Re: Xbox Appears To Be Teasing New Game Pass Reveals For TGA 2023

PanFriedSoup

I love my Series X and all, but Phil Spencer and Microsoft are horrible at this type of hype. They’ll say “just wait and watch the game awards for something amazing”, then announce Gamepass coming to TI-83 calculators or something (which actually would be kind of impressive given that said calculators don’t have internet connectivity)

Re: Talking Point: How Often Do You Actually Buy Xbox Game Pass Games?

PanFriedSoup

I'll double dip at times, for instance when Power Washer Simulator drops on Switch, I'll buy it a second time for the hell of it.

Some GP titles I've owned on PS4/5 such as the Yakuza series, which I love so much I just waited for a sale and purchased them outright, not downloading them once since I knew I'd like to keep them in my library (No PS in my house anymore).

Then there's gems like Prodeus, which had a blast trying out on GP, but buying it on Switch rather than XSX since I'd rather play that with background noise on the TV.

Re: Talking Point: Will CD Projekt Make Another 'Cyberpunk' After The Witcher 4?

PanFriedSoup

Honestly sales figures for CP 2077 were strong and CDPR recouped their costs. The impact the game had releasing in a broken state wouldn't have been that big of an issue if it weren't coupled with the fact that they were revealed to have gnarly crunch expectations. With that being said, aside from the expansion coming out, we also have the Edgerunners anime being produced by Studio Trigger, so I seriously doubt this is the last we see of Cyberpunk; though it's possible that CDPR wouldn't make the next game nor the scope may not be as large. I personally think Rocksteady should pivot from DC and make something in this space.

Re: Elon Musk Says There's 'No Value' In Another Gaming Console

PanFriedSoup

Honestly the only one of the big three that could use new hardware is Nintendo. I love my Switch to death, but when games natively built for it struggle to run on it or look like they have a thin layer of petroleum rubbed on it (looking at you XBC 3), I think it's time for it to have some more horsepower under the hood.

EDIT: I realize that the article is about the introduction on a new console outside of the big three, but my statement still stands.

Re: Review: Forza Horizon 5: Hot Wheels – Back For An Enjoyable Second Lap

PanFriedSoup

@Titntin Yeah, I actually own HW Unleashed, but on Switch, which may be why my experience with it was stifled.

I agree with you in regards to the need for speed in FH5 Hotwheels and having just started it over the weekend, it's just such a stark contrast going from S1 and 2 cars in H5's vanilla game, back to B class vehicles, but at least that provides a nice sense of progression.

There's a part of me that wishes that the first DLC was either famous car chases/races from cinema or even Micro Machines would have been cool. Regardless, More FH5 is always good.

Re: Talking Point: Did The Series X|S Bring You Back To Xbox? If So, How Come?

PanFriedSoup

I've been console agnostic as far back as I remember, but I opted for PS4 and 5 at first because of exclusives. The busier I got with work, the less those exclusives started to matter to me and I just wanted a single console to play backwards compatible games with no hassle, as well as my typical multi-platform releases such as COD or any FromSoftware games. Yes, the PS5 has a better exclusive selection right now, but they just don't match my schedule nor do I want to purchase them if I never get around to playing them. At least with GPU, I was able to enjoy Halo Infinite with my sub and not feel bad about never beating it. Likewise, I loved Forza Horizon 5 so much, I ended up buying it outright.

Re: Phil Spencer's 'No-BS' Approach Convinced Obsidian To Join Xbox

PanFriedSoup

Obsidian: "You know, I saw this really cool guy who always tweeted about how awesome the games on his service was and though, this is a guy who is no BS. Now look at us, we're part of the family, haven't put out anything of real consequence yet, but he keeps talking about how our beta of Grounded is great. Honestly, the pat on the back from our boss is nice and completely lacking BS."
