It's not very often that you see AAA games from recent years getting permanent price drops on the Xbox Store, but that appears to be the case today with Saints Row. This morning, we noticed the standard version of the 2022 game getting a 50% discount, and the Gold Edition going even further with a 56% discount.
This brings the standard Xbox price down to £29.99 / $29.99, and £39.99 / $39.99 for the Gold Edition.
Obviously we've seen the 2022 reboot of Saints Row drop to lower prices than this before as part of various Xbox sales, but it's just very rare for recent AAA games to slash their prices permanently on the digital Xbox store.
It makes more sense when you consider that Saints Row sadly wasn't received very well at all back in 2022 (we gave it a "Poor" 4/10 at the time), and developer Volition ultimately ended up being shut down by Embracer Group back in September. It's hard to look at this one as anything other than a disappointment, despite Volition's best attempts to revive the project with numerous post-launch updates over the course of twelve months.

Now to wait for a 75-80% discount off this new price.
After that big update to combat, driving, etc, it became a better game. If you look at it as just an action GTA style game, it's decent. If you expect it to be like SR3, you'll be disappointed. It's definitely not a 4 in it's current state. Maybe a 6.5... I know people have strong feelings about how "woke" this game is haha
It went like double the price in my region. I finished with Free Play Days. It was okay. Not a Saints Row game but it was okay.
Needs to go down a bit more to be worth it for me it's sad I loved the crazy saints row games the one like a mass effect spoof was so much fun also stopping a nuke missile to aerosmith don't wanna miss a thing was amazing not enough games out to make you laugh no more that are just fun games
I'm playing this one now. I'm like 11 hours in and I think I like it. Definitely underrated at metacritic 61. I paid $20 for it on black friday and feel totally justified at that price so $30 isn't bad.
I did hit one bug twice now where I cannot leave my vehicle and it effectively breaks it as you have to reload to get out of the vechicle. The sad part about the few bugs is that they will never be fixed because the studio no longer exists.
I think this could have been a solid reboot effort if the sequel(s) improved on what they had here which is pretty close already to being a good game.
Still too much. Needs to come down another £29.99 and even then I wouldn’t play this 😂
i wouldn't buy it for 3 woke cents
It’s not a bad game. The characters are the weakest part of the game as they just don’t stand up to the characters in the previous games. I don’t care about all the woke crap that people complain about. I just ignore that stuff and it doesn’t phase me at all.
All in all, it is definitely a step down from previous iterations, but I still had some fun with it. I would probably give it a 6.5 to 7.
Not exactly successful (or good) though. Calling it a AAA game feels generous.
Triple A title?
This was free on Epic Games Store over Christmas, so I'm technically the proud owner of Saints Row on PC. Will I ever play it? Eeeehhhhh 🤷🤷🤷
@Lup that was originally my plan as well but didn't manage to get through it all, quite a bore after the first few hours
@Markatron84 Yeah, I doubled checked my Epic Store library and I redeemed that one, too.
Will take it for 50p. 😂 Well to be honest I wouldn't even play it if it was free for time and quality of game reasons.
Geez... Are we supposed to applaud this price drop lol? I couldn't justify it at $20, let alone $30. I'll wait til it's sitting next to their last critical hit, Agents of Mayhem, with the $5 price tag.
I’ll wait till it comes on Gamepass thanks.
I picked this up pre-owned, I tried to get into it, but I just couldn't. Just felt boring.
@rustyduck Most clueless comment in this entire thread. The mistake was going for Fortnite aesthetics.
@EVIL-C the game has several mistakes , it wasn’t just the aesthetics . i know woke is a trigger word that makes everyone wince but try to look past that
I know “woke” is the go to buzzword everyone likes to throw at this, but that is a lazy and easy way to look at it. This game’s biggest problems are that everything about it is terrible, from characters, story, mechanics, the open-world, the side activities, all of it. Not one thing about this game merits praise. Agents of Mayhem is about $5 and while also not a great game at all is much better than this.
Played this game for free with PS+ and it's even more awful than I thought it would be. Getting through the intro felt like a total chore and the characters are simply awful. None of the past Saints Row fun, charm, or humor was present. Can't think of anything good to say about it.
The word "woke" should be banned from existence for being so cringe. I know some people hate on the game for that reason, but honestly if you look beyond that it is just not a very well made game considering it had a AAA budget of over 100million dollars.
I played through most of it when it was free on PlayStation Plus. I got most of it done and thought I might as well clean up and get the Platinum. Well I now have bug that crashes the game every 30 seconds into gameplay. I load my save, plays fine for 30 seconds and crashes. Every single time. No patch will ever arrive now, and I’m not about to play though 90% of the game again. So I’m done and would never recommend, even for free. Haha.
The game they told the fans if they didn't like it not to buy it 🤣🤣🤣
