Monster Hunter Rise arrived on Xbox Game Pass last month, with Capcom finally bringing this Nintendo Switch launch exclusive over to Xbox consoles almost two years after release. Despite the leap in system power with this port, there have been a few minor problems on Xbox - problems that have now been addressed in a brand-new patch.
Monster Hunter Rise version 10.0.3.0 is out now on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Windows PC, and the update fixes the following issues:
- Occasional framerate drops and audio cutting out
- Guest members involuntarily leaving the Lobby after returning from a quest
- Players becoming stuck on the loading screen
Hopefully, this patch makes for a smoother monster hunting experience on Xbox Game Pass. To us, the game felt pretty smooth at launch anyway, especially in comparison to the Switch version, but any improvements are always welcome!

no issues either, apart from finding hunts to jump into.
doesnt feel like lots playing currently
For such an ugly port, I was surprised to see frame rate dips. It truly looks worse than Monster Hunter World and runs worse as well. It might look fine on the small Switch display, but on an 86 inch TV on the Series X, the environment and character models are so jaggy.
@JustinSane Its a two year old game built for the switch, what was you expecting in the graphics department.
Also, it looks fine. Maybe don't run it at 70% internal resolution.
@Nalverus I know the reason why it looks like it does. I was just commenting on how the port had framerate dips. This game could be emulated and should still run at 60 fps. My comment was more based on a lazy port. I would have rather waited 6 more months for a proper port with maybe some reworked textures. Upping the resolution makes it look worse.
@JustinSane That is not what you said but i'm going to go with this anyway.
What we got was the steam version. We don't have all options PC has available (for obvious reasons), but this is very similar to what PC is. This IS the best we could have gotten. This actually is using higher res textures, there is even a toggle for us to use them or not on console.
This is as good as its going to get. Doesn't make it lazy, this is just a port of the final product that already existed for years. Rise has been effectively complete for over a year now on switch with an expansion. There was never a chance for it looking any better than it does now.
Wait for the next release for something different. They may or may not be working on it.
edit: also 5 or so frame difference at 60 or 120 is literally negligable. if this was 30, yeah that'd be bad. If the framerate isn't tied to the engine, you are literally never going to notice unless someone tells you.
edit 2: (oh god that was a bad edit.)
edit 3: sunbreak isn't a year old its 7 months, my brain. game still complete though.
@Nalverus honestly I don’t mind that it’s an upscaled Switch game for lack of better terminology. There are so many toggle options and “filters”, if you can’t make the game work for you, I feel like you’re not trying.
@mousieone I feel like you're replying to the wrong person about this lol. Wasn't complaining, was explaining to the other one who was complaining.
Its all honestly moot to me. basing a game off graphics has never settled with me in any way.
@Nalverus Actually, I was agreeing with you. However I was suggesting you’re wasting your time explaining it.
@JustinSane I totally get your point, simply jumping to the games defence doesnt help or inform anyone. It IS ugly and looks last gen at best. Considering its clearly not uttilising the power under the hood, its baffling how this drops frames at all, so Id agree with you that the port appears lazy at best.
I actually tried this game yesterday, but it wasnt long before I deleted it. Partially cause it looks awful, and partially as it still has some of the jank MH games have suffered from for many years. The last one I trully enjoyed was on psp despite its limitations. If you need a MH fix now and want it on a current machine, MH world is a better bet in my opinion. I do appreciate there are some who will get a lot of fun from this title however it looks, but thats not me.
