Series S is a great machine. I live mine with the XScreen. I’m rarely without it.
These complaints are about lazy developers who just cannot be arsed! Sorry but I hear people saying that we should not refer devs as lazy but this is a prime of example of why some are. The extra effort to get games dunking smooth on Series S is minimal. They can get them running on Xbox One and PS4 fine so this is just devs who are moaning and simply cannot be arsed to do their jobs.
The Series S is perfectly fine, plenty powerful and will be around for a long time. Some devs just need to get a grip and get on with doing their jobs!
@Dusk_Actual Xcloud and remote play but also so many Apple Arcade games. Apple Arcade is great and needs more love. Tower of Fantasy, Jet Set 2 , Bomberman, Sociable Soccer, COD Mobile although not on Arcade are superb. My switch is gathering dust. Unless I want a specific Nintendo game there is no need to own it at all.
I had a Razr Kishi and whilst the buttons were fine, it never felt 100% sturdy. I’ve also tried the GameSir devices and liked them better than the Kishi. Overall though, the Backbone One is , for me by far and away the very best controller for my iPhone out there. I have a spare iPhone and use that as my go to handheld device now. Can’t think of anything better. Since I’ve had the BackBone and spare ProMax Phone , I literally haven’t even picked up my Nintendo Switch for 4 months!
Hopefully now Xcloud will teach the quality and performance of Stadia. Whilst it has been a failure, when I had it it was very impressive graphically and performance wise with little issues. Even now, Xcloud is too inconsistent
To be hoped it does all go though because of not Activision will be in huge trouble and Microsfoft will; suffer pretty big financial paid. MS can probably stand that but if it fails to go ahead it leaves MS in a precarious position, not least reputation wise.
After the disappointment of the truly awful Saints Row - I loved that series as its just so off the wall and daft so was gutted - I pre download this and it is simply brilliant. Streets of Rage on steroids. It's simple, it's addictive, it looks stunning and the soundtrack is superb. My fave indie title of 2022 so far. I can't recommend this highly enough. Gameplay is everything and this hits the mark on the head. A lot! 9/10 from me.
@Kilamanjaro still go back now and again. It’s just not for me. Like I said, I get why some will love it but it just doesn’t feel that exciting or enthralling to me.
Shredders Revenge for me. Superb. Great game and full of nostalgia. Elden Ring is one of the dullest games I have played this year. I kind of get it but is it a game that’s really up there with some of the very best? Not even close for me. Loads of aesthetic quality but a total lack of substance. Give me Cowabunga any day of the week!
There is not even a contest here. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is off in a different universe. Sony have made some welcome changes but when it comes to Game Pass it is so accessible, it gives everyone a chance to play great games for a great price. At a time when money is at a premium for many of us, GPU is so far ahead of the rest.
@Carck If you just download the team updates then you could happily just have one copy for a few years. I’m not saying I wouldn’t or won’t play it but it’s madness to spend 50 quid a year on what is the same game with a different box.
@Carck For me what is needed is a price change. I take your point about there is only so much you can change but they get away with selling the same game every year. It should be 15 quid at most. The devs are not exactly working hard to get this out are they? Yes it’s still good but it amazes me that consumers will waste 50 quid a year to play a game thru already own.
Same game every year. EA really are beyond lazy. But the consumer is as guilty as anyone, buying up this utter guff every year. EA literally take consumers for fools and they let them. I truly hope someone else brings a football game to the arena and we can bid farewell to EA’s turgid re boxing’s.
One thing that I’ve not seen is when Xcloud will love to 1080p. Stadia - as bad as it is due to lack of players - really does look amazing on an iPad Pro but Xcloud still looks a bit meh.
Anyone have any ideas on when the upgrade to 1080 will be incoming? @frasergilbert
Really disappointed that this is for Samsung only. Cant see why this cant be integrated to current eligible SMART TV’s at the same time. Thought this would happen tbh so of all the announcements that’s one that has left me a bit cold. Hopefully it will come in time.
