One of the worst presentations from the three main gaming companies in recent memory. I have absolutely no hype for the future of Playstation at the moment

I don't know why they are so unwilling to show footage of games that they are working on. That's how you generate hype. Not this massively secretive thing they seem to have going on.

Playstation need to change their slogan to "For the Payers" as they only care about selling expensive hardware at the moment.

At least with Playstation I have Spiderman 2 to look forward to. I'll be playing the Avatar game on Xbox with Ubisoft+

Well we have had two ok directs today and a good few of the games are coming to Xbox.
Microsoft need to let the people’s know this as Sony will definitely be advertising on TV so games like Avatar look exclusive to PS5 for sure.

Sony with their big AAA exclusives seem very quiet for 2024.
But the thing is they probably only need spider man 2 and will sell so many consoles towards Christmas and through to early next year.
With some clever advertising with games like Avatar making it look exclusive PS5 on TV in early December and Sony don’t even have try that hard.
As much as it pains me that is probably the truth, just wait and see November and December PS5 console sales.

@OldGamer999 i don't disagree and their strategy is clearly working, but still doesn't stop many feeling a bit disappointed with Sony as the moment with the PS+ extreme price rises for no reason, a lack of knowledge of upcoming games, and them obsessed with expensive hardware.

@Lightning720 Sony's summer was worse than this imo.

I really hope MS has another answer to this lackluster showcase. It shouldn't be very hard.

@OldGamer999 As good as avatar looked nobody came away from that state of play caring about avatar. The games that everybody is talking is Spider-Man 2 and final fantasy 7 rebirth.

Watched the Nintendo one, was ok ish.

Absolutely Sony not doing for me at the minute as I didn’t really enjoy spider man and also miles morales. Played them for a while but just stopped.
Nintendo are doing a bit for me.
But Xbox especially with Starfield then Forza and lies of P on Gamepass are at the top for me playing games wise at the minute.

@Cashews I’m guessing we will see some fun stuff for Xbox in Tokyo game show, my guess is the highlight will be Shin Megami Tensei III+IV+IV Approcalypse+V. Don’t see them revealing anything first party.

Then we will likely see something akin to last year, nothing or minor presence in Games Award but a soon-after Dev Direct, potentially diving deep on Avowed.

@Tharsman hope so - I'd love a big push into japan. Sony doesn't seem interested in their home country - may as well take their place in gaming.

If I were MS I'd do a full court press presentation to Nintendo for getting gamepass on their next console. Huge longshot but that's what I'd do. I'd ask MS upstairs for all the concessions I could get - and go for it all.

I kind of don't care. I dont have a sub until 2326 like a lot of people seem to do here. i can let it lapse in November and be none the worse for it. I have a few really good games on this system i can play for a long time. I have 100 or so on the Switch and 100s on steam and GBA advance, and etc forever.

the entire industry can shut down tomorrow and as long as we dont go mad Max and lose electric power - I can live with this.

but I'd rather things be good. So it doesn't pay for me to be negative really.

As someone with a PS5 that is not at all a fan of the Spider-Man games to date (Assassin's Creed with webs. Woo) I have to say that beyond FF7's continual retelling, I see nothing that's going to convince me to pull my PS console out of the closet.

And now back to Starfield, already in progress...

Sonys summer showcase and this State of Play were the 2 worst showings I have seen from Sony to date. Back to back. And we know next to nothing about 2024. Will be very curious how the next year or two pans out for PS in general.

@RIghteousNixon After the price hike, I'll only be subbing to GP Core and do my online gaming on Xbox.
My PS5 will strictly be used for exclusives. I have zero faith or interest in Playstation right now.

Spiderman 2 looks absolutely stunning as does ff7, ill play starfield until October, then its spiderman 2 for a few weeks,hopefully I won't have to wait another decade before ms release another decent game,im quite happy to play starfield if nothing else on my 500 quid console 🙄
