Just one title is coming to Xbox Game Pass today, but it's safe to say it's a very worthwhile addition! Atlus' ever-popular JRPG Persona 5 Royal makes its Xbox debut today, October 21st, and it's launching straight into the Game Pass library. Here's a brief introduction to the game:
Persona 5 Royal (Console, PC, Cloud)
Forced to transfer to a high school in Tokyo, the protagonist has a strange dream. “You truly are a prisoner of fate. In the near future, ruin awaits you.” With the goal of “rehabilitation” looming overhead, he must save others from distorted desires by donning the mask of a Phantom Thief.
We've been hands on with Persona 5 this month ahead of its Xbox Game Pass launch, so if your curiosity is piqued, our 10/10 review is well worth a read!

I hope everyone enjoys this masterpiece.
Gonna give it a try purely because it reviews so well. But not sure it's gonna be for me. Not the kinda game I go for usually. Might be one to try on the cloud, save me installing.
@Kaloudz Me too! I've even purchased it twice but ever got round to it. 120+ hours, 200 hours if you really get into it, is just too much on an investment right now.
Going to be trying this on xcloud via steam deck. I will never be able to finish a persona game in front of a TV but the portability of xcloud might be sufficient.
I never thought a 100hr+ game would fly by... but in Persona 5 Royal's case, it did. Now, it's one of my favourite games of all time! Really excited to play it again.
I get that it's not for everyone but well worth a play if you have even a passing interest in JRPGs or games with a strong narrative.
I'm struggling to finish Prodeus which I've played for about 3 hours and suppose to be only 6 hours long. I find that most games get repetitive and boring after the first 2-3 hours unless they have extremely fun Gameplay. I can't imagine playing a turn based game for a 100+ hours. I tried playing Yakuza Like A Dragon and after about 18 hours I gave up because it got boring.
I'm enjoying more long games than short games on Game Pass and I have completed them almost 100%, including optional parts and collectibles. This year, Octopath Traveller, Immortals Fenyx Rising and now Persona 5 Royal, probably after A Plague Tale Requiem, that seems to be short compared to what I've been playing.
My first time round on this title was 160 hours, but maybe only 80 to 100 was gameplay? The rest of it is watching cut scenes with minimal input, which is great cause you love the characters and are itching for the story to unfold, but there were places in the game where the balance felt a skewed.
I remember turning on one night when I had a couple of hours to play and watching story for 2 hours with no chance to actually play!
That said, its still a fantastic game that I'd urge you to try if you haven't already.
Its not my favourite RPG ever, that title still goes to FFVII, which completely floored me when it was first released and made me take two weeks off work to play it (sorry psygnosis), but this title is way up on that list and not to be missed for fans of the genre. In terms of coolness factor, its top of the pile by far!
Really wanted to enjoy this but gave up after about 30 hours (original game). Found it to be way too slow paced and restrictive. Hopefully it gains enough traction on Xbox to see games like Ys, Akiba's Trip and Tokyo Xanadu get released on XB.
Tried this on PS4 when it came out and found like most JRPG's it's just far too disrespectful of the player's time. For those who like it and have the time for it enjoy. Not for me.
I haven't completed a JRPG since Skies of Arcadia (twenty years ago!) so I'm looking forward to trying this.
For those for whom Persona 5 is too long or that can't stand turn based combat, I hope Game Pass gets P5 Strikers at some point. Same characters, but with a different combat style and its a much shorter story. I haven't been much into JRPGs since the PS2 days, but Persona 5 and Strikers both managed to grab and hook me for some reason.
@Kaloudz I never actually finished Witcher 3s second dlc for exactly this reason! Been waiting for the Next-gen upgrade to go back!
@NotoriousWhiz
Same here. I know, graphically, it would be better to buy on steam, but I should save the money... For now.