Also, GamePass is nothing like Spotify. Spotify don’t pay artists. Well they do but is pennies. That is why it has killed a lot of the business and why many have started to take their music off the service. It’s basically like piracy. Anyone who has Spotify has no understanding of the music business at all.
Xbox are still paying devs and publishers their rightful money and therefore the comparison is totally misguided and just another big wig trying to scaremonger when it’s not needed. Microsoft have plenty of reserves and they can afford to operate this model. It’s why devs want their games on the service and the impact on physical sales is minimal if anything at all.
GamePass is consumer friendly and it just means people try before they buy rather than not but at all and that is a big difference in this issue.
Right now GamePass is awesome. Why would I spend money if I don’t have to. It certainly won’t hurt the industry as a whole - that’s just nonsense. Nintendo sales are still sky high and their physical sales are not slowing down. It MAY affect Xbox at some stage but that’s what their execs are paid to deal with. All I see right now is great games being accessible to even more people. How is that bad? It’s not.
@Fishticon VR worlds. Yeah that’s just not going to happen. VR will always be niche. We will see more digital but consoles are not going anywhere for a long time yet. Every time something new appear people panic. It happened with 3D glasses. Died a death. VR is fine but not mass market.
@NahImgood Xbox don’t have exclusive content? Sony are making loads for the PlayStation. I don’t get your point and there appears to be a realm of fantasy in your comments. Plenty of Xbox gamers so why shouldn’t there be an Xbox magazine? It would be chocked full of games. The PlayStation mag is pretty thin on gaming content.
With so many great indie print mags out there - Ninth Fresh, Sega Mania, Sega Powered, Fusion etc - I am surprised no one has got an Xbox mag on the go. There is still a print PlayStation magazine on shelves and I would love a new Xbox magazine bug no one seems to do one. A real shame that. Sites like her are great bug they are no replacement for the days of print media which was always best and remains best IMO. No offence intended.
One other thing is that you can’t do any of this without owning a console and that’s a big sell to those in tight budgets. If you have a good connection you can play so many Xbox games on cloud with any device. Overall I would say PSPlus isn’t close to being for the players!
It’s an interesting point but I think Sony would be better sorting out their own house right now. I haven’t had access to so many superb, high quality games as I had had since owning a Series S and mainly thanks to Game Pass. I just don’t buy the idea that it in any way reduces quality. In fact it does the opposite.
Sony can do what they want but right now I have more than I want with Xbox and also am not having to fork out sky high prices for a lot of games.
Xbox have proven they can have a subscription service, make it work and still maintain the highest of quality and for a gamer that is absolutely spot on and what I want.
So I’ve finally got round to starting this. The music first of all is superb! Absolutely superb. First impressions are very good indeed. Looks beautiful.
Mine is in the UK! I have paid my duty and it will be with me on Tuesday!!! Cannot wait to get this. Will be great when reviewing games when the TV isn’t free for me! Will be giving my thoughts too on our site. Not heard much bad tbh. Great customer service as well.
Any of these titles that anyone really recommends at all? I didn’t have an Xbox 360 so some of these passed me by at the time! Any that I should definitely play/avoid?

Shipping to the UK….. £170 so over £300!!! That’s an absolute joke.

Re: Hardware Review: GameSir X2 Pro - A Really Impressive Xbox Cloud Gaming Controller
@Acurisur The Backbone if you have iOS is the best there is. Also supported by Xbox. Absolutely 1st rate quality.
Re: Hardware Review: GameSir X2 Pro - A Really Impressive Xbox Cloud Gaming Controller
@FraserG Does look really good. The 1st version was a bit tacky and felt a bit cheap. Probably won’t need it as I have backbone which incredible
Re: Hardware Review: GameSir X2 Pro - A Really Impressive Xbox Cloud Gaming Controller
@FraserG looks like they have basically copied the Backbone which is no bad thing. Any news of an iPhone version at all?
