Time to reinstall RE2 then
CAPGOD 😍 that showcase was great they've really made my year truly one of the best Devs/publishers in the business
I only ever got halfway through 7 and have been putting off going back to it until this upgrade was released. Can’t wait now for my days off work to get stuck back in!!
Looking forward to going back to 2. Might finally get all of the achievements. If I've got a spare 7 minutes I might do a playthrough of 3.
As of about 20 minutes ago or so, my last-gen versions have yet to upgrade. (East Coast North America)
Well that went from rumor to release real quick.
Nice, Free upgrade aswell, Camcom has been killing it lately..
Imagine Nintendo releasing a free remaster 😂.
I thought Capcom had the best showcase so far.
Jam packed and well presented and exciting!!
The high frame rate versions are nice but is anyone else getting frame drops and stuttering with the RT option? It's pretty bad on RE2.
@Banjo- Haha
What an outlandish idea!
They would up the resolution slightly, include disappointing/no online features and charge us full price for the privilege.
This is great and all for free. This is the kinda stuff Sony like to charge for on 1st party titles.
@kiwi_Gamer1998
Yeah same - the RT implementation isn't even very good anyway, so I turned it off quickly - locked 60fps if you switch off. The screen space reflections look beter in my opinion!
@JetmanUK Exactly. As a Wii U owner, I've been offered tons of ports and "remasters" for Switch. The only problem is that I was asked to pay twice for them 😅 so I skipped them except Mario Kart 8 DX which is not among my favourite Mario Kart games to begin with. If at least they had released them as trilogies for the price of one game, I'd forgive them, for instance, Pikmin trilogy, Metroid Prime trilogy, a Zelda compilation, etc. but no, Skyward Sword, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze, Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros. U, Super Mario 3D World, Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker... All Wii U games very easy to port and a Wii game with a minimal graphical update, sold separately with no cross-buy or discount option at all.
Sony was slightly better than Nintendo last generation with a discounted The Last of Us remaster and an Uncharted trilogy but they have become more like Nintendo this generation, probably because of Jim Ryan: upgrade fees, full-priced ports/remakes...
@Banjo- I'm in the same boat here too, Wii U owner stung by Switch port tax, picked up a couple, will not buy them all!
To think that if they were as good at this as MS I could have all those digital Wii U games on an account that is the same as my Switch account, and back compat or smart delivery upgrades would allow me to play them instead of paying again. How do Nintendo get away with this?!
@JetmanUK I don't know how people still justify that. It's so anti-consumer.
@kiwi_Gamer1998 any idea what sort of frame rate it’s aiming for with RT switched on?
@Fenbops It will be interesting to watch the inevitable Digital Foundry videos about RE 2, 3 and VII and the upgrades just launched so Capcom might iron them out. I have played all of them recently (again) so it might take a while until my next playthroughs but I'm interested in technical analyses. I would detect frame rate differences on my own but not so sure about the graphics because they already looked great!
This makes me want a Code Veronica remake on RE engine even more.
@Banjo- RE engine is pretty great. I’m sure Veronica will follow.
I’m sure DF will do a video. Hopefully soon. I played 2 when it came out but dropped it for some reason. Wouldn’t mind trying again now with the upgrade.
@Fenbops
With my optimistic hat on, I'd have thought Capcom would be aiming for 60 fps with RT but here's what I've been seeing:
RT mode on = 45 fps.
High framerate mode on = 120 fps.
Both modes off = 4K 60 fps.
My friend said that he's seen RT drops to 35 fps when RT is on but he's still testing.
@kiwi_Gamer1998 Weren't 2 and 3 4K 60fps already on Series S/X? And wasn't VII 4K 60fps on Xbox One X? Where's the 4K upgrade? I ask because I'm not sure.

I read that article and it says "The new console updates will now support 4K resolution visuals" so I'm confused. Aren't ray tracing and 120fps modes the only updates?
@kiwi_Gamer1998 oh nice! Thanks. So I assume RT is aiming for 60 but just can’t get there.
@Banjo-
Hi Banjo,
As far as I know (and someone please correct me if I'm giving bad info) but the pre-patch versions of RE2 / RE3 were not at 4K if I'm not mistaken. I think yesterdays patch does 4K / 60 fps now.
I'm guessing that this means they've added ray tracing, upped the resolution to 4K (which was I think 1620 checkboard rendered before) and retained 60 fps.
I could be wrong tho so just sharing my thinking. I think the RE 2/3 games look really pretty with or without RT so I'm playing with RT off for now.
@kiwi_Gamer1998 Thanks for your reply. It probably is like that, they weren't native 4K until now. I understand that you turn ray tracing off if it affects the frame rate. I haven't tried the upgrades yet. I wonder if they will be patched, otherwise my next playthroughs will be in 4K 60fps mode.
@Banjo @Fenbops
Looks like Capcom are reactivating the non-RTX PC versions following overwhelming community feedback about the new versions.

Maybe this might force them to revisit the XBX RT version and maybe patch / improve (or something).
