Long-in-development horror title, Scorn, is coming ever closer. At present, Ebb Software's slimy shooter is expected to release this October, day one on Xbox Game Pass. As development heads towards its final stages, the team has revealed some more juicy details about the game.
Scorn: How Long To Beat?
The developer says that although playtimes will vary; expect Scorn to be around 6-8 hours long for most players. That sounds about right to us for a game of this style, much longer and we'll probably succumb to the slime!
Alongside this update, the team has also detailed a fair few other bits and pieces about the title in its latest Steam post. There's details about the game's artbook and soundtrack in here, alongside an update for those who backed the project on Kickstarter way back when. Oh, and if you're planning to play on PC, here are the recommended specs:
- OS: Windows 10/11
- Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 3600/Intel Core i7-8700
- Memory: 16 GB RAM
- Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 (8 GB)
- DirectX: Version 12
- Storage: 50 GB available space
- Additional Notes: SSD (Solid State Drive)
Ebb Software says to expect more details after Gamescom 2022, which takes place August 24-28. All being well, Scorn will launch on October 21st, 2022.

I have pretty low expectations of this as a game, but am very intrigued by Geiger style art and aesthetic. If it's better than I think all good.
I will play this even though what we’ve been shown so far has been pretty unremarkable. That length is fine, I just hope it’s good enough.
Not every game needs to be an epic journey. This makes me want to play it more.
I am not expecting too much at all from the Game-play - it seems rather 'slow' and plodding without any dialogue or that much of a Narrative plot.
The art-style greatly appeals as a big fan of H.R. Giger. The game seems to be dripping in atmosphere too and some interesting ideas in weaponry and interacting with the world. I do wonder though whether the 'plodding' and 'slow' game-play will help or hinder, add to the tension or frustrate the player.
Reloading, swapping weapons/tools etc seem rather long and slow as well as the movement speed. Makes me wonder why they were so insistent on 60fps - other than being a bit more visually smoother - but a few extra milliseconds of input lag doesn't seem critical when it takes several seconds to load and movement seems sluggish...
I'll try it, just because I can with Game Pass and will make up my OWN mind. I doubt I would of purchased at launch but it would of been on my 'watch' list and if it reviewed well, it would remain there until a sale gives me the opportunity to buy at a 'price' I am willing to 'right off' if I don't enjoy it. None of that matters now as I can play it without any financial risk...
There are Giger-esque elements to the art, but I think it evokes Zdzisław Beksiński more.
Either way, definitely looking forward to this.
Nice runtime for me...gone are the days where I want a massive game...games get to repetive when they are overly long...I'm currently playing Ghost of Tsunami..and I thought it was great..defo better than Horizon ...but I'm starting to find the game tedious 15 hours in
If it wasn't for the artstyle this would not even be on my radar. That's coming from pretty big horror game fan. Lot of people seem to fall into this mindset. But game might turn out to be incredible though.
I am actually excited for this game, especially the art style.
This is one of my most looked forward to games this year. October cannot come quick enough.
Every time a dev posts one of these, I feel like the actual runtime is somewhere between 1/3 to 1/2 shorter than what they report.
At any rate, I'm glad it's coming to Game Pass. This looks like one of those games that's going to look amazing, but actually be a chore to play. I hope I'm proven wrong.
From the trailers shown so far its not looking the best, will still give it a try though
Yeah, it was said that Stray was 8 hours too and I finished that in 3 on my first playthrough, so I’ll take these numbers with a grain of salt. Definitely curious about how Scorn turned out. Not expecting much at all out of it, but hey it’s a bonafide Xbox exclusive. Those are immensely rare!
6-8 hours is longer than your usual Call of Duty campaign. Looking forward to giving it a playthrough.
GD the guy with the apostrophes
I have a strong feeling this will be real good. It looks very polished. I mean, eight years in development - it better be polished. And 6-8 hours sounds perfect.
