Alright, so we know we've been talking about Final Fantasy 7 Remake for years now without any sign of it arriving on Xbox, but perhaps this time things will be different?! Yesterday, as part of the PlayStation State of Play event for September 2023, it was revealed that Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has a PS5 exclusivity window of just three months.
That means that technically, we could be playing Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth on Xbox as soon as May 29th, 2024. The big caveat is that an exclusivity window doesn't necessarily mean it's coming to Xbox - it could just be a PC version.
Looking back, Final Fantasy 7 Remake's exclusivity window expired in April 2021, and yet we still haven't seen it on Xbox consoles as of yet. Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade was also only supposed to be a timed exclusive on PS5.
The big difference this time around is that Square Enix recently patched things up with Xbox and announced plans to bring more games to Microsoft's consoles in the future, including Final Fantasy 14. Now more than ever, we're crossing our fingers that SE will be able to bring this entire suite of modern Final Fantasy 7 titles to Xbox in 2024.
We don't want to get our hopes up too much... but it's about time we saw these games on Xbox Series X|S!
