You may recall that back in the Xbox One era between 2016 and 2017, there were a variety of limited edition controllers that were released under the "Shadow" banner - Copper Shadow, Ocean Shadow and Volcano Shadow, for example.
Now, the "Shadow" branding has made a return in the form of the Gold Shadow, which is launching this October and is now available for pre-order on the official Xbox website at a price of £64.99 / $69.99.

Xbox describes the Gold Shadow as featuring a "sophisticated gold-to-black metallic finish on the top case" while the rest of the controller is "draped in carbon black, allowing the gold elements to shine". It also has a metallic gold hybrid D-Pad, rubberised black diamond patterned side grips and textured grips for the triggers, bumpers and back case.
"This controller is a statement piece, perfectly suited to be your new favorite, and the crowning gem of any collection."
The release date for the Gold Shadow is October 17th, 2023 (in select markets). We'll throw some screenshots below.

Seems silly to buy a controller at this point with the refresh, that finally has gyro, coming next year.
Damn that looks nice!
That is one of the better looking ones yet cause it don’t have a white back. I am waiting for the refreshed controller and will buy 2 or 4 of them. Replacing my 2 stock black ones more than likely. But this one is nice for sure.
It looks cool, but I don’t think I can justify buying another controller after recently buying the Starfield one!
@InterceptorAlpha That leak isn't confirmed yet - I have a feeling they might delay or can that idea given how hard they are going with the current controller options.
This controller looks nice!
I am ordering one of these so I can finally have a controller that perfectly matches my goldrush Xbox One X, so I couldn't care less about having the new upcoming features for this one.
@Darylb88 It would be silly to delay a controller that would finally be catching up with what we had on the Wii and PS3.
What would be sillier is thinking that something that would have millions in R&D delayed simply because of a leak when most leaks nowadays are part of marketing.
Pint of Guinness: Xbox Controller edition.
@InterceptorAlpha I mean Phil Spencer himself said some things have changed. They canned their xbox cloud streaming box after spending millions on R&D. The controller may show up in may as the same format or altered. It might come out later in 2024, or later or it could be canned. It's certainly not silly given MS track record to pivot and change over 12-18 month peroid (presentation is at least 18 months old). It's silly to promise yourself something is coming out based on old information.
Damn, that’s a nice looking controller. Im tempted but I already have 5 controllers (4 for my XBOX and 1 for my PC). Im going to try and refrain haha.
@Darylb88 You're comparing a hardware device that was easily replaced with software and never made it past papers mind you, to a replacement controller for one that is nearly 2 decades out of date
You're comparing apples to oranges.
@ParsnipHero
Still Game fan?
@InterceptorAlpha they are both hardware devices. They can cancel anything at any time they choose. I'm not saying they will but they can. Nothing silly about logic.
Xbox needs to keep focusing on making games & less on the controller side. We have enough 😭 at least make more four player couch co-op games if you're gonna be teasing us with all these controllers. Think I own 7 controllers by now & need to start selling some because there's not enough players for these bad boys
@ParsnipHero you had me sold at Guinness! Love that beer.
