Xbox boss Phil Spencer is pretty active on Twitter these days, often dropping into all sorts of conversations around gaming generally, not just on the Xbox side of things. Late last week, the Xbox exec replied to PlayStation studio Sucker Punch Productions, congratulating the team on their major anniversary.
Sucker Punch has created some pretty big PlayStation games in the last quarter of a century, including the Sly Cooper and Infamous series', along with the recently released Ghost Of Tsushima. Phil's probably had a try at most of these games during his time in the industry, he's always playing something!
Of course, Sucker Punch is also based in Washington, close to Microsoft HQ, so there's bound to be some real-life crossover there. In any case, it's nice to see Phil continue to be so open and friendly to other folks in the industry!
Which Sucker Punch game would you love to play on Xbox? Let us know in the comments below.

Can't wait for Ghost of Tsushima 2, the first was phenomenal and has set the benchmark sky high for the new ronin and assassins creed games, also I'm hoping they bring back sly cooper in some way, either a remade trilogy or a new game.
Sony should congratulate Xbox on getting Activision deal approved in Brazil and Saudi Arabia
Big fan of Sucker Punch, I really liked Infamous 1 & 2 back on the ps3 and GoT was good. It took the Ubisoft open world formula and improved on it.
I wish Sony would be as friendly as Xbox is to their competitors.
@SplooshDmg the funnest part of Infamous for me was playing as the bad guy π very enjoyable.
Classy as ever P3. Personally didn't love Ghosts of Tsushima as much as others, but it was still a damn good game. Need to go back and finish it. Happy 25th anniversary loved Sly and Infamous before it.
@Chaudy Hilarious and unlikely
GoT basically revitalized the whole "samurai" genre after it lost it's appeal years back.
Great team, great games, and ideally they don't get acquired by MS. MS should strive to level up teams they have to SuckerPunch quality!
@GunValkyrian yes keep dreaming haha
@Cikajovazmaj They're a Sony-owned studio, MS can't acquire them...or, rather Sony already did long ago...
@UltimateOtaku91 @SplooshDmg So much this. SP is amazing at doing Assassin's Creed only better. They've been my favorite PS studio for a long time. It should be bad, they mostly just copy the Ubi formula but it works.
Though I admit I never finished Ghost, it does tend to drag at times as stealth games do, and hanging burning body parts from trees just gets older after a while than the more upbeat inFamous. I want to finish it but you have to be in the right mood for such a savage environment. But why is poor inFamous forgotten in the remake obsession? That series is amazing, and I hold firm that it's a far better superhero series than Insomniac's sleepy, repetitive Spiderman games. I hate how the best superhero series made, inFamous, got sidelined and vanished just because they bought a license to a famous Disney character that prints money. The Spidey games are the definition of mediocrity. And I say that as a big Insomniac fan.
And bring back Sly you cowards!
Guess I'll be that guy: I didn't find Ghost of Tsushima all that enjoyable. Felt like Assassin's Creed Japan, only somewhat better. It bored me to tears and I deleted it after 10-15 hours of play. Then again I'm sick and tired of open world games a'la Ubisoft so that could be a factor in my feelings towards it.
And this is why Xbox is the number one console to me.
@gollumb82 Honestly, I tried it for a few hours and didn't like it at all. I also tried Spider Man and Death Stranding. Didn't like them either. However, Stray was a great game.
@NEStalgia youβre right about it dragging. The last 3rd of Ghost was a slog, I felt it was too long, I can understand why people drop it at certain points. I found the combat satisfying though, hardly ever used stealth as that bores me to death and that game is still a looker, some of the best open world art direction Iβve seen. Call me mad but I enjoyed Fenyx Rising more than GoT π
@Romans12 I finished Stray last night, I enjoyed it and itβs graphics and art are spot on. Gameplay was pretty dull though, Iβd score it about 7/10.
@NEStalgia I thought they just partnered with Sony, but where not an internal team (sort of like Nintendo does). Well, no bueno (not a bug fan of consolidations).
Anyway, you are 100% spot on with inFamous. They are remaking/remastering left and right, stuff that is 5 years old, adding Series/PS5 enhancements to whole last generation, and inFamous is just getting skipped.
