Dragon's Dogma 2 was a huge hit for Capcom earlier this year, but one common community complaint was the game's performance - it was a bit all over the place at launch on pretty much every platform. Well, after multiple patches attempting to address this, the team has added new performance mode options on Xbox Series X and S.
Detailed in the image below, Dragon's Dogma 2 now has dedicated Performance and Graphics modes on both Xbox consoles, and PS5 of course. The target resolution and frame rate varies depending on your system and the chosen mode, so we've included Capcom's chart in this article that fully explains the title's new gameplay options.

It's looking like an Xbox Series X is needed to get close to 60FPS here on Xbox, even though that system's performance mode still appears as though it'll dip below that target. Looking at these figures, we'd say that a variable refresh rate (VRR) display will continue to be very beneficial for Dragon's Dogma 2 on console.
Anyway, if this is tempting you to give Capcom's sprawling RPG another go, the game's new casual mode might be another great way to ease you back in. That mode arrived last month - we'll drop a link to all the detail on this new addition down below.
Does this look a decent improvement for Dragon's Dogma 2 on Xbox? Throw your thoughts down in the comments.

I knew this would come, so I’ve been holding off on this game 🙂
Look forward to seeing the performance reviews. Been holding off.
I have it set to Quality with RT on and it's actually pretty decent with my 120hz TV. Feels a lot like Avatar's 40 fps mode. Towns still suck though.
It’s such a shame games don’t release in this better condition nowadays.
Apart from the very rare ones.
Interesting that Capcom didn't choose to lower the render resolution for Performance Mode on Series S to like 1080p or something.
Unless it looked really bad upscaled from 1080p.

It could be that memory limitations on the S prevented them from hitting 60 fps anyway, so there wasn't a point in lowering the resolution since it wasn't the bottleneck.
You sometimes see that with CPU bound titles as well, they won't have a 60 fps mode because the towns and cities are so CPU intensive that you'll get fps drops no matter the resolution.
@Dangerdude From my understanding of this game, the cities and towns are only issue and that the game runs very well outside of town.
I guess those couple hundred Mhz difference between the Series S and Series X in the CPU is enough to cause a 10fps difference in the Performance Mode.
1440p for series s is very good 👍 developer's seem to be getting more out of the machine lately!
