It's time for another round of Pick One! This week, to celebrate the huge Xbox Bethesda acquisition, we're taking a look at eight specific Bethesda games - picking out just one game from each series to vote on. We know, we're cruel!
Which is your favourite? Remember, you can only pick one!
Let's take a look at what we're working with:
Dishonored 2
Reprise your role as a supernatural assassin in Dishonored 2 – the follow up to Arkane Studio's first-person action blockbuster and winner of more than 100 'Game of the Year' awards, Dishonored. Play your way in a world where mysticism and industry collide. How will you combine your character's unique set of powers, weapons and gadgets to eliminate your enemies?
DOOM Eternal
Hell’s armies have invaded Earth. Become the Slayer in an epic single-player campaign to conquer demons across dimensions and stop the final destruction of humanity. The only thing they fear... is you.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Winner of more than 200 Game of the Year Awards, the Skyrim Special Edition includes the game and add-ons with all-new features like remastered art and effects, volumetric god rays, dynamic depth of field, and more. Also bring the power of mods to consoles. New quests, environments, characters, dialogue, armor, weapons and more – with Mods, there are no limits to what you can experience.
Fallout 4
Fallout 4 is the studio’s most ambitious game ever and the next generation of open-world gaming. As the sole survivor of Vault 111, you enter a world destroyed by nuclear war. Only you can rebuild and determine the fate of the Wasteland. Welcome home.
Prey
In Prey, you awaken aboard Talos I, a space station orbiting the moon in the year 2032. You are the key subject of an experiment meant to alter humanity forever – but things have gone terribly wrong. The space station has been overrun by hostile aliens and you are now being hunted. As you dig into the dark secrets of Talos I and your own past, you must survive using the tools found on the station, your wits, weapons, and mind-bending abilities.
RAGE 2
Dive headfirst into a dystopian world devoid of society, law, and order. RAGE 2 brings together two studio powerhouses – Avalanche Studios, masters of open world insanity, and id Software, creators of the first-person shooter – to deliver a carnival of carnage where you can go anywhere, shoot anything, and explode everything.
The Evil Within 2
Detective Sebastian Castellanos has lost everything, including his daughter, Lily. To save her, he must descend into the nightmarish world of STEM. Horrifying threats emerge from every corner, and he must rely on his wits to survive. For his one chance at redemption, the only way out is in.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus
America, 1961. The assassination of Nazi General Deathshead was a short-lived victory. The Nazis maintain their stranglehold on the world. You are BJ Blazkowicz, aka “Terror-Billy,” member of the Resistance, scourge of the Nazi empire, and humanity’s last hope for liberty. Only you have the guns and gumption to return stateside, kill every Nazi in sight, and spark the second American Revolution.

Gotta give it to Doom.
I mean it's gotta be Skyrim right?
Nice to see Wolfenstein getting a decent share of the votes. One of my all time favorite shooters with one of the most off the wall stories in gaming !
"Now, I'm not saying it was the aliens...but it was the F#£#ing Aliens man" Ahh Super Spesh
Im gonna be stunning and brave and say fallout 76.... Jking Dishonored 2 gets my vote
Nearly went with dishonoured 2 but went with the evil within 2 in the end, one of the best survival horror games last gen second to resident evil 7, I would suggest people try the evil within over the medium
skyrim and fallout were just too buggy to enjoy and Doom just felt like an arcade game with a non existent story.
Doom (2016) but it's not on the list for some reason, definitely the best modern fps I've played
It was between Doom Eternal and Dishonored 2; so rough.
@carlos82 A fellow person of culture, I see!
And New Order was better too. I guess they're only putting the most recent full release in a franchise?
I almost said Fallout New Vegas but I forgot that wasn't Bethesda. So I will go with Fallout 3.
@Tasuki if we're ruling out games Bethesda (the studio) didn't develop then that removes most of this list
@Thaliard hahaha I'll also add Fallout New Vegas, Dishonoured 1 and I quite like the old Prey, though I haven't played much of the new one
Was enjoying Fallout 4 yesterday until progression slammed to a halt when the robot wouldn’t talk to me. An old bug too. Disappointing.
I'm going to say evil within 2. Played it on ps but looking forward to playing it with game pass again. Doom would be my next choice
Skyrim for me. A classic. Not many games I’ve played through multiple times when they take so much time to play through but Skyrim is one of them.
They really have made so many great games, I couldn't pick one to vote for... I would say fallout... But its 4 and I haven't finished it because the load times killed it for me, I do plan to go back soon on the series x... But I played the hell out of 3 and néw Vegas...
Can't wait for 5 one day
I only played 3 on this list, Skyrim, Prey, and FO4. Skyrim is great however my pick is FO4. With FO4 i really enjoy building and maintaining the settlements. Building and maintaining a functioning Sanctuary with a population of 25+ is for me a game in itself.
I picked Skyrim due to the sheer amount of hours I’ve put into it on the 360, then Xbox One, and also the Switch. Still finding new quests and secrets on every play through.
There’s a few on the list there that I haven’t spent as much time with, so I’m currently giving Prey a run through. Really enjoying it so far, slightly different take on a FPS with an awesome setting which is quite refreshing.
When Skyrim came out 11:11:11, it was when Bethesda was at its best (so far) in my opinion. They perfected the formula they had been working on since Morrowind, and really affected every open world game that came out after.
I think they may even still have better days ahead, as long as they steer away from games as a service, and focus on refining what they do best, as well as innovating like they always have.
@carlos82 I've always meant to go back to the new Prey. The twist in the first hour sold me on it; I don't quite know why I fell off of it.
Fallout 4 or Wolfenstein 2. I loved New Vegas, but about half way through the game I got the cache glitch that caused my 360 to crash to desktop every half hour or so. I’d have to reload the game 5-10 times a day. I powered through, but it definitely strongly impacted my playthrough in a negative way.
Doom all the way for me. 2016 one
Downloading Elite Dangerous right now. Really looking forward to see what this is like. Played the original on Amstrad to death.
I had to vote for Prey.
I think just in general I would have picked Elder Scrolls. It's been the Franchise that really got me to love Bethesda, and even though Skyrim isn't my favourite entry, I've bought it on about 6 different platforms and play it through every year or so (especially during those snowy years).
But Prey and Evil Within are fantastic IPs, and do not get the attention they deserve.
@Richnj I did the same thing with the same feelings. Fallout and Elder Scrolls are incredible franchises but they get tons of attention and admiration. Prey feels like it went under the radar and I was blown away by how good it was.
I need an RTCW remake
That's not even close. Skyrim was one of the biggest games in history.
Skyrim! Loved it without mods, love it even more with mods. Enaisiaion is the biz.
Prey is definitely underatted, my favourite of these by a long shot. Good size, not too big and just in general very good.
@Bmartin001 Why? Skyrim was awful and half ar*sed, and filled to the brim with bugs. Storyline wasn't exactly great either. Only reason it survived is because when Bethesda abandoned it, the mod community had to save it. Like when a baby gets abandoned at a doorstep and its up to whoever gets it to raise it? Exactly like that.
Went for The Evil Within 2. The underdog it seems. I hope we get a 3rd installment.
