@Fiendish-Beaver it's all about Game Pass. It has and it will be even more about GP in the future. If they release more and more games on PS, that's where they'll get most of their sales and the rest of the income will be GP. If you look closely, that's where it looks to be heading.
@Dromosus it's not just the Series S version. It's an ugly game with bad performance. If anyone says otherwise, then they're just fanboying. DF did tests with high end GPU/CPU combos and frame stuttering affected them all, with frame rates well below 60 fps.
Witcher 3, Watch Dogs Legion, AC Valhalla/Odyssey/Origins, Forza Horizon 4/5, GOW4/5, and the list goes on... All those games run at 60 fps on the Series S. MHW can barely hit 30 fps on an ugly engine. They should have used CryEngine. Even Unreal Engine 4 looks and runs better than this. I love Monster Hunter, but this sours the experience on ALL platforms.
Obviously Forza Horizon is king, but this isn't even a jester. It's SOOO ugly. God, it looks like a poor man's Xbox One title. Motorfest is way better than this as well. I can't believe people thought this would rival either one of those titles.
They better fix the upscaling artifacts. God it was bad, and it didn't even look very good. Here's hoping most the work went into performance before release. I'd rather have a lower resolution than that noisy upscaling.
@MeanBeanEgg just an example. I never said IGN was bad. They align with my thoughts most times. Eurogamer, Gamespot, etc. All gave it not just good, but GREAT scores
I've had a really good experience so far. You need to be hardwired for it to be smooth. I have a really fast connection. Yes there are issues here and there, but it's been better than most from what I've seen.
Oof. A lot of reviewers will say you either hate it or love it. I played it on my 85 inch TV with VRR and the framerate is no longer an issue. And other reviewers have said the story, gameplay, and writing are too notch, so... Just look at the metacritic scores. Some are saying it's a masterpiece.
Issues like that with your profile can be fixed sometimes by deleting the profile off of the console storage and downloading the profile from the cloud. This happened a few times with my old 360 and it worked every time.
@abe_hikura I was hoping they'd go the way of Atomic Heart and not even give an option for a "quality mode." I understand a 120 fps mode, but 30 seems just lazy. Especially since a lot of games get patches to get them up to par for a 60 fps option. So in other words, developers should just take a but more time
Avatar has a 40 fps mode on the S. I'm assuming that'll be patched in. I have an X and S, along with a PS5 and I am fortunate to have 120hz displays with all of them. The 40 fps options are really nice. Hellblade 2 should at least get that treatment.
From what I've seen from Digital Foundry on the PS5 version, I'm baffled that passed certification. Terrible input lag and artifacts on performance mode. Weird frame rate targets on balance and quality which makes it feel like it's stuttering. Watch the video and that version is a mess. All the DF guys could do is say, "I don't know what they're trying to do."
Eneba. I have 2 years saved up and I paid roughly $75 for each year. It's not a scam. Just get the worldwide codes. I've been buying from them for years. If that amount of money scares you off, then compare that to purchasing one game or an entire year of hundreds of games.
@RBRTMNZ I would go out on a limb and say the combat is one of my favorites in any game. Top 5 at least. Story is "meh" but it's a good time for 20 hours or so. Plus, there's that huge update in August. I also loved Evil West.
I played all the way through the game. Totally a AA experience, but the combat screams AAA. It runs at a locked 60 fps, even on the Series S. This is one of those games that was released at a time when it was overlooked. I'd say a solid 7.5, but it's more fun than most of the recent AAA releases.
I have found out that games that I've thoroughly enjoyed have been in the 7-8 out of 10. Those games seem to be my bread and butter. If this game is just "decent" I'll take it. I did read some negative things about previews prior to this year, but clearly they've been working hard. Excited. And since it's game pass, I'll try it regardless of reviews.
@BAMozzy it's from the creators of Banner Saga, but it's nothing like those games. I'm not a fan of banner saga at ALL, but a co op beat em up with RPG elements. Hell yeah! This kinda reminds me of Sacred Citadel on steroids.
@cardcrusher29 there it is. The FSR 3 frame generation update was dropped yesterday. Making the experience a whole lot better. It was hovering between 45 and 50 fps and is now mostly a locked 60 on both the Series X and S. And I was talking about consoles.
