Re: Xbox Exec 'Looking Forward' To Playing PS Exclusive God Of War Ragnarok

Sakisa

I can’t bring myself to care about God of War and have never been able to. Say that as someone with a PS5. Next week is Sonic week for me. Now when Spider-Man 2 drops…that’s a different story.

And while I may love Grounded and consider it a GOTY contender, it’s been a very barren year for Xbox and they need to deliver in 2023. Fingers crossed Redfall knocks it out of the park, that and Replaced are the Xbox titles I’m keeping an eye on next year.

I wish I liked this game. I sincerely do, but I just didn’t care for how they overhauled the gameplay. At this point I’d be more interested to see Obsidian return to Fallout.

No knocks against those excited for this though, always nice to see native next gen upgrades for games people love.

@jamescrowx The blame is also on Microsoft for trying to tell said team still learning with the Unreal engine to add different features and ideas that the game wasn’t conceived or designed around.

I’m not letting this comment section absolve Xbox on this. They were trying to micromanage a team and director that you do NOT micromanage if you want a good game.

Look, I just want to say this, a lot of you are painting Platinum in a bad light like this was a scam. It was not. The idea of an action game with a dragon and human protagonist, the unique combat ideas and the genuine bond of the duo alongside a slick action game cool factor is a passion project specifically by Hideki Kamiya that dates back to the foundings of Platinum games. I don't really take flappant dismissals of the passion behind this lightly, and i've seen that a lot on this site. I love Xbox, I love a lot of what they're doing WAAAAAAY beyond Sony and Nintendo right now, I think they understand we're in tough times and want to extend some levity in relief time to people who need it with reasonable means of access. But this was a genuine breakdown of philosophy between Xbox and the design philosophy of one stubborn but passionate Hideki Kamiya, the director and premiere passion man on the games he makes. I feel a lot about this and realize i've been hostile in this comment section.

Realize i'm coming at this from the passion of both an Xbox and Platinum fan, things are more gray than you think. No one was a bad guy in this game falling apart, it was a mismatch of ideals for what could blossom from the game from the start and mistakes were made on both sides.

@Zucaritas Oh they can do plenty wrong. Babylon's Fall, Sol Cresta, Anarchy Reigns, TMNT and Korra. They have their successes and failures.

You come across as someone that doesn't know what the hell actually happened with Scalebound or just doesn't like Platinum considering you called a widely acclaimed game of the year winner awful.

The difference between me and most of the people in this comment section is I actually know what the hell i'm talking about with this situation since I do follow the developer, instead of blindly hating them because things went bad with daddy Xbox.

Re: PlatinumGames Would Still Be 'Very Happy' To Work With Xbox On Scalebound

@Zucaritas Bayonetta isn’t even the best thing in their portfolio. NieR Automata, Wonderful 101, and Infinite Space are all far better.

Though I’m starting to get the impression people just want to blame Platinum because they don’t want to give the share of blame that Xbox earned with this whole debacle. (Again, both parties screwed the pooch and MS and Platinum should both leave Scalebound buried)

Re: PlatinumGames Would Still Be 'Very Happy' To Work With Xbox On Scalebound

Sakisa

@eduscxbox I’m aware Wonderful 101 is available on everything except Xbox. It’s my third favorite game and I wish it were on Xbox. They say it was due to the infrastructure of the Xbone but I don’t entirely buy that.

Anyways, Scalebound was a break down on both sides, and Microsoft isn’t blameless in sticking their noses into the development of Scalebound and making Platinum add stuff it didn’t need and wasn’t envisioned with, like multiplayer. I think it’s better left buried and Platinum should keep making what’s on their plate, like Project G.G. The two companies don’t seem to be a good fit for each other.
