@DreamlandGem I'm a disrepectful guy to disprespectful users. I don't see why I need to extend courtesy to the people that are willing to sling barbs and insults to someone just because they worked on a game that they didn't consider good. and not even the aspects of the game that swayed them.
What a joke. Protect the commentor's feefee's but not the game developer you're even making the article for.
I will say my modern day AAA exception IS Insomniac's Spider-Man franchise.
Call me nostalgic for my comic book reading days, playing the old Spider-Man games, or my investment in the IP over various forms of media from movies, cartoons, and even in print literature, I have an eternal soft spot for Spidey, and my gripes with how modern PS has been handled and how they've spat on a good majority of the legacy of Playstation I care about...i'm a Spidey stan and Insomniac has done good work there.
@Snake_V5 Buddy, it's not about systems on this. The best PS5 game is Returnal. Because it's actually a fun and entertaining game to play. I find open world games for the most part to be tedious, and don't find any of the games you listed to be fun to play.
It isn't about systems, it's about indies and AA being what I prefer and AAA being 90% boring tripe in my eyes.
@Snake_V5 No, i'm just over open world self serious 'AAA' BS that the mainstream peddles, and never found The Last of Us or Horizon compelling. It's the equivalent of MCU crap but for videogames in my eyes.
@Snake_V5 "GOW, Horizon, Uncharted, The Last of Us for Xbox but you don't see that ever. Any one of those games is better than most Xbox exclusives any day of the week"
See, i'd take Pentiment, Psychonauts 2, and Hi-Fi Rush over any of the games you listed any day of the week.
Mostly care about seeing what Double Fine is cooking up. Hopefully something cool.
Couldn't give less of a s*** about Starfield or Forza Motorsport, so those are lost causes off the bat. I do want to see some surprises for sure, Hi-Fi Rush is still the best thing Xbox has put out since Psychonauts 2 imo, and that came out of nowhere.
Said it before, will say it again now, mediocrity is the default state of modern AAA gaming, and that goes for Sony’s darlings such as Last of Us and the rebooted God of War series.
If you’re so shallow a gamer that all you care about is AAA, I don’t think Xbox is for you.
I hope Hi-Fi Rush didn't fail. I did end up buying the full deluxe edition of the game shortly after release and beating it on gamepass, and the cosmetic DLC for the boss themed costumes about a week or two ago, and would still double dip for a nice physical CE. This game was the injection shot that modern game development DESPERATELY needs in the sea of mediocre AAA games that get put on a pedestal because 'muh story and graphics'. Only Silksong stands a chance of topping it as my GOTY.
@Fenbops I mean, at least TOTK is a game and not the glorified story/spectacle over substance garbage Sony repeatedly promotes with all of their 'AAA' games.
Yeah, the chat spammers need to slow their roll with Silksong. It’s far and away my most anticipated game right now, but it’s also a game I’ve taken the mindset of ‘it’ll be done when it’s done.’
Takes a lot of time for a small team like Team Cherry to put the clowns making crap like Last of Us or Starfield to shame after all.
On Switch, i'm still chipping away at Octopath Traveler 2, loving this game a lot, and it's probably my big game this weekend.
On Series X i'm also playing Dead Cells, mostly delving into the Return to Castlevania stuff.
And on PS5 I did briefly play some of the PS4 Ratchet & Clank remake earlier, dunno if i'll keep going with it, it scratched the itch I needed scratched when I did a session with it.
@themightyant as someone who celebrates indie games in general above most others these days, it's a problem everywhere. I think Nintendo and Xbox both do more than Sony with little directs/streams, and big promotions and sales. Xbox in particular is what invigorated my love for the creativity and diversity of indies with their Summer of Arcade back in the day, but yeah, the vast majority of genuine indie developers, not putting out shovelware, but a genuine vision from a small and dedicated studio working with and around limitations to make a damn game that works, don't get to catch a lucky break, and it doesn't matter if it's the PS store, the Xbox store, the eShop, or Steam, it won't reach everyone that it could and won't get any promos over the beloved indies, the next licensed game for the grind, or the next AAA open world 'epic' for the grind.
At this point I just want this to be over either way, I don’t really care about the acquisition anymore. It’ll most likely amount to more AAA schlock which is what Sony and their basic bitch audience want and what I don’t care about.
I just want Xbox to work with the studios they have for more projects like Hi-Fi Rush, Pentiment and Grounded.
@NEStalgia Well if I ever do want to try it I guess I can now, and maybe I will. Though my backlog grows ever longer with games that interest me far more. If the gameplay loop is similar to the original though that’s good at least. Have fond memories of playing it in the early 3DS days.

Re: Microsoft Says To Expect 'New Surprises And First-Looks' From Xbox Games Showcase 2023
@WaffleDee It's more-so aimed at the 'AAA only' crowd. The ones who don't explore games outside of those big heavily marketed releases.
And maybe low-standards is a reach, but I do consider that crowd to at the very least have very basic tastes.

Loop Hero got my vote. Surprisingly addicting game.
Re: Report: Xbox Boss Phil Spencer Reassures Employees Following UK ActiBlizz Decision
When the plan from the basic ass people is ‘just make more AAA, indies don’t count’ it makes me glad these idiots aren’t in the industry
Re: Microsoft President Makes Headline News With 'Furious' Response To UK ActiBlizz Verdict
Just lock Brad Smith and Jim Ryan in a room with each other, let them fight it out like the days of old.
Re: Talking Point: Next Month, It'll Be 10 Years Since The Xbox One Reveal Event
Xbox arguably still hasn't recovered entirely from the complete failure of Don Mattrick.

Just Evil Dead The Game for me.

I doubt it’ll even be a polished product, let alone have a performance mode at launch.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (April 8-9)
DS version of Final Fantasy IV and Evil Dead The Game with some friends.
We're getting pumped for Evil Dead Rise in a few weeks.

Sony brought this on themselves with the whinging they did about ABK
And look, one of the local ponies that was all about Sony pushing back on ABK is whinging in the first comment when Microsoft retaliates.

Well deserved award for a man who’s done a lot for Playstation.
Hopefully Jim Ryan never gets it because that man has trashed everything I loved about the brand.

Octopath Traveler 2 on Switch, and I kinda got the itch for an old favorite, so Dark Cloud 2 on PS5.
Re: Talking Point: What Do You Want To See Most From The Xbox Games Showcase 2023?
Whatever Double Fine is working on.

Hot Wheels is kinda baller. Enough so that I ended up buying it in that deep 80% discount it had a bit ago.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (March 4-5)
Octopath Traveler 2 on Switch and Like A Dragon Ishin on Series X.

@KaijuKaiser "and nobody buys jrpgs on Xbox."
Oh piss off with that. It's an old and untrue stereotype.
Re: Another Eight Games Will Leave Xbox Game Pass Soon (March 2023)
I’ll buy to own Young Souls. The rest I either already own, had my time with, or am not interested in.

@Would_you_kindly Play it on Xbox or PC then
If those aren't good options for you, tough s***, it's more options than Sony gives.

Oh hell yeah, legit my favorite beat ‘em up of the last few years. 120 fps? Hell yeah!
Re: These Four Games Are Coming To Xbox Game Pass (February 28 - March 3)
I have no interest in Soul Hackers 2. It looks like an insult to the original tbh.
