We're assuming most Pure Xbox readers aren't using their Xbox 360 consoles anymore, but just in case you are, you may have noticed over the past few days that you've been struggling to sign into the Xbox Live servers.
The Xbox 360 subreddit has been filled with players complaining about this recently, sharing error messages that they've been getting and questioning what the issue is. Here's a look at just a couple of examples:
Now, as mentioned, this is apparently a server issue on Microsoft's end, as evidenced by the XBLStatus website which is regularly indicating that the "System Challenge" is "Inoperational". We'll be honest, we have no idea what that means, but clearly something needs fixing - and hopefully Microsoft is trying to solve it as we speak.
There are some already speculating that perhaps this means the beginning of the end for the Xbox 360 servers, but hopefully that's not the case. Instead, it probably just indicates that Microsoft isn't putting much of a focus on them these days, which sadly makes sense. Nevertheless, let's hope this problem gets resolved sooner rather than later.

Issues like that with your profile can be fixed sometimes by deleting the profile off of the console storage and downloading the profile from the cloud. This happened a few times with my old 360 and it worked every time.
Yeah, I had seen that error code a couple times in the past couple months. Sort of a bummer, but I mean, I got years and years out of the 360, so I wasn’t too mad. Most of the games it happened on I have downloaded to the Series S too, so nothing earth shattering.
@somnambulance Yea, but the issue here is the longevity of access to the content you have purchased. If we ever lose full access to the servers I might not ever buy a game digitally again.

It’s amazing that Xbox 360 servers are still up to be honest since the online store shut down recently.
@Ken_Kaniff Given the way consoles are trending, I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re fully digital in a generation or two. I haven’t had any issues with anything I play regularly. I pray the 360 version of Catan will remain available forever. I know there’s newer versions and I own them, but I just like that one best.
Half the services don't work on the 360 since they closed the store. The Movie's and TV app has gotten steadily worse for years. It doesn't work at all now.
@Techno92LFC i hope they stay up, too many digital games to redownload.
They definitely need to maintain this. Everyone should have access to redownload games they own, at the very bare minimum
@Ken_Kaniff Don't the physical discs need to contact the servers anyway for DRM?
I think if the servers are screwed digital and disc games are affected....
If someone knows better than that, please educate me!