Just waiting for the FSR 3 frame gen update for Immortals of Aveum. It was presumably coming out in April, but hasn't happened yet. They're taking major boost to the game's performance. I'll believe it when I see it.
With FSR 3.1 coming to Xbox, the performance may improve enough to be worth it. But really, some of the most gorgeous games don't have RT. So why do we NEED it? Especially if it's a forced feature with no performance option. But again, if FSR 3.1 (planned to be used in Indiana Jones) is as advertised, it could be a game changer.
@Friendly not just FPS. It has a bunch of slowdown and technical issues. There are a lot of people that I've seen with buyer's remorse and are waiting until a few patches have come out. We should be concerned about how games run. I truly don't care about 30 fps on consoles, but if you have a $2000 PC setup and it can't run at a higher frame rate, then there's some kind of underlying issue with the optimization.
Pretty ridiculous how rumors get turned into actual news. There's also rumors of a new Xbox, including a new handheld, that will release in 2026. There's absolutely no way MS just backs out of the console side... No way.
With the acquisition and being the largest game development group, this was inevitable. When companies get acquired or split, changes are made. 1900 are gone, but they're also hiring for their studios as well like the Coalition. I'm sure some of these people will find jobs in other areas or studios. It's still hard to hear though.
After that big update to combat, driving, etc, it became a better game. If you look at it as just an action GTA style game, it's decent. If you expect it to be like SR3, you'll be disappointed. It's definitely not a 4 in it's current state. Maybe a 6.5... I know people have strong feelings about how "woke" this game is haha
I enjoyed it. Some of the presentations did feel like too much talking. Gamers want gameplay and details that matter. It wasn't bad by any means. I'm waiting to hear about Towerborne. ActiBlizz announcements will happen in their own time, since it's a butt load of content and I think it'll all be dropped at once on to Game Pass when it's ready. With all these games and Assassin's Creed Red later this year, I may need 3rd job.
@Cherip-the-Ripper absolutely loved Atomic Heart. This was probably my favorite year of gaming, ever. I know that's a big statement, and Atomic Heart was a big reason why it was so awesome.
All of these games seem to be incredibly unique. Flintlock maybe not so much, but MS has a lot of stuff for 2024. Going to be a big year. Thank God. 2023 was also awesome though.
@awp69 that's what I was going to say. In turn, selling more consoles. They sound like they're taking the high road, but they know what this acquisition means. People will switch. Just a matter of how many and when...
@Nalverus I know the reason why it looks like it does. I was just commenting on how the port had framerate dips. This game could be emulated and should still run at 60 fps. My comment was more based on a lazy port. I would have rather waited 6 more months for a proper port with maybe some reworked textures. Upping the resolution makes it look worse.
For such an ugly port, I was surprised to see frame rate dips. It truly looks worse than Monster Hunter World and runs worse as well. It might look fine on the small Switch display, but on an 86 inch TV on the Series X, the environment and character models are so jaggy.
I enjoyed it. We all have to bear in mind that a lot of these MS acquisitions are in their infancy. I think there would have been more gameplay from games like Fable, Avowed, etc, but when companies prematurely release gameplay, they get torn apart. It's smart on Microsoft's part. We know those games are releasing at some point. Do i want gameplay, of course. But i want quality gameplay. Not some thrown together garbage. I'm patient. There are tons of games releasing this year, just chill the hell out.
@ResoluteCustoms my thoughts exactly. It's been a somewhat fun game to experience, but the levels are WAY too linear. I didn't expect any kind of open world, but I always feel like there are no choices at all...
I love being able to decide how long of an experience the game is. AC Odyssey was a perfect example. Many people thought it was too long, but I put in 135 hours and enjoyed every minute. Other games I wouldn't have put that many hours into.
I've tried playing Watch Dogs so many times but hated 30 fps. Now I'll give it a go. I literally can't play anything that's 30 fps now. God I'm spoiled.
Biomutant is the most exciting for me. Mass Effect and Resident Evil will be great games, but you know what you're getting. Biomutant is a brand new IP that looks so promising. It could be absolute garbage, but I've been interested in Biomutant since it was announced.
Forza Horizon 3 needs to be 60 fps. I can't stand 30 for any type of racing game. I've been spoiled with the series x. Every 30 fps game feels sluggish.

80 on metacritic for the Xbox version. How is there such a difference? Stalker has always been an obscure game. Slow and tactical.
