@GASEOUS Omg, thank you so much. I tried looking up a youtube video and my eyes glazed over in about 30 seconds. lol. It's almost as bad as trying to figure out all the different versions of Star Wars. I'm a little bummed out that Ryu is the only playable character, but I like him enough that I won't mind too much. I'll pick up black and II when I get home. Thank you again.
@NishimuraX "The flexibility and versatility" is definitely a good point. That's why I'm so curious about the rumors that Xbox is working on some kind of Steam connectivity. Although I'll also admit that what we get may end up being disappointing compared to what we were hoping. lol.
I have Ninja Gaiden 3 from Games with Gold back in the day and was thinking of trying it out and getting into the series. Would it be worth it to pick up Ninja Gaiden Black and Ninja Gaiden II? Or would it be better to get the Ninja Gaiden Master Collection?
@Banjo- Right?!? I think a lot of people who play on PC forget that it's impossible to build a computer with the same specs as a console for the same price.
Also, after messing around with a Steam Deck I can say that I love how console games just work. Nothing fancy, or having to mess around with settings, or hope that someone has made a mod to fix an issue.
@Banjo- Yeah, it's kind of crazy. Two months ago I thought Xbox was dead. Now they're the easiest and one of the cheapest ways to get into gaming (Series S with Gamepass Standard).
Also, I'm still surprised that they released South of Midnight for only 40 dollars.
I was holding off checking the store so I could be surprised when the Spring Sale started. And now I'm finding out that most of the best deals are ending in a couple of hours. Isn't the point of a "preview" to have some of the games that will be on sale be available early but still be available during the event? Who decided that they are set to leave the day it starts?
I got banned from a friend's Xbox over this game. lol. He wanted me to try an Elder Scroll's game and I spent the 1st hour trying to get my face just right. And then another hour trying to find a good dress.
Congratulations PureXbox!!
Oh man, I don't know how you're able to stay quiet with behind the scenes information. lol.
I've been on a dark/horror gaming kick lately so Agni has my interest (but they all look good).
I'm not too worried about it. Most of these awards (Academy, Emmy etc) are more about what the committee happen to like at any given moment rather than a comprehensive analysis of which games (or movies or tv shows etc) have excelled above their peers.
oh yeah!!!! So hyped for this game. And it's only 40 dollars! After the disasterous Nintendo Direct this week it's crazy to see how Xbox treats their games. Hellblade 2 was only 50 dollars!
I can't wait to see all the crazy bosses (even if they're a bit generic in gameplay).
@Rog-X Yeah, I just found out about that a little while ago. And considering that Nintendo games rarely if ever drop in price this is a huge issue. The more I find out about this direct the less excited I am about the Switch.
@BacklogBrad I agree. Video game consoles are expensive and not exactly impulse buys. All the early adopters are going to be fans and as such will know the difference between a Wii and a Wii U. If anyone bothered to look at how Wii games (not the console, just the games) performed it's easy to see that 3rd party developers mostly released shovel ware and casual games. Not to mention that Nintendo of America actively tried to prevent some of the more hardcore games like Pandora's Tower and Fatal Frame from coming to the west. Wii U failed for the reason you said. They convinced non-gamers to pick one up, while losing the hardcore gamers to Xbox and Playstation.
There's like no information for the games outside of the direct. We don't know if it includes a season pass or is just the base game. Also, there are rumors that physical games will cost more than digital and everyone is freaking out but they're just rumors. We should at least wait until official prices start coming out.
On the flip side, Xbox physical discs are cheaper than ever. Too bad Xbox has given up on disc drives.
This is the make or break moment for Asus XBox Handheld. Nintendo has an unbeatable brand with games and characters loved all over the world.
Steam Deck has a 399.99 model that can play all the same games that their most expensive Steam Deck model can.
At this point everything will depend on their price unless Xbox suddenly comes out with a surprise OS that can play our console collections.
@avoidercat Right? It's so annoying. Just a quick look at Pushsquare shows half a dozen articles on games that PureXbox could be writing about.
Like, how come there is no mention of Sabrina Carpenter coming to Fortnite or Dead By Daylight getting a Tokyo Ghoul chapter? Since Batman Arkham Knight is coming to Gamepass Core, why not a retrospective article on the Arkham games? Silent Hill F is announced, why not do an article on SH HD collection?
How come there isn't an article of how the Tomb Raider amazon show is having production problems? There are so many video game news happening all the time that include Xbox. It's so weird to read articles where Xbox is excluded.
This is a false equivalency. It's like buying a switch game that has just a code inside, only worse because you have to keep using the cartridge. But if you look at switch games that do this it's only a small percentage (and mostly Ubisoft, and WB games), and Nintendo doesn't do this for their own games.