@SplooshDmg To be fair, it's historical fiction. There's only so much you can do with the plot since it's a cross of a fictional rand-soldier, actual folklore/legends, and actual recorded history. Technically the real history on the first and second Mongolian invasions of Japan are more interesting in general than anything the game could come up with. The Mongolians showed up with thousands of troops and, carnage of the initial shock attack displayed in the game aside, the Japanese ended up with a few hundred casualties tops and killed or captured the invaders down to the last man. Then a few decades later the Mongolians tried it again, this time with a full armada and tens of thousands of troops. (hint, sequel, hint.) Again they were killed or captured down to the man, their armada sank, some fled, and the Japanese suffered a few dozen casualties tops. The game, needing to be a game, can't capture just how amazingly superior the Samurai really were IRL. Tsushima Island was a backwater outpost of some minor clans. Once the main houses from the mainland got involved it was game over. The "real" game is basically throw it on easy mode, watch the Mogols die, win. The Mogols were brutes accustomed to toppling agrarian cultures and their primitive armies. The were not used to facing clans that live and breathe war as both an art and a cultural lifestyle that live in fortified rocks on an island.
So I can't fault the game for the story. It would have to be an RTS/TBS to capture the real story. And then it would be too easy. Or too hard because it would become Nioh and you'd need real samurai reflexes.
But the mood....severed burned body parts hanging from trees...you can only take that environment so much. Speaking of "the west consumes only sadness." It's all very real, that's what the Mongols actually did, but....watching it daily isn't necessarily fun.
I agree, inFamous is by far the better series (the 3rd one felt rushed and phoned in. Still good, but not close to the first 2, and too repetitive.)
Also agreed that Spiderman is basically inFamous, but worse, with less cool stuff, boring Arkham combat....I honestly just do not like the Spiderman games. They built a cool NYC with a cool web slinging meachanic, but then they forgot to put the rest of the game in. It's really boring, random popup open world stuff that doesn't matter, a bunch of fetch quests, so like inFamous 1 but without the ability to be a product of the 00's. and mashy, repeating, endlessly repeating, Arkham clone combat. Wich was already wearing itself out after half a dozen Arkham games. IMO the game would have been better as an 8 hour cinematic game. That's the "real" parts of the game, the open world was boring filler. I never cared about Spidey at all, I only bought the game because Insomniac made it and I know I love anything Insomniac, but, those games really disappointed me. Maybe they get the next one right. I assume Disney holds them back. But it prints money....
Did this forum change the max text length again? IT made me split this post, and this was way smaller than usual.
@Fenbops Yeah I think for me the thing with Ghost is the mix of the intentionally unpleasant atmosphere, and the nature of a stealth focused game that necessarily drags on a lot with a lot of "attempt, detected, tactical retreat, re-survey, re-try, re-peat." Not a game flaw necessarily but there's a lot of dragging in that process.
Fenyx is my GOTY 2020/21. No question! It may not be the best or most advanced game but gosh darnit everything about it is fun!
But AC Japan will have a hard road to follow that game for authenticity.
@Cikajovazmaj Yeah, Sony bought them after inFamous 1, so they've been a consolidated internal department since inFamous 2. Though I'm not sure if they ever did anything without Sony before that, so they were "independent' in name only, really.
We'd be re-living Empire City, and have 2 new inFamous sequels by now if only it weren't for the darned marvel license.... That pretty much negated the need for their own superhero series when they can just buy access to the biggest ones on Earth. Except theirs was better.
@gollumb82 In comparison to the likes of Sly Cooper and Infamous, Ghosts of Sushi-Bar was about as fun as visiting the DMV.
@Fenbops Man, I agree with you! I beat Fenyx Rising and I really liked it. I still play it from time to time.
Finished GoT, it was nice, but never looked back on that one.
@Chaudy that is too funny and I also would love to see that happen LOL!
Phil Spencer The most personable manager in the game industry, Iβm so sorry For Sony executives Especially Jim Ryan you are jealous this is a factβ¦
@SplooshDmg It's mostly my fault. Ant is at war with me. He's been dropping character limits around me since before you were here and PXB existed....
It's just going to make a mess now though because now I'll be posting 4-5 post streams often.
So many salty fan boys on here itβs hilarious!!! GOT was boring!!! Spiderman was boring!!! Miles was boring!!! Yeah, not a patch on Halo 73, Gears 49 an Forza 32!!! π₯± π₯± π₯± πππ
