Xbox Series X is in demand around the globe, and even in Japan, there have been shortages due to the pandemic and various other factors in play. Game Pass and xCloud have also increased the system's popularity and Halo Infinite is just around the corner, too.
Taking this into account, it seems the legendary Super Smash Bros. Ultimate director, Masahiro Sakurai, has been able to finally get his hands on one - uploading the following image of his brand new Xbox Series X, alongside his cat, Fukura. The Xbox Twitter account even gave him an official welcome.
"One year after its release, I finally bought it ...! It may be affected by Corona, but it will continue to be difficult to obtain game consoles."
Xbox has enjoyed a lot of success in recent times within Japan. Microsoft has mentioned how the country is the fastest-growing region for the platform, and earlier this week it was revealed Xbox Series X|S sales have already surpassed lifetime Xbox One sales.
Phil Spencer has also spoken about expanding Xbox's reach within this region, so if Sakurai's finally on board - the company's efforts must be paying off!

Spontaneous Sakurai on Twitter: "How easy it would be to develop games for this and not for Tegra X1.. (Ooops, I'm going to erase this)".
Okay, this story actually seems relevant here. Hope he likes his XSX as much as I have. It's been a great console in the weekend I've owned one.
@Zag_Man
Knew they had been well recieved but didn't know they had been scoring that well, brilliant to see that. Defo changed days at Xbox for the better!
BANJO IN SMASH CONFIR....oh....nvm...
I have no idea how this man can overwork himself to the point of working with an IV drip while food-poisoned, and still have time to be a multi platform gamer....
He plays so many games: Steam, PS5, Xbox, and of course on Nintendo, where he also plays the Halo series.
You won't find a more studious developer than him.
One interesting bit about this is a LOT of Japanese gamers pay attention to what Sakurai says. More importantly a LOT of Japanese devs pay attention to what Sakrai says. He's not just "the Smash Guy" but a rockstar developer like Carmack or Molyneaux.... Ok maybe not Molyneaux. He writes a lot of industry pieces etc. Sakurai posting excitedly about Xbox may have subtle to not so subtle ripples in the industry as others in Japan take note. Honestly, nothing Phil has done to give Xbox appeal in , and to Japanese developers more importantly, could come close in reach or effect to Sakurai tweeting excitedly about it.
