Sony 2023 - “WHAaaH It’s not fair!! I want everything to myself! Mommy (or CMA rather) Xbox is bullying me! Make them go away!”

This, the company that’s already got a large lead over Xbox in console sales this generation and likely always will. Sad really.

By Gosh it’s been a bit of a downer the last few days, Price increases making people go mad now Microsoft officially labelling themselves the ‘loser’ brand of consoles.

Well I still love you Xbox, don’t give a hoot about ‘console war’ winners. I love my Series X, love my gamepass stacked to 2026, love that Starfield and new Fable are on the way!

This increase was always going to happen at some point, I just question the timing. GP had a weak 2022, Redfall debacle this year.. ect.
You think the smarter idea would have been to keep the Xbox Series X prices and game pass cost the same until after both Forza Motorsport and Starfield had launched, go for a big push at Christmas using these titles. Then, early next year, do the rise when people might be more forgiving on the back of these two recent major (better?) titles, with more first party coming early 2024.

Just glad I used the Xbox gold thing recently to get Gamepass until 2026. Not sure how long they will keep that loophole open with the gamepass rise now.

On Xbox I’m trying out the Return to Jurassic Park DLC for JW evolution, this month is JP’s 30th anniversary after all! Also having a bash at some online Mario Kart 8 on switch.
Not picking up tears of the kingdom until I finish BotW… a task I’ve been meaning to complete for the last year lol.

A free trial is awesome news, been trying to decide between this and Planet coaster for a purchase.

Also to Tintin, many thanks for your work at Bullfrog, I must have spent hundreds of hours on Theme Park World as a child, cheers for helping develop an awesome game!

My favourite In terms of true horror atmosphere, original RE3 for me.

In terms of gameplay and action, RE4, any version.

Could not agree with you more Dezzy, the amount of jank gaming launches this past two years is becoming a sad joke. Xbox and Bethesda need to get this right. (Starfield that is)

It's a bonkers situation isn't it? I'm sure my most anticipated Xbox game (Fable) will be ready by around 2026 at this rate. No matter, now discovering the joys of the Switch in the meantime.

I agree, too early and too much of the same as 4, though I still enjoy my time with it. Horizon needs a long rest and to come back eventually with much fresher ideas.

Xbox really want gamepass on Playstation don't they.
The sooner they don't have to support xbox hardware anymore the happier they will be. Pity, I think they built a fine machine in Series X, be nice for them to promote it more... but no, better to have headlines gushing over their rivals efforts every chance they get. The same rivals that screw over Xbox every chance they get. Fair play, Sony wants to be top dog, and act accordingly.

Really looking forward to seeing how Ragnarok's story plays out.

Nothing to see here, just another 'peek' at the rotten core of modern gaming. Now I must get back to championing one corporations gaming division over their rivals on social media, I must be good consumer.

Never thought this would become a reality, more than ready for some AoE goodness on console, given my PC is all but dead.

Slightly disheartening, but you're likely very correct. I just hope it's a true AAA masterpiece whenever it does turn up, and I have much hope Playground will not disappoint on that.

I recall tech experts, finance experts, gaming experts, experts galore crowing on about how the PS4/Xbox One era had gone on for far too long and it was time to leave them well behind - this in the run up to PS5, Series X. Yet here we are two years into next gen and -barely- any games to be found on said next gen that aren't still being released on, or actively developed for old gen as well. Next Gen just simply being the machines that run said games a bit better, look nicer. Neither next gen machine pushing the limits of what they can really do with all that hardware under the shells.

I once found you too negative on your old gen stance, but after TWO years since the 2020 launches, I must concede... you are right.

It's as if listening to feedback constructively, putting some real effort in quality control yields good results. Who would have thought? Credit where it is due, well done Infinity Ward, looking forward to playing my first COD in 6 years.

The amount of games that have released in a mess and needing months of patches to fix (if they ever get fixed) in these past two years has become a joke and it seems to be getting worse.

I can't believe game creators who work (and crunch) and try their hardest to make a game to the best of their skills can be enjoying seeing the results of their individual labour published in such sorry states. Whoever green lights these unfinished unready products because of, lets face it, pure greed needs a slap. They screw over not just gamers but many passionate developers too. What a sorry state AAA is in.

I hated driving games until I tried FH4. It made be a believer. Hyped as heck for FH5.

Bit of a slog to watch tbh, and I only caught the last 50mins. Get the impression those twitch 'celebs' would cheer on and champion just about any old shovelware. Seems so false to me.

I just can't compute this, Sony's big sport franchise game I wanted to try for years on PlayStation 4 (but there was always other games my wallet prioritized more) is now day One Game Pass?? I mean wow, I / we finally get to try it without spending a penny on it, but if I was still a purely PlayStation guy I'd be once again expected to fork out some serious notes if I wanted to play it day one? I agree with several posters here, there must be some rather radical discussions going on behind the scenes of these companies right now.

Game Pass really is incredible.

Well stated, Phil has simply been astounding in what he has done. I never thought Xbox would be turned around to such a degree after Don Mattrick and co destroyed the momentum that had been gained in the 360 era. More power to him!

Skyrim! Loved it without mods, love it even more with mods. Enaisiaion is the biz.

Loving every moment of you being back, it's what the Xbox community needed (imho) for so long, a place to call home gaming news wise. Long may you continue and congrats on a fine first year and all the great Xbox news and stories you have brought us.

Happy New Year Team pX, your return last year was such a welcome one for me and many others and I love the community that has since taken root here. Wishing you and all the purexbox community great things in 2021.

Overall a decent year for Xbox, definitely feels the brand is on the up after the wilderness years of the xbox one. Here's to more crazy studio acquisitions, amirite?