Xbox wanted to do this with every single game, and it wasn't the only thing they wanted to do that got fans mad. Xbox deserved the backlash it got. With Nintendo, I think this is more of a compromise because 3rd party developers don't know how to optimize games anymore and game sizes can get up to 100 GB.
@Kaloudz Right? Like, in Halo 3, the second half of the game barely has anything to do with the first half. And everyone kept telling me about how great a relationship John and Cortana had, so when I finished Halo 4 I was devastated and thought, wow, what a tragic but perfect way to end a love story. And then I went back and there is nothing(!!) in the original 3 games! Halo 1 I thought they had some fun moments and came across as good partners who had worked for a long time together. But Halo 2, she had more chemistry with Sgt Johnson, and then in 3 she was just a prop. I was so angry.
*edit: Oh, it's like Nightreign. nevermind. lol. I hope I'll play it one day but it's no longer a must play. I prefer the desolate lonely experiences that a traditional FromSoftware game gives.
Call me a conspiracy theorist but I think they're doing some secret behind the scene stuff with consolidating our collections across different platforms... and maybe steam stuff...
@Kaloudz OMG! Thank you!! I have so many issues with Halo 3's story and how it treated Cortana. I could write a whole thread on why it's bad, but it would probably sound like a Mary Sue article. lol.
Halo 4 was my first so I'm biased towards it. Imo though Halo 5 has by far the worst absolute none-sense story breaking plot out of all the Halo games and ruined Halo so badly that even Infinite couldn't save it. Warzone Firefight was fantastic though.
Normally that meme makes me laugh but here it just annoys me. We still have no idea what plans Xbox has, everything is a rumor, and nothing is confirmed. I'm worried they're walking into another ABK sized minefield.
OMG!!! Seriously? As someone who pared back to core to save money, this is amazing!! I was starting to worry that we were being forgotten. Tunic is such an amazing game. I can't wait to play it again.
Ugh, waiting for Perfect Dark is such a slog. I wish she wasn't revealed so long ago. Something I'm really happy about "current" Xbox is that they understand not to show a game to early in development, and even shadow dropping games. Other companies should take notice and do the same (looking at you Metroid Prime 4, and everything Sony).
Still haven't played the first one after swearing off Harry Potter. But I have heard it's fun, and tbh, with everything trying hard to be "live service"-lite, I can respect a developer that says no, this is the game, this is the experience we wanted players to have, and this is the ending we want. And now we're moving to a new game.
Don't buy Ubisoft! They have a corporate ethos that will prevent them from making any meaningful changes and will keep doing what they are doing right now.
Instead, buy Prince of Persia and Beyond Good and Evil!! Leave the rest behind.
@TheGameThrifter Lol, that's true. But I guess I'm still hoping that the next XBox has a really cool operating system that can not only play our past Xbox games, but also be open enough to install Steam games.
But tbh, I don't know much about computers, which is why I still play on consoles. lol. 😅
I think they could, but tbh it wouldn't really matter. Everyone is talking about how we can finally play Playstation games. Sony doesn't even have that many games on Steam to begin with.
The REAL!!! benefit to being able to play Steam games is that we don't have to wait for 3rd party exclusivity to end. Silent Hill 2, Final Fantasy VII Remake and XVI, Death Stranding 2, Stellar Blade, these will all be playable on Xbox. I don't know why everyone is so obsessed with Sony when we will be able to enjoy Capcom, Konami, Square Enix, and the tons and tons and tons of studios that are going to be coming out of China and South Korea.
Until we hear more about their future hardware plans the smart thing to do is to buy only games that have the "play anywhere" feature. So this spring sale will feel a little lackluster.
I would sub for a month and try to 100% as many games as possible, but then that would be it for me. lol. There aren't too many Ubisoft games I like but if someone is a huge Assassin's Creed fan then I think it may be worth it.

That being said, the two things against it were the gross monetization of dlc (any future Life is Strange games I'm only going to buy on discount) and you can tell the developers who made this game were not fans of the original. There are so many narrative threads you could build off of Max's story, even if you're writing a story that takes place long after her and Chloe's relationship ended. Fallout
Doom
Gears of War
Wolfenstein
Halo
the upcoming Perfect Dark (which I'm excited for) etc

Console: Series X (example X2, X3 etc etc)
Handheld: Series S (example S1, S2 etc etc)
Re: Report: Xbox Handheld For 2025 Being Made By ASUS, Will Feature Console-Like Interface
This sounds great, but I don't know how it will succeed unless it has a competitive price point. With Nintendo releasing Switch 2 in a couple months, and the Steam Deck being the go-to handheld for handheld PC's, this is going to have a hard time getting any momentum.
