gone, etc. Yes, they’re not unique, they’re 3rd person, story driven games like Assassin’s Creed, Hitman, Gears, etc. but they’re the absolute best of their kind. Hence why they sell 20+ million copies.
